from what i've observed, i do think there is some pressure for women in not explicitly feminist leftist circles to affect a kind of "cool girl" posture for the benefit of the men in the movement

i'm still a leftist but in my experience women are viewed as expendable in leftist spaces, spoken over, treated as stupid, on a level that is astounding. you can get away with an enormous level of vitriolic hatred for women if you couch it in the right terms

it’s highly plausible that the majority of men have committed rape, and/or do not consider certain harrassments to be rape or certain interactions to be harrassment, and/or have sexually harrassed while believing themselves to be totally innocent of wrongdoing, and/or are unwilling to believe their friends/political allies/idols to be capable of rape. the question remains: How do we exist in a world such as this? How can we look any man in the eye. How do we not give into despair

misogyny does not bleed through the cracks of interactions, it is the superstructure through which every single action and interaction is filtered. detective work is not necessary. it is visible and plain. when men play it down, what they’re really objecting to is any acknowledgement whatsoever of a blaring and banal truth we can all see. they cannot allow us to point out the obvious and so we must become in their eyes hysterical. this makes existing in their world totally fucking unbearable
