The Strugglinguist

For those of you following along at home, I left academia last year after a tumultuous end to my time at the university. They'd finally opened up a tenure-track position, and they told me I was the ideal candidate. After working there for 5 years, rebuilding the program's introductory programs, and working my ass off despite becoming incredibly disabled during my time there... they hired someone else. They said I could stay on in my current position if I wanted! (LOL) I finished out my 6th year, my direct supervisors never spoke to be again for that year, and I moved out quietly during the summer when no one was there. It was AWFUL, and I felt and feel so disrespected. You can only imagine the identity crisis that has been this past year as I find my footing outside of the institution.

Yesterday I got a message from a former student asking for tutoring help for a friend. That friend is taking the Intro class I used to teach constantly and has been struggling with the professor. One of the people who denied me the job had recently retired. They had to bring her back RETIREMENT because they don't have enough teachers! And she's big mad and has been incredibly strict and rude with the students all year. AAAAND the person they hired instead of me? Apparently they never actually accepted the job.

VINDICATION! PETTINESS! MWAHAHAHAHA!

I hope they feel every second of their bad decisions, and I will gladly help that student for free.

I saw lots of people saying “I’m going to miss Biden. He’s such a kind man and good president.” To which I just stare slack jawed. I will never forgive that man for running on taking Covid more seriously to turn around, end the State of Emergency, and declare the ongoing pandemic “over” within 6 months.

And the whole “kind and compassionate man” routine is so particularly evil when that same man has been gleefully funding and egging on genocide for 14 months.
