Farmer's markets often use produce that comes from the same sources as grocery stores. They've been lying about it all being their own produce for decades. We used to go to an actual farmstand to buy lettuce and produce, a few years ago, but that farmstand got sold and turned into a convenience store for encroaching suburbs.
Also, I grow my own, it is pathetically hard to keep it *all* safe from pests (and herbivores like rabbits and deer) on a normal semirural property, so don't feel bad if yours also suffered this fate.
