How they met: 

Min Ji had already been a trainee for a little over a year before Hana joined CUBE 

Hana got into CUBE through auditioning as a rapper, just like Min Ji

On her first day as a trainee, when being brought around the building in a tour with the other new trainees, Hana caught sight of Min Ji in the recording studio, recording a song that Hana couldn’t hear

Even through the window, Hana could tell Min Ji was passionate about what she was doing

Later that day, when it came time to split into the positions in which they had auditioned for, Hana with 4 other trainees were shuffled off into another room specifically for rap training

There, a couple older trainees were sat either chatting with one another or rapping to whatever music was before them

But the person that caught Hana’s sight was Min Ji, who was standing with one of the trainers and showing him something on her phone

However, upon Hana and the new trainees entering, everyone stopped what they were doing and Min Ji looked up at Hana and smiled, glad to see another female rapper

From there, everyone was introduced to one another and they were each paired off with an older trainee and a trainer 

Lucky for Hana, she got Min Ji and the trainer she had been speaking to when she walked in

For the rest of the day they trained together and Hana was astounded by Min Ji’s talent for rapping 

Min Ji was also kind enough to encourage Hana despite messing up several times throughout their training, which Hana appreciated 

That night once training was over, Min Ji asked if Hana wanted to eat dinner with her and so the two ate together and exchanged their quick stories, mainly talking about their hometowns in China and France

Afterward, Min Ji walked with Hana back to the dorms and told her which one was her’s, so that if Hana ever needed her, she knew where it was 

They then bid each other good night and went along their ways

Early Trainee Days: 

They continued their trend of training and eating and going back to the dorms together for weeks after they originally met and it just became habit to do so, unless something interrupted their schedule 

After a few weeks, Min Ji got really busy and the company was debating on whether or not to debut her with a new group they were forming

This separated the two for a while and without Min Ji’s support, Hana found it hard to continue rapping. She just wasn’t cut out for it

This resulted in a period of severe doubt and long discussions of whether or not she should continue training at all

For the time being she simply stuck to dancing and spent the majority of her time in the dance practice rooms

However, on one particularly bad night, Min Ji came to the practice room Hana was in, with her violin and a journal in hand 

Walking to Hana, Min Ji’s face lit up and she frantically explained that she had written a song and needed someone to sing it for her so she could get the accompaniment right 

And so, they sat together and Min Ji quickly went over how to sing it, then got out her violin and got ready to play 

The start of the song was shaky as Hana tried to find her voice, but by the middle, it felt natural to sing and Min Ji had started playing violin along with her 

By the end, Min Ji happily clapped for Hana and exclaimed her surprised about Hana’s voice, she thought it was incredible and quickly asked if she would wait for a minute in the practice room while Min Ji went off to gather her computer and microphone to record what she had just sung 

This boosted Hana’s spirits to no end and when Min Ji came back and they recorded the song together, Hana realized that she still wanted to keep training, she just needed to switch to vocal training 

After that night, Min Ji helped Hana switch her training and supported her in doing so, but she was still super busy with preparations for the group she was intended to debut with

Taking the song that she had written and had Hana sung, she offered it up as one of the group’s potential debut songs, however it was rejected and instead a cutesy song with heavy pop influences was chosen, disappointing Min Ji 

Hana consoled her during this and told her that the song would later be used for her group, but for now it could just be something between them and so Min Ji named the song “Sentimental” as that’s exactly what it was to them 

Quickly, Hana adapted to her vocal schedule and did her best to help Min Ji when she could

However, just a few days before their group was supposed to debut, the group was disbanded, as the company deemed them unlikely to gain immediate support

This crushed Min Ji who had already been working so hard for the group and was so excited to debut so early on in her training 

Hana did her best to comfort Min Ji, who had thrown herself completely into her writing and rapping after the disbanding of her group

Even if Min Ji wouldn’t talk to her and be writing or composing, Hana would sit in her room with her or wherever she was and would keep her company and just talk away knowing that she needed someone to just be there 

A couple weeks passed and Min Ji got over the whole incident and she and Hana became closer than ever, practically inseparable 

Late Trainee Days: 

Another year or so passed and Hana and Min Ji were still one of the closest pairs any of the trainees had ever seen aside from Talea and Sun Hi 

By that point the two roomed together and would often leave their door open for the other trainees to visit them 

Hana would cook meals for whoever was around and Min Ji would help as much as she could 

On the other hand, anytime something broke, Min Ji was there to fix it and Hana was right there with a box of bandaids just in case 

It was during this time that they were deemed mom and dad 

About 6 months into Hana’s second year of training and Min Ji’s third year, it was announced a new girl group was going to be formed and that it was time for auditions again 

The two of them prepared together, dancing for days with each other and singing/rapping their hearts out in hopes of making this audition

Come time for the audition day, Hana knowing Min Ji was nervous, made some peanut butter cookies and got some teal earrings as good luck for Min Ji 

Min Ji, also knowing Hana was nervous, got some lavender essence and a light purple bracelet for her 

When they saw each other that morning the two laughed upon seeing that they had both thought of each other. The other trainees found their gifts very endearing and sweet 

Now Min Ji almost never takes out the teal earrings and Hana almost always wears the purple bracelet 

A day after the audition, the two of them were notified that they had both made it into SUN

They were so elated that they had both made it in, along with 3 other lovely ladies 

