before stefan was turned into a vampire, he was a witch who was never taught about his magic. nobody, including himself knew about him being able to use magic.

this verse will be mostly canon compliant up until the beginning of s5 !

after stefan meets silas and learns that he's a descendent of him, he's told that he would be able to control magic if he wasn't a vampire.

after doing research & getting information from silas, stefan realizes that there's still a way he'd be able to use magic but it would take time and he would need to leave mystic falls.

after much contemplation, he decides it could be beneficial for not only himself but his friends and his town to learn how to use magic so he moves to new york in hopes of finding someone who can help him.

when he gets to new york he hears whispers of a powerful sorcerer known as dr. strange and once he finds him, he convinces him to let him be his apprentice.

while it's not the same magic as witch magic, sorcerer magic allows him to access it from within himself and not the earth where witch magic comes from.

he starts to train under dr. strange's wing as his apprentice while living in new york city, while there he helps out citizens in the neighborhood whenever he can !

stefan remains in new york city for a while, however, occasionally taking trips back home to mystic falls when he's needed there or is just missing his home & his friends.

stefan was born eight years after his brother, damon. unfortunately, during childbirth, his mother was not strong enough & she passed away due to blood loss.

this left his dad & brother in not only shambles but they now had to raise a newborn by themselves. at only eight years old, damon had to practically be a second father to stefan. it put a lot of stress on their father, causing him to start drinking.

whenever giuseppe was around, stefan was quiet & usually tense. little unexpected things would set his father off, something as small as if a cup was left on a table, or shoes weren't placed right he would get violent, occasionally striking the younger salvatore.

every time this went on, his father was always ninety percent drunk. his brother would sometimes walk in & interfere, only to get hit in replace of stefan. which of course, made him feel guilty.

when the sixty - ninth hunger games came around, stefan's name was drawn. he was seventeen at the time & while damon would've volunteered to replace him, he was too old to participate.

after the reaping, stefan met his mentor, finnick o'dair. finnick became someone very close to him, someone he trusted almost as much as he trusts his brother ( maybe more eventually ). while district four is known for fishing, finnick taught him how to skillfully use tridents & some combat skills. needless to say, he won his games.

he was born in the vaults, along with his brother. his parents were born on the surface & the salvatores were rich enough to buy a spot in one of the " good " vaults.

his dad became the overseer of vault seventeen after the last one died. they voted for giuseppe in a democracy type of vote. as soon as stefan was old enough, his dad started training him to be the next over seer after him. while damon would be the next in line for overseer because he's older than stefan, giuseppe skipped training damon because he thought he was too immature & " too much of a disappointment " to be an overseer. he thought stefan was the better choice.

stefan never wanted to become an overseer, he's not the type of person to be a leader. he never liked the attention on him but unfortunately, his family was too well known for him to fly under the radar.

even though he didn't want to train to take over, he didn't want to disappoint his parents. so, he became the perfect trainee, the perfect role model for younger people & even some older ones.

he ended up shaping into someone who could eventually become a leader but with his shy & more relaxed style, much different from his dad's way.

stefan often feels pressure from his dad, wanting him to be as professional as he is & when he's not doing things up to his father's standards, he's extra hard on him & occasionally even hits him to try & " get him into shape " but he only does so when his mother isn't around. he always hides his bruises, seeing as his father makes sure to put them in places that can be covered up.

unlike most of my verses, stefan's mom is alive in this one & the one he goes to whenever he needs anything, including a break. she's always there for him, especially when his dad puts too much pressure on him ( which is always ) she's the one who calms gisueppe down when he's not " satisfied " with how well stefan is doing something. she does her best to stop him from being too hard on the boys but it only works for a short amount of time. she also doesn't want to / can't leave him since there's nowhere else to go. she doesn't know stefan get's abused by him but if she did, she'd definitely put a stop to it.

damon knows what he goes through but their dad doesn't care enough & often gets hit by giuseppe as well, mostly to make sure damon doesn't speak about what goes on to their mother or anyone else.

eventually, damon becomes jealous that stefan was the chosen one by their father, wanting giuseppe’s attention, he starts to make a plan on how to become their father’s favorite. ( yes, even though he get's hit too & even though he know's what stefan goes through ) he honestly hates feeling " ignored " by their father.

one day, stefan & damon were exploring near the vault door & damon dared stefan to take a step outside ( just to see what it's like out there ) while stefan first said no, damon ended up convincing him to do it & when he did, damon made a " joke " & started to close the vault door to scare stefan. stefan wasn’t fast enough to get back inside.

