A Miserable Fate

“Say, what do you do as an incubus? Do you have any special powers at all? You might just be useful here if you do.” he said as his wings fluttered in thought. People like him were rare, yes, but now he needed to see just what it was that the boy was able to do.

“A spell malfunction in one of my classes! I got teleported here by mistake when a classmate was horsing around with his work,” Yuu reminded himself to send the person on their own personal vacation when he got back, “as for what I do, incubus’ are commonly known as ‘sex demons’. We get energy from having sexual intercourse as well as powers that can help obtain the desired outcome of any interaction we may have.” The incubus wasn’t sure why he was telling the other this, but he didn’t care. What was he going to do with the information anyways?

“What exactly are you?” he asked as he reached over and he gripped him by his hair and pulling him closer.

“I-I-I! I’m an incubus, please don’t hurt me!” He had blurted out the answer to the other’s question without any thought. He just didn’t want to get hurt....

“Oh. Well, while this garden is absolutely beautiful, it isn’t my sole reason for being out here. I’m studying these flowers in the garden before I go out and look for their wild counterparts. I need them for a potion I’m working on for my class back at school. But I don’t want to mess with the garden, so I’ll just have to put faith in my memory and go hunting out in the forest.”

     “Is there no way to take pictures of them? I’m certain a picture would help quite a bit in finding similar ones out through the wild. Some gardens are willing to give, so long as they are able to receive in return. Such as, were you to take a flower, that you plant one in its place. You see what I’m saying?” She’s never had to pluck one, only if they were dying and needed to be replaced, which of course, seeds were prepared for that.

“As for replanting, I’m afraid I don’t have any seeds on me and I must get this potion done before class tomorrow, so I don’t have the time to find any.” It was times like these where he wished that he was better at thinking on his feet. The whole reason he was even out here right now was because he’d gone into a panic at not having the right ingredients and ran here on the spot.....

“My world?” Yuu saw this coming. He’d asked her a few questions, it was only fair that she ask him some in return. What was there to say about his world, though? It wasn’t a well-known world, he knew that for sure, but he didn’t experience everything about it either. “It’s a world where technology is mostly predominant, I guess. Lots of things are basically automatic nowadays, even the sidewalks. Our laws are probably more strict than most others, but that has to do with the varying different demons there that leads to lots of controversy.” He knew that last bit first hand….

     “There’s only one kind of demon in my world, for the most part. Ah, but it’s not the most pleasant of places. I won’t bore you with the details on it, you came here for the flowers, not to hear me babble on~.” Though she really could talk on and on, so long as there was a topic to go off from. That wasn’t even a difficult thing to find.

“Oh. Well, while this garden is absolutely beautiful, it isn’t my sole reason for being out here. I’m studying these flowers in the garden before I go out and look for their wild counterparts. “Is that so? I’ve seen a few nocturnal species of plants around here, I’m sure they would make nice additions to your garden.” A smile crept on his face. It was nice to have a bit of normal interaction with another person. Cyrus was…..not the best at good conversation since all he really wanted to talk about at times was how ‘fun’ his nights were with his ‘clients’….

     “If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of world do you come from?” If he was going to get to know a bit about her, she’d like to have the same in return. Seemed like a fair trade, right? Besides, it wasn’t that bad of a conversation, it was nice. Enough that the demon sat in a grassy spot, avoiding the possibility of crushing any of the nearby flowers in the process.

“My world?” Yuu saw this coming. He’d asked her a few questions, it was only fair that she ask him some in return. What was there to say about his world, though? “Excuse me if this is strange to ask, but are you of this world? I’ve never seen a demon like you before.”

     “It’s nothing of the sort~! I suppose you could say I’m a rather rare sight in some parts, really, but this is in fact not the world I come from. These types of flora… they would wither and die in my world. They require sunlight, to which my home has not a single bit of~. I do happen to have a garden there, though, the flowers are grown specifically to adapt to low light.” Some even illuminate, they’re fairly pretty.

“O-Oh! You heard my mumbling, did you?” He really needed to curb that habit of speaking to himself out loud. It was almost as bad when him and Cyrus’ arguments got too heated and he started screaming at the air…. Still, something about this woman reminded him of something. It had to be that pink hair she was sporting. Was the same shade of a potion he had made? Or was it an underlying memory of a piece of an outfit that one of Cyrus’ ‘customers’ had strewn across the floor once? Whatever it was, this feeling wasn’t going away. “O-Oh! M-My name is Yuu, miss! I came to look at the flowers for reference!”

     “You are more than welcome to do so, it’s nice to see someone who holds at least somewhat of an interest in them other than myself. Yuu, is it? My name is Laurentia, a pleasure to meet you.” Nothing of him seemed familiar to her, though it is true she held a pattern to her that was fairly common. At least, in certain areas it was.

“Excuse me if this is strange to ask, but are you of this world? I’ve never seen a demon like you before.”

A sigh. Cyrus was never one for the indigenous plant life of their respective world, not since he got stuck inside of a carnivorous one sometime ago. The scent of its digestive juices was still burned into their nostrils to this day…. “I guess you’re right. We’d better-hmm?” Someone was coming towards them. Another demon, but one he’s never seen around here before. A pink color scheme? Why does that look so…..familiar?

     “And who are you to be found in a place so lovely~? I can’t recall meeting beforehand.” So long as they didn’t have any intent on harming the garden, she wouldn’t have any issue with them being here.

“Come on, come on! I can’t see with the small amount of light inside this cave!” The incubus had sought shelter after he managed to escape detection from some savage battle going on in the distance. He can still hear the sounds of swords clashing together even from where he is now. He knew that the longer he kept himself out in the open, the higher his risk of being caught was. Yet, the prospect of being in this bleak world any longer than he needed to was something that didn’t sit right with him….. “It’ll only be a minute. A minute’s all I need.”

‘Now, where is he?” he asked himself as he kept an eye out, thought it wasnt until he picked up on something odd nearby, and if he noticed, than some other would have as well. He grinned and then followed after the strange aura, in doing so, he found a cave and he tilted his head, “Now who could be in there?” he asked as he made his way inside the supposed empty cavern, and the farther he went in, the more he wanted to know about this strange thing. It was no demon he had encountered before, that was for sure.
