the thing about “it gets better” is actually that ten or so years ago i was growing up on this site reading those posts that were like “i used to be depressed but now im watching my husband play with my baby, it gets better” going oh man i sure hope it gets better. and now im standing in the kitchen having a frank conversation about my current vague suicidality with my fiance who loves me (really loves me) and then he asked al*xa to play a song from into the woods and then sang it while our cat meowed at the back door and i didnt think i liked musicals or long haired cats when i was a teenager but now i love them because he does. and also im still not very well sometimes but now i get to be unwell with someone who loves musicals! and is kind to me! and they were right, that is better
