INTERVIEW
part one ( you )
do you have any criminal history? anything big or small that you want to make us aware of?
âno maâam,â he turned to the man next to the woman, âno sir,â he smiled at them both politely, âi apologize, i dunno which one of you both i should be talkinâ to. just tryinâ to show yâall the manners yâall deserve.â he smiled, nodding over to the new guy, ânow knowing some of my classmates, i reckon it ainât been that easy, iâll try and keep everything easy for yâall.â he paused for a moment, thinking. âwell, it ainât on my record, cuz it ainât my crime, but i donât want yâall thinkinâ iâm keepinâ somethinâ from yâall. my father was murdered back down in alabama, but that ainât nothinâ to do with all that.â he returned to his polite smile to them.
what is your connection to daisey? how did you know her? how well did you know her?
ânow, i didnât know her all that well. we ended up running in near by circles, yâall know how that goes.â he explained, his hands gesticulating as he spoke. âit truly is something that sheâs gone, iâve been praying for her.â he nodded solemnly.
have you visited the blog site âveritasexposedâ? if you have, how credible do you find the information on this site? do you know who runs the website?
he furrowed his brows momentarily, thinking hard on the matter. âi know of it of course. pretty much the whole school watches it as it posts. itâs awful scary. i believe what they say, mostly cuz of how everyone reacts to it all.â he locked his fingers together and placed them on the desk. âi wish i knew who ran it, but i donât know anythinâ about them. they keep themselves real secretive.â
part two ( daisey )
do you remember where you were the night daisey went missing? if so, where were you? what were you doing? who were you with?
his face held a neutral expression as he listened to their questions. he took the cup of water in front of him before he spoke. âafter the football game, i went back to my dorm to wash up. and then i waited out by my car the whole night to meet someone. they never showed up though. ainât nobody wouldâve seen me.â his face turned apologetic, âiâm sorry that ainât very helpful to yâall folk.â
where were you the night daiseyâs body was recovered?
âmy mom got some extra money to fly me down just in time for christmas, so i was back home in alabama, didnât hear about what happened till i got back up here.â he explained, drinking from the cup again, now finishing it. âis there a way i can have any more of this?â he asked, holding the cup out to them. the officers just told him that he was almost finished, and wouldnât need to worry. he nodded, resting back into his chair.
how familiar are you with the ashmont woods? have you been there often? have you recently ventured out here? if so, why?
âi ainât had much time to go out very deep into them, but i know woods pretty well. i used to go hunting a lot back home, so woods are pretty easy for me to understand and get the hang of.â he explained, hands moving more as he spoke, âbut not those woods much, iâm a pretty busy student, i would if i had time, iâm much more of a country boy than any type of city fellow.â he smiled slightly, hoping the room wouldnât feel so heavy.
part three ( the investigation )
do you have feelings towards the investigation? any comments?
âi really respect what yâall are tryinâ to do out here. if thereâs anything else yâall need just let me know how i can help. all of yâall are in my prayers.â he nodded at them, standing up, taking the disposable cup that held his water with him as he walked to the door.
do you have any people you feel the police should look into? please, let us know who and why.
âi donât know if any of my classmates would be able to do anything like that.â he said planely, his expression unreadable behind his gentle smile.
