one year anniversary post

wow!! new TADC episode!! the new episode gave me enough inspiration and motivation to make an OC, so BEHOLD! feast your eyes!

here's the first draft too since I have it!

It only took me a million years to make a TADC OC because of how the designs in the show are in nature. All the designs don't correlate too much other than the fact the style is the same. But, what tripped me up for so long is that Gooseworx uses a lot of 60's-90's media as inspiration. I don't really dabble that far back! Of course you don't have to make an OC look like they're ripped straight from the source material. But I do! At least enough to satisfy myself.

- c00lkidd bothers 1x1x1x1 about playing with it's minions constantly. 1x1x1x1 finds this annoying, and is very willing to hand over a couple minions to a game of dress-up for some peace and quiet.

- pr3ttypriincess, c00lkidd and Bluudud (forced probably) play all kinds of princess and dragon and knight games together!! the minions that were "sacrificed" stick around just because they can be pretty princesses that need saving if they stay

AWEE THAT'S SO CUTE!! now imagine the kidds pretending a minion is their parents because that's the closest form of parent-like affection they can have in this hellhole. pr3typriincess pretending it's her mom combing her hair. c00lkidd pretending it's his dad he's holding close in his sleep. bluudud initially trying to cope in the same way only to end up telling it to go away and crying alone on his bed.

ever since dream bbq got announced a few years ago, I've always been drawn to taski maiden - not only because she's silly, but also because her design is deeply fascinating to me, as it's rich in history. I haven't seen any posts discussing it yet, so I thought I'd make one!

the thing about taski maiden is that her design is very rooted in mesoamerican art. her appearance is heavily based on the textiles made by the chimú, who inhabited the coasts of what is now perú and were one of the most prolific empires of pre-columbus america - check these out!

if you look at the second image specifically - which shows chimú warriors - you can see how closely the top left figure matches taski!

in fact, all of her forms share the same colour scheme present in most chimú textiles: red, yellow, white, and black.

the little guys she's carrying are based on it, too! their face is a perfect match to the creatures the warriors are holding.

speaking of the little guys, the cloth taski is carrying them in is actually an aguayo! its a rectangular cloth used by various south american cultures to carry items and small children in.

final fun fact: taski is a quechua word that roughly translates to young woman or virgin.