As a means of celebration they went out for a Hotpot and happily chatted about what their idol life may be like once they debuted 

The 6 months before their debut ripped past them and they soon found themselves on the stage and living out their dreams 

After Debut: 

Now, just being a 5 member group, their dorm room has a room for all five of them, but Min Ji and Hana have rooms just across from each other 

The two of them cook almost every meal for the group together and often find themselves cleaning up after the younger members 

The fans have also taken to calling them mom and dad after seeing the two of them together and how they care for the other members 

The fans also cherish their friendship and often comment on it, saying it’s precious and that they hope it lasts for a long time 

They’ve created their ship name as well which is “HaJi” 

On variety shows, they often comment on how close the two of them are and let them play games together or answer questions about one another, which usually turns into a roast about specific things they do 

The fans find this quite funny, most of the time it’s Hana complaining that Min Ji can’t dress herself or put on make up correctly, while Min Ji roasts Hana for stuff such as not being able to change a lightbulb

In relation to music, the two of them have a couple of songs together that are just by them

On two of their albums they have duets together and not on their group albums, they managed to release their song “Sentimental” together as a single separate from SUN

Having done this, she decided she wanted to make a full career out of singing and not just sitting on the sidewalk making a few bucks as she sang the most popular songs of the week 

So, at 15 she tried out for CUBE Entertainment and made the move to Seoul once she was accepted 

There she trained in vocals for just a year 

Then she debuted with SUN as their main vocalist 

Before SUN, she had quickly made friends with Talea, who had the same wild energy that she had and they hit it off pretty well 

Together the two of them would go out in the city and wander around at night once the training was over for the day 

Now they’re too busy to do that, but the two still bounce off each other all the time, causing their fans to deem them as the Beagle Line 

Around the company building, the other trainees and artists always know that if she’s coming over that it’s going to be a good time as she always radiates positivity

She enjoys helping the younger trainees with vocal lessons and loves joking around with the older artists

She is close friends with Twice’s Tzuyu and Seventeen’s Seungkwan and Vernon

Her father however abused her and her mother and sister were largely absent in her life and never stood up for her despite knowing of her father’s abuse

As a result, she typically avoided the house and spent her time running around the city when she was younger and when she moved to Jeju, she spent all of her time at the dance studio, school, and running around Jeju with Sun Hi

Finally deciding to move away, she tried out for CUBE entertainment and was accepted in with Sun Hi 

She quickly made the move and spent the next 3 years training as a rapper and a dancer 

Then debuted with SUN as their main rapper 

Now she writes and composes almost all of their songs with Min Ji 

She can play guitar and piano, guitar being self taught, while piano being the one thing her mother taught her when she was 7 

She started writing music once she moved to Jeju and fell in love with making music, which is the main reason she decided to become an idol, it was just an added benefit that she got to get away from home

Around the company, she is well known and often helps the trainees and other idols with writing songs or getting their parts down in songs 

She is close friends with The8 from Seventeen, Zelo from B.A.P, and Johnny from NCT

The other trainees and artists at CUBE are a bit nervous around her as she’s pretty quiet and really pretty in an intimidating way 

In addition, she generally wears a hat and a mask which cover up the majority of her face, so that also off puts the other trainees and artists 

The other members of SUN find this hilarious because Sun Hi doesn’t understand why they always jump when she starts speaking to them 

But overtime they’ve all realized she’s really nice and she just wants to help them and bring them drinks or snacks that she has brought to encourage them

During her trainee time, she originally was a rapper and a dancer, but found that she really enjoyed singing after Min Ji asked her to sing a song that she had written one day 

To counter Min Ji’s “dad” title, the members and some of the trainees call Hana “mom” since they’re best friends 

Also because she cooks for the members and the other trainees at the company and will give them a hug and reassure them when they are feeling down 

She learned how to cook from her father who is a chef and had a restaurant in France when they lived there 

Due to this, she learned a lot about gastronomy and knows several European recipes, particularly french ones

She also is a big swimmer, as she lived in a coastal town and often misses the beach now that she lives in Seoul and is an idol who can’t visit the beach often 

She wants to take the other members of SUN and go back to Marseille and tour around the Mediterranean 

She is close friends with Jeongyeon from Twice and Chulmin from Honeyst

In middle school she began writing poetry and fell in love with writing 

This lead her to writing raps and other music 

She then joined the CUBE entertainment company in high school when she was 15 and trained as a rapper and wrote a lot of her own raps

A year later she met Hana and they quickly became best friends

After 3 1/2 years of training she debuted with SUN 

She was picked as leader by the other members of SUN as she’s the best speaker of them all 

The other members and the younger trainees call Min Ji the company “dad” because she’s always fixing the broken things around the dorms and practice rooms and she gives the best advice in times when the members or trainees are doubting themselves 

Also, to add to her “dad” title, she plays catch with some of the trainees and the other members, as can be seen in their A Sunny Day video in which she plays catch with Keiko 

She reveals then in the video that she used to play softball which is why she has such a penchant for playing catch or just tossing a ball back and forth with the other members 

She has also been playing violin since she was 6 because her mother used to play and taught her how to do so

Now she composes and writes music for SUN along with Talea 

Being a part of CUBE Entertainment, she has become good friends with Pentagon’s Hui and BTOB’s Ilhoon
