Thereβs a headcanon or a micro-trope, I suppose, where Narutoβs shit childhood is completely by design by Hiruzen but we know Danzo is the reason Narutoβs jinchuuriki status was ever leaked to the public. I believe he did it so Konoha could unite around hating something/someone and/or manipulating Hiruzen to get Naruto under his wing to make him into a weapon.
And, yeah he basically got what he wanted.
Narutoβs isolation and ostracization was by design, even if it didnβt happen the way anyone thought it would. But looking at it, Naruto grew up never knowing why people treated him the way they did. Something was off about him, something was different about him that made adults and children alike treat him like the shit on the bottom of their shoe, and he never knew why. (According to one of the novels, Narutoβs abuse/neglect started once his jinchuuriki status was leaked, so I imagine a 3yo Naruto not knowing why everyone is mean to him now or what he could have done to deserve it.)
Naruto had no reason to believe that any other village or town would treat him differently, bc he likely tied his abuse/neglect to some fault of his own that he wasnβt aware of. Him not knowing about his jinchuuriki status set him up for a lifetime of blaming himself for the actions of others, for some perceived weakness or wrongness he has.
He didnβt get very many choices in anything. His life was signed away by his very own father and from then own he didnβt have anything that was truly his own. He never had the opportunity to step away from Konoha and its teachings in any meaningful way, if at all! Because that bitch Jiraiya barely taught him anything and routinely left Naruto by himself, which made Naruto latch on to Jiraiya even more, hence the βI only ever showed him the most uncool sides of meβ (See: Naruto begging asking Jiraiya to just stick around for his training so he could have some company, and Jiraiya berating him for it)
Naruto spends his childhood grasping desperately for acceptance and approval from people who abused him, because if he didnβt fight for it he wouldnβt get it. I think he is so forgiving in part bc he doesnβt have any other options. Whatβs he gonna do? Shut out two or three of the only people he has half-way in his corner? Heβs fucking 12. By the chuunin exams, he has four people that he knows find him in important, and one of them eventually betrays him.
He is used to being hurt. Heβs not gonna be picky. He has accepted mistreatment for so long that he puts it on himself to make the abusers/perpetrators see his worth and anything else is failure. βI couldnβt save Sasuke, and I couldnβt save Gaaraβ when neither of those events happen because of his own perceived-weakness, but because of forces bigger than him.
The worst part is Naruto does have resentment and Kishimoto shows it to us, but no one is ever held accountable for it. He doesnβt establish boundaries with himself and the village. He serves them as a weapon, because he has proven his usefulness. Heβs giving them the grace and understanding he never received to become βthe me the villagers believe inβ.
Everything, everything he does is either for the sake of the village or it benefits the village in some way.

My brutally honest opinion on HenPat is that they deserve each other. They match each other's freak and both are so fucked up. I could honestly see one killing the other, if not killing each other and refusing to go down without taking the other with them. That being said I do love the ship.
for everyone in the notes lamenting that this guy is poisonous: they are not! they're just pretty :) since they're a glass frog, their major defense mechanism is being translucent and hiding their blood while they sleep so they look extra translucent and blend in with leaves <3
HEADS UP: The U.S. Postal Service quietly changed how postmarks work.
Mail is no longer automatically postmarked with the date you drop it off. Instead, the postmark now reflects the date itβs first processed by an automated sorting facility β which can be days later.
If you mail something right at a deadline, the official postmark could be later than your drop-off date and may be considered late.
If mailing date matters to you, go inside the post office and request a hand-stamped postmark.οΏΌ
A new USPS postmark rule may cause property tax payments to look late even when people mail them on time. The change can create surprise lat
Remember to vote as early as you can. Write to your senators about how this is going to impact you, and other people. The mail is getting worse, and it's explicitly because Republicans hate mail in voting.

as an aspiring thief with his own fan base and nemesis, got any tips for young rogues looking to start? asking for a friend...
How cute. Who am I to refuse? Now, first and most obvious, those with sticky fingers need gloves. Anyone with a half-ass detective kit can find and track fingerprints. But if you're trying to make a name for yourself, I suppose the secrecy wouldn't matter. It all depends on what you do and don't want people to track back to you.
