    A deep breath. Arms crossed over his chest. A sigh.

    “ Great. I don’t even want to know the rest of it, for         I doubt I’ll believe you or that I’ll be satisfied with         the explanation. ”

     If (if)   the agent spoke the truth it’d add to Q’s list on why      he preferred cats over dogs in most situations.

      “ If I were going to lie, would I blame a dog? “

      No.  And for the most part, lying to his quartermaster is not actually         something that happened all that often.  As odd as it seems, most         of the things that happen to him that see like extravagant lies are         actually just as absurd situations that he managed to live through.

“Why you feel the need to bring that incident up right now, I do not know, but yes, I would prefer that.”

Bond, it seemed, was in the mood to cause trouble. That was never good news, but Mycroft could deal with it. After all, he’d been dealing with this for a while now - not only from Bond, but also from Sherlock. Who was worse depended on the day, and today? Today it was apparently Bond.

“We both have our secrets, and I am sure that you understand the necessity of keeping them - especially when it is clear to see how they could be exploited.”

      “ Quite a lot about you can be exploited, Mycroft. “

      A statement he’s not sure the other man will enjoy, but that wasn’t really         something bond was bothered by.  With a deep breath he settles his         hands in his trouser pockets and perches on the other mans desk,         turning his attention towards a spot on the wall.

      “ I imagine you would prefer it if I didn’t mention the boat incident. “

      It’s been a while, both since said indecent and since he’d actually seen         the other man, but panic and withdrawal both were different things to         see on this particular Holmes so the memory had stuck.  Several months         of away missions and even more of recovery from a few of said missions         gone bad or worse had very successfully kept the Double-O from effectively         socializing with anyone other than Q and a few choice others.

      “ --- Dog ate it.”

      That’s it, that’s the only explanation the younger man is getting, especially         considering there was still a deep ache in his forearm where said dog had         bit him before eating the tech and running off.   No deep damage, just         some uncomfortable bruising and a damaged jacket.

      Well, damaged jacket and pride.

“ – So they actually pay you? ”

“ You haven’t even been to my place; how do you know its ‘ better ’ ? ”
