Excited to be heading to Montenegro in July for Sea Rock Fetival! I’ve been researching the city and it looks amazing.

Since the earliest days of this band, Milwaukee has always been a place where I feel like I belong. I remember the house shows, the shows where people first bought tickets, and some of the greatest hangs of all time. I started Winter Classic in Philly to celebrate my appreciation for my hometown and the fans within it, and it only feels natural to start the Spring Classic tradition in Milwaukee. For two nights, we will embrace a vibe of collaboration, community, and sharing in the musical experience together. Whatever songs you want to hear, no matter how deep, anything goes. These shows are meant to be open, interactive, and intimate, and they will only be solo in the sense that I’m on stage by myself. I’m thankful to my good friends who’ve graciously agreed to open the shows: Chris DeMay (8th) and SCHLEICHER (9th). I can’t wait to bring it all back to where it began. Harder Love facts: when I was 8 or 9 I made a comic book called "the nuclear warheads". It was about a punk band (or what I imagined punk to be). It talked about each members instrument/super power, their secret fortress, and the nemesis who was always trying to shut down the concert. That was over 25 years ago and very little has changed. Swap out the band name and replace the ninja guy with a Mohawk lead singer and you arrive at Strand of Oaks. The records I make are my escape into the same safe world that I made those comic books. There was SO much happening in my life during the writing and recording of Hard Love that is wasn't enough to just have nine songs and be done. Harder Love is yet another transmission from this weird head of mine.

Harder Love facts. This picture was taken about two hours before the Hard Love cover. Sunrise over Barton Springs in Austin. My Australian brother and vibe collaborator Maclay Heriot took all the photos while dearest friend Lynelle Keil took care of us . If you're supposed to "keep Austin weird" than we definitely held up our end of the bargain. I had a vision of utopia with the Hard Love world. Drugs or no drugs didn't matter. I wanted everyone to embrace each other the same way Maclay and I felt in those warm waters. Freedom from past shit, freedom from doubt, open for anything, and filled with love. Then a few months later a hate filled troll took over the country and it brought a heaviness I could never of anticipated. 2017 tried really hard to break my spirits that I could still find that world. But I have no doubts that we are gonna get there, hopefully sooner then later we all will meet up at Barton Springs and have the greatest party ever! -love tim

I don't really have a reason to release this record except for the fact that I want you to hear it. Isn't that exciting!? Well that's why I write these songs, I want to share them. Harder Love needs to exist because it closes the chapter on 2017 and to be honest I really need that to happen. As much as I fight it I'm an optimist and always reach for that silver lining.