Always have a backup base of operations. Ideally, two backups. If they're smart, your nemesis WILL find your hideout at some point. You need to constantly be ready to scram and make a break for your other one. I have just about four on hand at the moment.
Now here's where a good chunk of rogues stumble, including some of my own. Trying too hard. When it comes to the job, get in, get the score, and get out. If you're a memorable big bad, that will speak for itself. If you need to stop and make a huge statement or monolog to be memorable, then you're just waiting to be humbled. Save the theatrics for when your nemesis swoops in to "save the day." Then a monolog or two is acceptable.
And for the love of God, if you're trying to make a big impression and join the big leagues, stay out of Central and Keystone. It's already spoken for. And I tend to get pissy when D-listers try to take my spot.
Happy 10th anniversary to DC's Legends of Tomorrow!!! Join me in watching the greatest show of all time (trust me, they checked) 10 years later!πΎπ₯³π
As I'm sure many of my followers know, DC's Legends of Tomorrow is my favorite piece of media of all time. And to celebrate this phenomenal show turning 10 years old today (π€―), I've started a rewatch and am going to be posting my thoughts on each episode here as I watch them! Now, I know I'm far from the first person to do this, and I might not even be the only one starting a rewatch today. But the way I'm going to do mine is by watching each episode exactly 10 years after it originally aired. That means I'll take a week between each episode, I'll take a few weeks' break for the midseason hiatuses, and I'll wait as many months in between seasons as we did when the show was originally airing. This way, my rewatch won't be finished until March 2nd of 2032! I am by no means asking or expecting anyone who joins me in this (re)watch through to wait that long, but I want to give us time to breathe between episodes/seasons and stay true to what the experience of watching this show was like 10 years ago. And I will, of course, be sharing my own insights about each episode, from my own personal theories, headcanons, and analyses, to any behind-the-scenes info I've learned from watching interviews and the DVD bonus features, attending panels, and the one-on-one conversations I've had with the cast. If you're a die-hard fan of Legends like I am, then you might already know a lot of what I'm going to share, but I hope that I can offer something interesting and worthwhile to both the OG fans and the newcomers alike. This show means more to me than I can possibly put into words, and I'm so excited to rewatch it and give it the love and attention it deserves, and hopefully introduce it to some new fans!!! π₯°
1x01 Pilot, Part 1
The episode that started everything premiered 10 years ago today, on January 21st, 2016. Now, I'm not going to be recounting the plot of the episodes in this rewatch, since I aim to encourage you to watch the show for yourself, and no summary I come up with could ever do justice to this magnificent show. I am merely here to enhance your experience of watching Legends of Tomorrow!!!
I'd like to start by sharing some information about how the actors approached their characters going into the show. In the San Diego Comic-Con panel they did in 2015, Caity Lotz stated that, since Sara has recently been resurrected via the Lazarus pit (in Arrow season 4), she wanted her to "go just nuts, off the rocker," in Legends of Tomorrow. You'll have to keep watching the show and decide for yourself if she managed that π€ She also stated that, despite being the only person without superpowers or advanced tech, Sara is the most dangerous member of the team because she's not afraid to die. This is something that's never directly stated in the show, but can absolutely be felt in Caity Lotz's performance throughout Season One. And when I met Brandon Routh for the first time, I asked him if there had been any aspects of his character that had been his idea, not the writers, and he told me that he essentially changed the core of Ray Palmer's character and turned him into the lovable nerd that we know today. He told me that originally, Ray was supposed to be a "tech know-it-all energized by caffeine," and that he's the one who introduced Ray's "naiveness [and his] zest and excitement for life and learning" to the character. These are character traits that got far more room to shine in Legends than they ever did in Arrow, and are ultimately what make him such an integral part of the team, far more than his tech or genius brain ever could.
