as you may know i'd been working on an oracle deck for the past few months, it's already been printed in risograph :D my riso editor was in mexico so now that she's back we're gonna start selling them (i don't have a lot of photos of the end result as of now)
and now i have finally started working on my second goal ·˚ ༘༘⋆ˎˊ˗ which was to create a digital game version of the same deck to host on my itchio page. i thought i could write a little journal entry here for it.
i'm using construct, a visual coding engine, so that i can code it by myself. it's the same one i used for hlina and neptune.
i might change it along the way but here's an itchio cover i made for the game :D
i thought of maybe just having the basic 3 card "past-present-future" spread, but because i'm dumb and obsessive, i think i wanna have 6 different spread settings, including a customizable one _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):_ there's no deadline after all...

i can get extremely wrapped up in details, so apart from making the cover i have forbidden myself from making any real assets until all the logic is ready [ ± _ ± ] which is why i have things looking like THIS lmao:

i say that about using draft assets for now to avoid getting engrossed in the details, but i actually spent a whole afternoon perfecting that dumb realtime calendar and clock for it for absolutely no other reason than that i thought the vibe would be cool. also that light blue border is intended to eventually have some cool design ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ໒꒱ it was inspired by seeing games like this:
it also came about because i couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make it run on itchio without a black border around it (though i decided to hide it by making the whole gamepage black lmao).

i needed an extremely specific resolution for the cards to look good along with the pixel art i already made for the physical guidebook, and i didn't want the pixels to get distorted by scaling. i know there probably is a way to get it just right but honestly i gave up and decided to embrace the all-black page. i think if the border design is cool enough it'll look good.
oh and what does that border idea even have to do with the black one, well i like games to be 4:3 generally, but if it was just the inner part it looked so tiny when embeded in the page... so i decided to make it like this so that the total result would be closer to a 16:9 screen and not look so diminute. i'm also excited to draw something pretty on it :D (or could the assets be made with 3d art... i'm not quite sure yet _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):_ )
lastly, yesterday i added this silly shuffle animation. it's all sketches for now but i think it came out cute :3
i think i wanna see if i can get the player to input their own question into the game next...
