Okay, I’ve been doing some serious thinking about this, especially because of the certain predicament that we are in. If you haven’t yet finished reading A Court of Mist and Fury, do not continue to read this unless you want spoilers.

So, with Feyre now in the Spring Court, so close to Fire Night, there’s been lots of talk and concern about Calanmai.

First of all, each High Lord performs the Great Rite and by doing so sends magic into the earth from which they came. Now Feyre is a High Lady and would therefore be drawn to perform the Great Rite because of her status, but mostly because the blood of all seven High Lords flow through her veins. Due to this, I also think that if she does perform the Great Rite, that it would be all that much more powerful for her land, which as High Lady of the Night Court, only helps her people.

Okay, now onto what I’ve been deeply pondering. Everyone, including myself, has been deeply concerned with the fact that Tamlin is going to have to perform the Great Rite and will naturally want to perform it with Feyre.

HOWEVER, as Tamlin will turn into the Hunter and begin searching now for the Maiden, there’s NO WAY he will be drawn to Feyre!

That is because, by definition, a maiden is an unmarried woman. The equivalence to being married is being mated. Even in his predatory state as the Hunter, he won’t be drawn to her because she’s not a viable option.

He could however, and most likely will be, drawn to Ianthe because she is just the kind to put herself in that position to gain power. To top it off, if she were to get impregnated on that night by Tamlin, she’d be just where she’s want to be to take control of things. This of course is just another wild thought.

The point is, sweet Feyre should be safe from Calanmai, Rhysand will most likely come to her to perform the Great Rite between the two of them in a secret place, and the very fact that she is not going to be chosen as the Maiden by Tamlin will reveal herself to him.
