“No of course not, you meant gay as in happy right?” Wren shook his head. *get Duke and begins walking to le park* 

“Do you mind if we go to the pet store later? I need a new leash for Duke, he likes to bite this one and it’s starting to tear.” 

“Technically we invited our parents, not you.” Mackenzie snapped, mostly taking her frustration out on him.

“I’m fine, thank you. I should probably get used to this.” she muttered before finally looking up to meet her father’s gaze on her. “Dad?” She wanted him to say something but so far there was just an expressionless look on his face. She was distracted from him when her mother gasped loudly, coming to a sudden realization. “I’m going to be a grandmother!” She hugged Mackenzie and kissed her cheek. “Isn’t that exciting? We’re going to be grandparents.” She repeated to address her husband as well as Hayden’s parents. “My little girl.” Mackenzie’s father sighed and held his arms wide of open for her which she happily went towards to embrace him in a hug. “I fully expect you to take care of this child, Hayden.” He said in a stern voice, not yet letting go of Mackenzie. “I better not hear that you’re not doing your part for the baby because then you’ll have to deal with me.”

“And I’m part of the family, so of course I’d come!” Ben chimed happily, from his seat.

Hayden was relieved at the reaction, he literally thought Mackenzie’s parents would strangle him. His parents seemed to be at ease too, or least they played it off to be. “This is great news, hun.” His mother pinched Hayden’s cheek. “I’m going to be honest, I thought Ben would be the first one to settle down. But this is still exciting!” Hayden swatted her hand away from his cheeks in embarrassment. “Mom!” His scolding sounded familiar to a teenage boy being embarrassed in a store, a pout flat on his lips. His Dad though, wasn’t as playful, and managed to ask the main question on his mind, being the old-fashioned man he was; “Does this mean you two will be getting married?” 

“That’s not true.” Wren scoffed. “…okay maybe it’s a little bit true.” He got down to get on the dogs level to try and play with him. “Or they can be friends and we can take them to the dog park. You weirdo.” he laughed. 

“Okay, or that. That works. I didn’t even mean it in that way, i mean...Nevermind. C’mon, go get Duke. We’re out to the dog park.” 

“You never did tell me what makes you liked though.”

Wren rolled his eyes then pet the dogs head again. “Hello there Sunny. Now why exactly would I make fun of you for this name? I think it’s pretty adorable.”
