STFU, BZPower

Yeah, it’s every bit as creepy as you remember it.

And yet, as of June 5th, the comment is still up...

Yeah, I (and several other people) got a PM from the staff explaining that after reporting the status. The user is currently suspended with further action pending. From the sounds of things, they’re leaving it up presumably so they can get law enforcement involved as these types of threats are taken seriously.

fishers64 may continue to make public statements but we feel that right now it is best if she were left alone. This is truly a sad situation and our hearts go out to her. It’s down to her and her family and friends now and we hope that she gets the help she needs.

Update: fishers64 has apparently given up.

Since we’ve seen people on other websites pointed in STFUBZP’s direction for information regarding the recent incident, we thought it would be nice to have a handy timeline of events to keep people up to speed without having to search through a bunch of posts. We will continue to update this timeline as events unfold.

May 20 - BZPower Forum Leader bonesiii posts a shocking blog entry in which he proclaims his love for member fishers64. fishers64 initially reacts reasonably, then makes a final comment with several bizarre allusions.

May 21 - bonesiii is demoted to Retired Staff, sparking strong (albeit hasty) reactions from people who don’t believe his punishment is severe enough.

May 21 - fishers64, seemingly just a victim of harassment, is banned entirely from the site. People are confused by the staff’s actions as the situation does not look good for anyone.

May 21 - bonesiii’s Retired Staff title is revoked.

May 22 - fishers64 goes on a series of long, bizarre Twitter rants in which she attempts to rally people against BZPower and explain the situation, providing screenshots of an email as well as a Mediafire link containing an HTML snapshot of a PM conversation between herself and various staff members. The content of these conversations is barely coherent and does not reflect positively on fishers64′s state of mind. Based on statements made in these conversations, it has been theorised that bonesiii’s initial blog entry was an ill-advised attempt to expose fishers64 as an unwell person.

May 22 - BZPower Administrator Black Six posts a blog entry vaguely addressing the staff handling of the situation.

That said, I still feel like an acknowledgement from anyone on any platform, even something to the effect of “it’s not what it looks like, we’re dealing with it” would have been better than nothing. But I digress.
