Okay so after some discussion with others, and some embarrassing mistakes, Iāve decided to put up this CORRECTED version of the Galaxian Alignment system.
The reason for the correction was because not only did I get the demi- terms incorrect (and accidentally switched Galaxian with Celestian), but I had misunderstood the original intent of the coined system.
The description for Solarian isĀ āIn many cultures and religious systems, the sun is associated with masculinity, and male energy. As a result, a Solar Nonbinary Person, or Solarian, would be someone who has similarities in identity or experience with men. The term functions as a less easily abused form of āmale aligned.āāĀ
The point is to give a replacement to āfemale-aligned,ā āmale-alignedā and ānonbinary-alignedā statements, but it also has to do with the personās experience. For example, while I identify as transmasculine, I have both female-aligned and male-aligned experiences in my day to day life, so I could identify as Eclipsian. However, because Iām transmasculine and I do not want to identify with female alignment in any capacity, I identify as Solarian.Ā
So thereās a number of ways you can use these terms for yourself. You can describe yourself under both your gender identity and your gender experience (which in my case are actually different), or you can go with just the one that best matches your experience or identity. Some even use this to acknowledge that, while they are of a certain identity, they still experience another alignment at the same time.Ā
Itās completely up to you.
But remember, these are not genders. These are alignment identifiers, minus theĀ āmale-ā orĀ āfemale-ā orĀ ānonbinary-ā spectrum alignment implications. So Iād tack this on my gender asĀ āsolarian trans manā if I was describing myself.Ā
I hope that can clear up the mess I accidentally made with my first post. @uncommongenders @transgalaxies @ask-pride-color-schemes @coiningblog @beyond-mogai-pride-flags if you lovely people could kindly reblog this along with my original post thatād be so, so helpful to make sure my correction gets out there.
I stand alone against my past as the world I built with my hands and everything I stood for comes crashing down around me and you watch me with cold clarity a stranger in front of me, someone IĀ donāt recognize behind those eyes with no dark circles underneath yours the dust settles, leaving you complete untouched by my pain you tore the last shred of my hope away ripped it like a piece of paper from my pale, bony arms you donāt dare to face me even if I didnāt want you to burn the only thing I have left to give youĀ is a question: are you happy now? but deep down, what I really want to know is did you ever care about me at all?
Me, My Childhood, & I (via emryssa)
I was inspired by the galactic alignment system for gender identity (solarian, stellarian + lunarian genders) to create a set of words for nonbinary people to describe our gender presentation without having to use binary terms. These words are adjectives similar to the lesbian termsĀ ābutchā andĀ āfemmeā and are specific for nonbinary people.Ā
The first word isĀ āvermilā from the word vermilion which is a shade of red. This term can be used by nonbinary people who present in a traditionally masculine way without necessarily being masc aligned or solarian. The symbol in the center of the flag is the elemental sign for fire. The word + flag design were made to replicate the solarian flagās warm colors and association with the sun, fire, and āmasculineā energies.
The next word isĀ ācerulā from the word cerulean which is a shade of blue. This term can be used by nonbinary people who present in a traditionally feminine way without necessarily being fem aligned or lunarian. The symbol in the center of the flag is the elemental sign for water. The word + flag design were made to replicate the lunarian flagās cool colors and association with the moon, water, and āfeminineā energies.
The final word isĀ āpewtā from the word pewter which is a shade of gray. This term can be used by nonbinary people who present in an androgynous way without necessarily being unaligned or stellarian. The symbol in the center of the flag is a combination of the elemental signs for earth and air.Ā
So using these words, a fem presenting + unaligned nonbinary person could call themself a cerul stellarian; an androgynously presenting + masc aligned nonbinary person could call themself a pewt solarian; and a masc presenting + fem aligned nonbinary person could call themself a vermil lunarian. Nonbinary people can use any combination of these words to describe themselves fully without feeling forced to use the binary termsĀ āmascā andĀ āfemā. I really hope these words get shared and are useful for the community, let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding them.
since making this original post, i have gotten a few requests for more specific combination words to use within the pallet system. the five flags above represent the terms cinnab, fuchs, laven, indig, and virid (from left to right, top to bottom). a more detailed description of these terms can be found here.
these are lovely!Ā
I have a confession to make. Iām not the original owner of this blog. the last ask they answered is the last post on here, though. Iām stellunarian aswell so feel free to ask me things about it!