Another thing Brandon told me was that the one moment from the show that stands out in his mind as a moment when he couldn't believe what he was doing was the moment he walked onto the Waverider set for the very first time. The Waverider is, of course, the iconic time ship of the Legends, and it has just as much character as the Legends themselves. So much, in fact, that one of the bonus features on the Blu-ray edition of Season One is A Fantastic Voyage: Touring the Waverider Set. I'd highly recommend you watch it if you ever get the chance (it might even be online somewhere, I haven't looked), but there are a few bits of information in this bonus video that I thought were interesting enough to share. First, and perhaps most importantly, the name Waverider is a reference to a character from DC comics of the same name. There are no iconic ships from the comics for them to use in the show, so they wanted to find something else to reference when they named the ship, and they found the perfect thing. Not only is Waverider a fantastic name for a time ship, but in the comics, the character Waverider has worked alongside Rip Hunter and also travels through time! And while we never get a full tour of the Waverider's layout, it is confirmed in this feature that it has three levels. Only the lower level is detailed, being said to hold the engine rooms, the cargo bay, and the brig. We know that the bridge and the parlour are on the top level, and I would imagine so is the med bay, the lab, and the fabrication room, leaving the galley, the bedrooms, and the single bathroom on the middle level. And speaking of the bridge, the chairs they used for it are actually modified aluminum seats from race cars!
And now, onto things I noticed while watching the episode! Not much to go on yet, but I have analyzed a couple of moments from the pilot, and fittingly for this show, they both have to do with family. When Sara, Leonard, and Mick leave the ship to go "get weird in the '70s," Leonard is the one who insists that Jax stay behind. Despite having no real reason to, he's already started looking out for him, and I believe that's because of his natural protective instincts as an older brother. He's used to looking out for his little sister Lisa, and he wouldn't want her going out with them, so he decides that Jax shouldn't either. He is also the only older sibling on the team at this time; Martin, Jax, Mick, Kendra, Carter, and Rip are only children as far as we know, and Sara and Ray are both the youngest of their family (Laurel is, of course, Sara's older sister, and Ray has an older brother named Sydney). And in a less heartwarming discovery, I noticed that Aldus gravitates to Kendra a lot more than he does to Carter, leading me to believe that he wasn't a very good father as Joe Boardman. That lines up with his character, as I can't imagine he would've been any less of an asshole in the 1910s than he is in the 2010s.
Another thing I'm going to do with this rewatch is keep tallies of things that happen multiple times over the course of the show. To start, I'm going to keep a list of all the times and places they visit, excluding anywhere in the present day. In this episode, they visited:
London, England, in 2166
Saint Roch, New Orleans, in 1975
Norway, 1975
We've also learned about the possible side effects time travel can have on the inexperienced, including:
Bleeding from the eyeballs
Nausea
Vertigo
Temporary blindness
And nothing was added to this category in this episode, but something I absolutely want to keep track of is how many times Sara Lance has died. All of these took place in Arrow, but by the time Legends of Tomorrow started, she had already died four times:
She was believed dead after the Queen's Gambit boat crash
She was believed dead after the Amazo boat crash
She experienced a spiritual death when she joined the League of Assassins
She actually died when she was killed by Thea Queen, under Malcolm Merlyn's control
And now, for a few things I noticed that relate to later episodes of the show! If you're only on this episode, please be warned that there are spoilers under the cut!
When he originally said this in the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con panel, he probably had no idea what he was foreshadowing, but Dominic Purcell is a self-proclaimed romantic.
In a much sadder bit of (partially) unintentional foreshadowing, Leonard and Martin both have lines in this episode alluding to their later deaths. After Sara's iconic "If we have the power to change the world, don't you think we have the power to change our own fate?", Leonard says, "For better or for worse." And when Rip first kidnaps recruits them, Martin says, "I hate to nitpick, but doesn't a legend have to be dead?" Of course, Leonard and Martin are the only two main characters in the show to die and stay dead.
This isn't quite foreshadowing, but in Sara's scene with Laurel (my favorite scene from this episode), Laurel says, "I remember when you told Mom and Dad that you wanted to go to sleepaway camp." This idea of Sara having gone to summer camp as a child is, of course, expanded on in Season Four Episode Four, Wet Hot American Bummer.
And I wasn't expecting to, but I actually have a small theory about this episode! I noticed that in Chronos's first scene, when he shoots those two teenagers/college kids (I can't tell) to eliminate any witnesses to time travel, his gun emits a green energy blast and seems to erase them from existence. Now, it doesn't look exactly the same, but this effect reminded me of the Hell weapons used in Season Five. So my new theory/headcanon is that the Time Masters found a way to utilize the power of Hell weapons and engineered weapons with it. It definitely seems like something the Time Masters would do.