damon decided last minute to not open the vault door back up to let stefan back into the vault. he knew that if he left stefan outside for long enough, he'd be too curious to not want to wander off & it would give him enough time to weasel his way to the top ( after they stopped looking for stefan in the vault of course ) & without stefan there, their father would have to start to train him to be the next overseer & that’s all he really wanted but knew it wouldn’t happen with stefan in the way. as much as he loves his brother, he wants their father's approval more than anything. ( & yes, he made up a lie, saying he didn't know where stefan went / claimed he probably ran away to hide due to the pressure of it all )

of course, stefan tried his hardest to get back in, banging on the door & even walking around the vault to see if he could get in but he had no luck, he waited outside the vault for hours but eventually fell asleep against the door, hoping someone would think to check the surface.

lily  &  giuseppe  are  still  both  dead. lily  died  when  stefan  was  ten  years  old  due  to  having  a  terminal  illness.  stefan  was  extremely  close  to  her,  it  caused  a  huge  shift  in  his  personality.  he  became  quieter  &  less  lively  as  he  was  before.  he  was  still  a  good  kid,  just  much  more  reserved. 

only  having  his  dad  left  as  a  parent  didn't  help,  gisueppe  was  never  the  best  father.  he  was  too  hard  on  his  brother  &  himself,  putting  too  much  pressure  &  responsibility  on  stefan's  shoulders  for  someone  so  young.   he  was  abusive,  physically  &  mentally  to  both  brothers.  while  damon  often  took  most  of  the  physical  abuse  to  protect  stefan, he  still  got  some  of  it.  especially  when  damon  was  gone  or  gisueppe  was  drunk.

gisueppe  died  a  couple  months  after  stefan  turned  seventeen  in  a  car accident.  while  stefan  was  hurt  from  his  father's  death,  he  did  feel  some  sort  of  relief.  (  which  made  him  feel  guilty  )  he  felt  relief  that  him  &  his  brother  would  no  longer  suffer  by  his  hands  &  words.   with  both  of  their  parents  dead  &  stefan  being  a  minor  he  was  left  under  the  custody  of  their  uncle  zach,  zach moved  into  the  salvatore  home  to  help  the  brothers  out.  

since  the  salvatores  are  a  pretty  wealthy  family,  they  were  able  to  buy  a  summer  house  at cousins beach.  every  summer  since  stefan  was  a  kid,  the  four  of  them  would  spend  the  whole  summer  there.  once lily died,  they  skipped  going  for  a  few  summers  because  it  wouldn't  be  the  same  without  her.  eventually  they  ended  up  going  back  yearly.  by  the  time  they  started  going  back,   stefan  was  fourteen  &  they've  been  back  every  summer  since.  

when  gisueppe  died  two  years  ago,  he  left  the  house  in  damon's  name.  so  now,  it's  just  the  two  brothers  spending  their  summer's  at their  house  in  cousins,  with  the  occasional  visit  from  their  uncle  zach. 

stefan  met  caroline  forbes  when  he  was  just  a  kid  going  to  the  beach house  &  she  quickly  became  his  best  friend  &  the  only  friend  from  summer  that  he  kept  in  contact  with  all  year  long.  

season one.

stefan, like the other delinquents was just trying to adapt to his new life on the ground. he adapted to living on earth pretty easily and quickly. he became pretty skilled at hunting, fighting, and engineering ( thanks to raven reyes teaching him ).

season two.

when the mount weather stuff was going down, stefan was one of the unlucky ones who was drilled by the doctors, having lost a lot of his bone marrow. though this was the most traumatic and painful part of his life, he had gained a high tolerance for pain after this.

season three.

stefan did not take the chip. he did not trust anything having to do with a.l.i.e. / jaha and his “ city of light. ” he was tortured for not taking the chip and ended up being paranoid for a while.

season four.

stefan ended up in the bunker with the majority of people. & down there he spent most of his time training, drawing & reading. he followed the rules so he could stay as lowkey as possible. he gets engaged to betty cooper during the dark year, unfortunately, the wedding never happens as betty dies in his arms during a fight in the pit. his point of view of her death can be provided if asked.

season five.

after getting out of the bunker, he was much stronger & ready to take on anything that would come his way. however, his grief of losing betty puts him in a depression & he doesn’t feel like himself. stefan ends up being taken by mccreary’s men & was one of the few skai people to have a shock collar on his neck. by the end of the season, he ended up in the sleep chambers like everyone else.

only  caroline  &  blake  find  out  stefan  is  a  vampire  during  season  one.