Back in March or so people were saying the galaxian system was supposed to be a REJECTION of masculine and feminine alignment, but now everyone is saying that solarian = masc and lunarian = fem? Did it change? Am I not lunarian anymore?
itās not a rejection of alignment, itās a rejection of being referred to with words that have a very, VERY long history of being used to meanĀ āyou are this binary genderā. itās more separation from a better-known concept than rejection. but, because nonbinary genders are complicated, these terms are extremely flexible.Ā
the only baseline of each identity is its relationship to other gender identities and the western gender binary. transmasculine people can be lunarian. agender people can be solarian. nonbinary fems can be stellarian. the only time this is an issue, is when people only want certain nonbinary people to follow them (e.g. sapphic/achillean blogs), but Iām pretty sure they could easily say āIām uncomfortable with _____ people following meā somewhere.Ā
if you want a label that totally and completely rejects any and all association with the western gender binary, a friend helped me coinĀ singularian/voidic. singularian/voidic was named for its inspiration: black holes. negative space. it isnāt even capable of being related to stellarian, despite it being a neutral gender identity. the whole point of this identity is to sever ties with gender itself, and thus cannot be attached to any other gender identities.Ā
weĀ wanted this system to be perfect, but it encourages moreso a gender trinary that acknowledges neutral ground than the dismissal of the gender binary altogether. like the kinsey scale, it will eventually become an outdated method for classifying nonbinary genders. Iām sure someone ten times smarter than me will come up with a better, even more flexible way to describe ourselves in the future, one that doesnāt still feel like weāre being misgendered.Ā
I really want the galaxian system to be a set of transitional terms--to remind binary and nonbinary people alike that we canāt and wonāt be lumped into one of two boxes. I hope that one day, someone will take a look at our labels and think, āwe can do betterā.Ā
I really love the galaxian system! Is it possible to identify as nebularian but also galaxian? I feel like the masculine part of me is really really small compared to the feminine and neutral parts so I don't just want to identify as galaxian, and both labels fit me well and they don't feel right on their own.
hmm, I think so? in my opinion, galaxian/galactian is an umbrella term but also its own label. if you want a new word that melds the concepts together intoĀ ānebugalaxianā orĀ āgalabularianā or something, feel free to do so. these words are meant to be as flexible and fluid as gender, so itās okay to experiment and play with them.Ā
Just discovered this blog. Would definitely say I'm lunarian. I'm glad there's a proper word now
Iām happy you feel comfortable using it
The galactian system is so cool, thank you for making it. Also fun thing: my name I picked even before I heard about this is Nova, and novarian happens to pretty much match my experience with gender or lack of it
neat! you could write a sci-fi nonbinary adventure story starring yourselfĀ
I don't feel like anything, so I thought I was just agender. I use she/her pronouns and other words that say that I'm a girl even if I don't feel like it. But it's just easier and it's not like I don't have ANY connection to womanhood. Is lunarian a good term? Or Stellunarian? Can I still call myself a lesbian if I'm attracted only to girls/ other lunarian nb people + I'm nb? Jeez, sorry for asking so many questions but I'm just confused.
I think you can use whichever word feels the best to you. I find more genderfluid people are comfortable with stellunarian, whereas people with static genders prefer lunarian or stellarian alone. that matters less than which one you feel fits you best, though. and yes, because the attraction to girls/that part of a nb personās identity is what makes a lesbian, Iāve heard.Ā

i'm really sorry if this is annoying but what does lunarian/stellarian mean?
lunarian - identifying (and often having a complicated relationship) with parts of/but not always, womanhood
stellarian - neutral ground, not identifying with womanhood (lunarian), manhood (solarian), or a strong aversion to any binary (singularian)Ā
Can the galactian terms be used in place of gender? Like if someone asks what your gender is can you just say Lunarian instead of demigirl, etc. ?
yeah itās kind of an umbrella term that you can apply by choice and not default (e.g. not all demigirls are automatically lunarian, but you personally could use the terms interchangeably b/c they both are relevant to the same aspect of your gender identity)
Can someone be solarian AND lunarian?
sollunarian/eclipsian
Would it be possible to be lunarian, solarian, and stellarian all at once and is there a term for that?
solstellunarian/galactian
Can Solarians be trans?
yep. any nonbinary person is allowed to call themselves trans, and transmasculine people are allowed to call themselves solarian.Ā

I (afab) consider myself to be genderfluid (agender-demigirl), but I like femme expression a lot more when it comes to clothing but physical I like male expression a lot more. what galaxy gender could I be?
liking a certain type of gender expression doesnāt make you a different gender identity. unless youāre willing to identify as masculine in gender, youāll still be excluded from the solarian label. I would guess stellunarian fits you best, but I know people in your position who identify as exclusively stellarian or lunarian.Ā
Hello! Could you please explain what is the difference between stellarian and singularian? I see both a being un-aligned with the binary so I don't really understand...
stellarian can be paired with other parts of the galactian system, whereas singularian cannot.Ā
