You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.

Imagine how life would be different if you just completely let go. Surrender your ego. Let go of your negative thoughts, worrisome plans, and unrealistic expectations. Imagine how much more peaceful things would become. Life would be so much simpler.

You must be able to forgive yourself from your past mistakes. You must. Without doing so, how will you move on in life? If you keep on reminding yourself of everything you’ve ever done wrong, how will you ever see everything that you do right?

When it seems impossible to stop in the midst of turmoil and suffering and search for blessings, remember that all the times that seemed so traumatic in the past now seem, in retrospect, to have been valuable growth experiences. The former alcoholic almost always blesses his drunkenness. The wealthy person praises his earlier poverty. The recovered heart attack patient values the experience of illness. The happy couple extols the pain of their separation. Every despairing time has served to bring you to a higher, happier place in your life. Therefore, I urge you to stop considering any life experience in terms of despair. Imagine yourself looking back at this particular moment and use the hope of growing beneficially from the experience, to stop self-pity. Let despair dissolve into gratitude for the opportunity it truly represents.

Don’t be afraid to show your true self right when you meet someone new. Yes, you’ll alienate and deter people, but that’s awesome. It’s awesome because it means the wrong people aren’t taking up space in your life. Instead of wasting time with the wrong people, you’re creating space for the right ones to come in.

Take a shower, wash off the day. Drink a glass of water. Make the room dark. Lie down and close your eyes. Notice the silence. Notice your heart. Still beating. Still fighting. You made it, after all. You made it, another day. And you can make it one more. You’re doing just fine.
