I have another OC to introduce and I actually traded for this design from @sunnysaffrons back when I was still on deviantart. I was really nervous about trading for them because I didn't want to just like... take the design and end up doing nothing with it cause so often I would see other cool design adopts and then go to the person's page that adopted them to look for more art of them and there so often wasn't any. And then that's exactly what ended up happening. I did draw him I just never posted him.
Until now!
Introducing Eclipse the nightwing! Any/all pronouns because my brain genuinely never picks anything consistent for her.
Also this is just the 'best' of the drawings I do have of them so far. She's missing the reddish color of her horns and face here and I didn't get the placement of the darker gold quite right. But he's been subject to my watercolor experimentation so... yea. More attempts below.
The first one here her colors are not quite right still. He's a bit too red and the row of scales along her neck should be gold, not the reddish color.
And the second one here I really like the colors of but they just aren't quite right. Though maybe on a skywing or something they could be cool. I still like how the drawing came out.
And here I was limited by the colors available in my markers and was just messing around again.
And then just a sketch. I'm still kind of toying with the idea of putting their mind reading scale on the inner corner of their eye instead of the outer corner. I'm not certain I like how it looks?
But yea, more about Eclipse. They are golden despite not being a hybrid cause they hatched during a solar eclipse, since the darkness in the middle of the day tricked them into thinking it was night.
And since the nightwings powers come based on the amount of light reflected off the moons sort of, I figure a lot of light just skirting past one moon should do something. I had this idea well before we even knew there was going to be a fourth arc but I was real excited to see it come up. My idea was for her to be able to share her emotions with those around her as a sort of warped and flipped version of mind reading. I'm still not super decided if she can then also feel other dragon's emotions in return too though. It was really fun that that came up as an actual possibility for a way nightwing powers can get warped though.
Though I also think in the book it was probably more related to leafspeak, still cool.
And of course credit where credit's due. As I said I traded for this design from @/sunnysaffrons. I crocheted their adorable mudwing Peat!
And in exchange I got this beautiful design. I was so enamored it bypassed my anxiety about reaching out to trade.
I mean just look at her. Definitely have Eclipse here pretty high on my list of drawing subjects once I can get my brain back on board with that. I have ideas of how I would like to try to do her wings with watercolors that I'm excited about.
Also SunnySaffrons if you're seeing this I hope it's alright I put their original reference here. If not just let me know I'll remove it. I just wanted people to see the cool design despite my so far slightly butchered attempts to draw them. And thank you again so much for agreeing to the trade!

I drew all of this while listening to Epic the musical, and it was on the last song for Mr Arrow and bones, which is why they aren’t the same detail
