moved to rock-moms

i got into my first choice grad school. i’ve got a few more applications to write just for money and stuff, but at least i know what i’ll be doing next year. sort of. i still need to find an apartment and like. buy any furniture. at school i’ll be doing mostly biostats and data analysis, tho i’ll probs keep doing marine bio stuff when i have the chance since i like that more. my prof does marine bio stuff too, so at least my project will be in that area. i’ll be making barely enough per month to cover the cost of an apartment in california, but w/e. i even know him and another one of his students already, which will make it a lot easier to go work for him lol. 

i pulled thru this last sem with either bs or b-s which is fine with me. i got really sick halfway through during the same week where i had to give my senior presentation, so i think the profs went easy on me, grading-wise, since i couldn’t speak for more than a minute at a time lol. during finals week i also had to present a poster at some ~scientific convention thing, which absolutely wrecked my grade since i wound up only studying for like 6 hours lol. i graduated last week, did the whole black dress and ceremony thing, politely declined to shake the college president’s hand, etc.

i’ve been mostly spending my time playing video games instead of being on here. some of my recents are pillars of eternity (okay, rage quit at the adra dragon), dragon’s dogma (really fun, played through twice), and borderlands 2 (playing literally right now, about to go to uvhm). tumblr’s great, but it’s hard to make your dashboard stay as what you want it to be. so, bad for me when i’m dealing w other shit basically lol. i’m in az right now, til like august or so. my puppies are here, and they are doing great except that their haircuts suck and they look a bag of laundry or something.

If u’ve got more than 2 sample groups, use a fuckin anova or kruskal-wallis test. Don’t just post the results to 50 fuckin t- or mann-whitney u tests comparing every possible pair of groups and act as if you’ve done something impressive. This isn’t even crazy level statistics shit, it’s the most basic level of understanding of what a p value is. If ur using a program which u probably are you can just fuckin select it from a drop-down menu. Why do journals keep publishing shit with like graphs just covered top to bottom in p values? I’m gonna tear out my hair.

my favorite was the idea that ‘proper’ and balanced gems were supposed to have a gem placement aligned at the center of their bodies (forehead, chest, stomach, etc) and that that would play a part in how ruby and sapphire first met

prof: ok ur gonna draw names now to decide who ur partner project is bc ur gonna have to work with them a whole lot over the next few months also u need to do well or else u don’t graduate
