sabo gladly would have taken it, he was partly prepared to have people come after him but he had grown reckless to believe they'd not dare to. the moment of surprise led to a distruction he'd blame himself for no matter what she said. there had been too many instances of friends dying in his arms because of the world government's attempts of trying and end the revolution.
it felt like his own scars were itching for a second when he tried to stay calm. the blonde had gone through basic medical training, dragon always insisted that those who fought for them knew how to look out for each other as best as they could. "i'll worry either way," he replied but he managed to crack a small smile on his lips. it wasn't only because she was his brother's friend and nakama, nami could have been anyone and the chief of staff would have felt that way, guilt ripping through his body.
he exhaled, looking at her stomach. "let me look at it, i'll bandage it and then we get you to somebody proper to look out for it." there was a short break, his mind collecting itself again, calmess returned before finally, he said what he owed her.
"thank you." he'd never forget her for doing it, the reasons for it didn't matter.
Sabo might just about deserve the hero title that Luffy and Nami and all of them so often reject ā he's kind, far beyond most other people Nami knows. The navigator smiles at the thought, only a little bemused, laughing under her breath. She tugs her shirt up enough to show the wound; a cursory glance reveals that, while it's ugly, it's unlikely to be deadly so long as she gets bandaged. Nami's good at patching herself up ( she thinks of a lifetime of wrapping her own wounds, first from arlong and his men and then from whatever pirate she'd pissed off ) but knows when to let another help, nowadays. It's been years since she'd had to push away any sincere kindness. She'd glad Luffy's brother got to meet his version of her.
She's glad, too, that she's so past the point where things like blood or injures can really bother her. If this wound scars, it'll just be another of the faded scars across her body. Not a concern.
"'S not bad," she observes. "Hurts, but it's mostly superficial." Her eyes raise back to his, and she smirks, playful. "Your assassins usually this sloppy, or am I lucky? I might think you're less cool, if they're only sending amateurs after you."

Granted, she does often cheat; she hadn't bothered this time, they're not playing for money and Nami had been confident she could win even without cheating, as she almost always does. ( she'd learned without much of a choice, and any skill you master under threat of torture or starvation is bound to be sharper than the same skill in your neighbor. ) This kid is GOOD.

Kids getting turned into tools and being targeted for it...ohoho, not on her fucking watch. NOT ON NAMI'S FUCKING WATCH! She'll have to tell Luffy they're sticking around on this island for a little. Why, Luffy will ask. I need to put the fear of god into some idiots, Nami will answer. Cool, do you need help? Luffy will reply. Nami feels pretty confident she will not, but we'll see!

The pain radiating out from her stomach is dull, distant, half because she's felt much worse and half because she's fairly certain she's experiencing ( mild ) shock. A scarred hand pressed to her stomach, and she groans, more annoyed than worried, when it comes back red and slick. Sabo's fussing as she pushes herself to sit up properly against a nearby wall, and she gets it, she does, but it's unnecessary.
Maybe he's fussing because if she hadn't taken the wound, the dagger that's left a gash on her exposed stomach would have hit him, instead. A blast of lightning from her climatact had quickly done away with the would - be assassin, and all before she'd collapsed, even, but still. She knows if anybody got hurt for her that way, she'd be indignant, too.
The navigator hardly claims to be a good person, but she's more loyal to Luffy than she is to anyone. She wouldn't risk injury for many people outside the crew, but she'd die to keep Luffy from losing another brother without hesitation.
Luckily ā "I'm not dead," she says, laughing weakly. "Don't worry so much. One new scar isn't a big deal."

Oh god -- Shirley wants to crouch and cover her head. There's no one clinging to her, more terrified than her, there for her to comfort, to funnel all the frantic fear into focusing on. She clasps her hands around her own arms like she did for Nina once on the occupied train, trembling fingers digging into the bare skin of her arms. Her button-down is stained and Shirley misses her blazer. How it always reminds her of friends and the only place other than home that she's felt loved. It's cold in the dark for the few minutes she's by herself and she can feel the tears welling in her eyes nearly threaten to fall just before Nami reappears.
"R-right," she nods a few times, looking her savior over twice before she's sure the woman is really unhurt. "Thank you, I--Thank you," Shirley takes Nami's hand and is led from the closet easily, like she's magnetized to the woman's side now. Her gaze flicks around the now-silent room / Awe, pure awe, makes her face go slack, wet lashes clinging together. "H-how did you---?" The question escapes her just as they're leaving. She wishes she could be that strong. That she could beat back the ones who want to hurt the people she cares for and not look back. Suddenly, her hand being held reminds her of the one that caught her when she--fell. You're still alive, she tells herself, grasp on Nami's hand tightening like she might slip away if she doesn't hold on for dear life. "You did all that? All by yourself..." Shirley knows it's true, but she still has too ask. Too shocked by everything, the entire circumstance, to fully process the fact without confirmation.
That's good, a way to keep her distracted, thinking about anything other than being hunted or being afraid. Talking about Nami's power, the battle. She pretends otherwise when it doesn't matter, but she knows she's strong. She has to be if she wants to protect all the people she loves, who are all complete dumbasses. She squeezes Shirley's hand as they make their way through the grass, keeping near the cape and outside of town. "I did that," she answers, voice light, smiling. Modeling calmness, showing her absolute confidence that the two are safe. "But not quite all by myself. I use a weapon that my friend helped me build, so when I use it, I'm never fighting alone. He's always with me!" That's a comfort, too; she's strong because she's not alone, because she's protected and has something to protect. Nami's protecting Shirley, and so is Usopp. "Maybe someday you'll get to meet him! My friends are all just as strong as I am. A lot of 'em are even stronger!"
There's an old house on this island; Shakky owns it, Nami thinks. She'd offered it to the crew to stay in while they were here, and Nami's relieved to remember that they weren't supposed to meet here for a few days yet. That many strangers would just overwhelm the kid, and while she loves them all, few of them are the sort to realize that their flavor of loud and welcoming might just translate to scary. "This place is safe," she says as she pushes the door open. "My friend lent it to my crew, and nobody other than her and us know where it is." She remembers how she'd felt, after Arlong Park fell ā never wanting to be alone, clinging near Luffy or Zoro or Usopp, hating the weakness but afraid to be by herself. "There's a working shower, if you want to get cleaned off. If that feels scary, we can just get you some clean clothes and the worst of the blood off your face and hands."
