Hey babes! As requested, hereās a roundup of my favorite study tips that Iāve picked up over the years. Happy studying!
studying for exams
Create a study group and meet regularly (not just before exams!)
āTeachā the material to someone ā your pet works well!
Keep a list in the front of your notebook/binder of topics or points that seem important enough to be on the exam, that confuse you, or that youāre interested in so you can go back and study them.
Study a little over a long period when you can, instead of cramming for an entire exam in one night.
Create aĀ ācheat sheetā of important information for studying on the go.
Try theĀ Pomodoro methodĀ to keep from getting burnt out.
Try creating a timetable for studying so you donāt spend too long on a certain subject and run out of time for the others.
Knock out your least favorite subject first, so you can have the rest of the day to work on more enjoyable subjects and relax.Ā
Create a study guide for the class using Google Docs that you can all contribute to.
If youāre unclear about something, Google it. Thereās more than likely a video that can explain it more clearly than your textbook.
Keep a running list of questions to ask during office hours, & actually go!
Study in a public place (the library, a coffee shop) so that youāre less likely to get distracted watching cat videos knowing people can see what youāre doing.Ā
Get plenty of rest the night before an exam! Cramming is not worth it.
homework tips
Write everything down, even if you think youāll remember it.
Keep a planner and check it first thing in the morning.
Do the work for your least favorite class first so that itās out of the way.
Start early. Way earlier than you have to. That way you have time for delays, to start over if you have to, or to take a night off to go to a party.Ā
If itās something quick, like a worksheet, do it as soon as itās assigned.
If you have a long break between classes, use it to work on small assignments that you can get out of the way.
For big projects, like papers and presentations, break it up into smaller pieces.Ā āWrite thesisā is a lot less daunting thanĀ āwrite 8 page paperā.
Do homework before you study, so youāll know what youāre confused about and need to pay more attention to.Ā
If thereās an option to buy an ebook rather than a physical copy of the textbook, do it. Not only is it usually cheaper, but it frees up space in your bag and you can search for specific terms easily.
If you have a lot of work to catch up on, set aside a block of time to knock it all out at once (with breaks, of course).
If all the homework for a class is due at the end of the semester, give yourself due dates for the individual assignments so you donāt put it off and have to do it all at once.Ā
Install a site blocker so you donāt get distracted from your work.
If you have an online class, schedule a regular time to work on it as if it were a traditional class. Ā
Donāt just Google your way through the homework! It may save time now, but itāll only make things harder when itās time for exams.

07.06.17 // 13:21 A photo of my to-do list this week. I really like this layout. Also, I had my last exam yesterday! 3 years and 32 exams later, Iāve finally graduated uni! So hereās the question: what do studyblrs do when they finish studying??

I used to have a lot of trouble still do with procrastination and I realized that, in my new studyblr days, I didnāt know how to utilize my studyblr to help me and it was just another way for me to procrastinate and feel productive. If you can relate to this, you could probably benefit from this little dose of studyblr realness.
Donāt use your studyblr just for aesthetics: studyspo is great for inspiration and motivation, and itās probably what drew you to the studyblr community, but it shouldnāt be what makes you stay.Ā You wonāt be able to take anything worthwhile from your blog if all you reblog is photos of beautiful notes. Mix it up with masterposts and printables and photos of ānon-aestheticā notes.
Donāt use methods that donāt work for you: if you absolutely cannot understand mindmaps but absolutely love the way they look, resist the urge to make them. Youāll only end up confusing yourself and wasting time. Only use note taking and studying methods that make sense to you. 90 percent of the time theyāll be things that you used before you made a studyblr. This isnāt to say that you shouldnāt experiment with different styles and methods, but only stick to what works for you.
Discipline over motivation: imho, the study community Ā overstates the importance and effectiveness of motivation. Donāt get me wrong, motivation makes studying more enjoyable when you have it, but more often than not you donāt. In the end, motivation isnāt what makes you study every night, or stick with self studying a language. You have to discipline yourself to study when you donāt want to, or work when youāre tired. My old French teacher used to say āDonāt fall into the trap of waiting motiviation, and just do itā and I feel like thatās super important with this. (1, 2, 3)
Talking about studying isnāt studying: sort of related to number 3, donāt let your studyblr be another way to put off work. Itās all to easy to think āIām blogging about studying; in being productive,ā but itās a dangerous thing to do. Studyspo is great, but donāt let scrolling through your feed become another method of procrastination.
Take photos after you study: or during, but not before. I used to spend so long taking pictures of my notes, that I wouldnāt have time to study them. I still take too long photographing my notes to take picture, so Iāve started using a pomorodo timer. After 25 minutes, Iāll use my five minute break to take photos. Itās increases my productivity so much, and Iām not sure how I ever functioned without that system.
Just get it done (and prioritize): honestly, sometime you just have to forget about trying to make your notes look pretty and just go for functionality over looks. Just let go of any studyblr ideals and do what you need to do. If you donāt have time to bullet journal and get your work finished, use an electronic calendar or donāt spend so long on your journal. Most importantly, be real with yourself. At the end of the day, you know yourself best, and you know what you need to do.
Good luck on your studyblr journeys lovelies, hope this helped!
xx