FALL - WINTER 1983 :   vampire stefan  salvatore  moves  from  new  york  city  to  the  small  town  of  hawkins,  indiana.   stefan’s  always  been  a  fan  of  small  towns.  there’s  less  temptation  of  human  blood  &  he  can  fit  in  better.   to  fit  in,  he  finds  himself  pulling  his  classic  move  & enrolls  at  hawkins  high,  soon  meeting  caroline  forbes,  blake  quinn,  steve  harrington,  nancy  wheeler,  robin  buckley,  chrissy  cunningham  &  jonathan  byers.  he’s  quick  to  join  the  hawkins  high  basketball  team,  befriending  steve  &  by  association,  his  girlfriend  nancy  &  her  friend  blake.  eventually,  he  be friends  caroline  too,  she  quickly  becomes  his  best  friend.   chrissy  &  stef  met  once  he  joins  the  basketball  team,  she  instantly  becomes  someone  close  to  him,  maybe  he  develops  a  crush  even  if  it  doesn’t  last  because  of  jason.

when  he  finds  out  will  is  missing,  he’s  quick  to  join  the  search  parties,  able  to  navigate  through  the  woods  at  night  easily.  (  because  he  feeds  there,  of  course )  while  helping  jonathan  &  nancy  search  for  will,  he  gets  dragged  into  the  upside  down  with  nancy.  after  making  it  out,  he  vows  to  himself  he’d  do  everything  he  can  to  keep  his  new  friends  safe  from  this  unknown  dimension  &  it’s  creatures.

                                    VOLUME TWO.

FALL 1984 :   everything  is  calm  &  silent  for  a  while,  just  how  he  hoped  it  would  be  when  moving  here.  he  continues  to  hang  out  with  his  friends  while  preparing  for  ( another ) senior  year.   when  dustin  goes  to  the  wheelers  for  help  with  dart  &  ends  up  finding  steve,  the  two  of  them  end  up  recruiting  stefan  to  help  as  well.  stefan  ends  up  in  the  group  of  steve,  dustin,  max  &  lucas.  he  uses  his  vampire  abilities  to  help  fight  off  the  demodogs.  

                                      VOLUME THREE.

the  gang  finds  out  stefan  is  a  vampire  halfway  through  the  season.

SUMMER 1985 :   stefan  just  graduated  again  for  the  millionth  time  &  is planning  to  leave  hawkins  to  move  back  to  his  hometown,  mystic  falls.  however,  he  plans  on  staying  in  hawkins  for  the  summer  &  spending  as  much  time  as  he  can  with  his  friends.  stef  ends  up  getting  a  summer job  at  starcourt  mall  movie  theater,  another  thing  he’s  doing  to  act  “ normal. ”  &  then, things  quickly  hit  the  fan  once  more  &  stefan  is  quick  to  realize  he  might  not  be  leaving  so  soon.  since  he’s  the  only  supernatural  being (  besides  el ) in  hawkins  &  knows  he  has  an  upper-hand  when  fighting  off  the  mindflayer  he  knows  his  friends  will  need  his  help.

before  the  final  battle,  stefan  gives  caroline  a  small  vial  of  his blood  as  a  safety  net.  he  wanted  her  to  have  it  in  case  he  couldn’t  be  there  when  she  was  hurt  or  injured  &  she  needed  to  heal.  during  the  battle,  caroline  ends  up  getting  hurt  to  the  point  where  she  needs  it,  unfortunately  she  dies  before  it  could  heal  her.  when  stefan  finds  her,  he  believes  she’s  dead  until  she  wakes  up  on  the  mall  floor  &  is  suddenly  in  transition.   now,  he  knows  there’s  no  way  he  can  leave  hawkins,  he  can’t  and  won’t  let  caroline  go  through  this  transition  on  her  own.  

                         VOLUME FOUR : PART ONE  &  TWO.

SPRING 1986 :   after  the  battle  of  starcourt  &  caroline  turning  into  a  vampire,  stefan  decided  he  had  to  stay  in  hawkins.  as  much  as  he  thought  they  both  should  leave,  he  understands  having  to  stay.   plus,  he  doesn’t  want  to  leave  his  other  friends  just  in  case  something  else  happens.  

&  then  comes  vecna.  stefan  doesn’t  end  up  being  one  of  his  victims.  in  volume  i  he  ends  up  with  the  upside  down  gang.  he  stays  with  dustin,  max,  lucas  &  erica  at  the  wheelers  while  the  others  find  the  gate  under  the  lake.  however,  in  volume ii  he  does  join  the  upside  down  squad  ( nancy,  robin,  eddie,  dustin &  steve )  in  the  upside  down.  he  stays  with  eddie  &  dustin  while  the  battle  the  demo  bats  but  goes  back  when  dustin  does  &  then  he  follows  him  back  once  he  realizes  dustin’s  plan.  unfortunately,  stefan  was  too  late  getting  back  to  eddie  &  he  was  already  gone  before  he  could  use  his  blood  to  heal  him.  —  open  for  this  to  change  if  any  eddie’s  want  to  plot  that  stefan is able  to  save  him  with  his  blood.

QUICK  THINGS :

stefan  still  struggles  with  his  bloodlust  in  this  verse,  he  hasn’t  drank  human  blood  since  1930.  

he  hasn’t  seen  damon  since  the  60′s,  definitely  won’t  be  talking  about  him  unless  you’re  close  to  him  &  even  then  it’s  a  fat  maybe.

for backstory purposes & what not i am saying damon exists in this verse. however, he will never be i.an s.omerholder to me as he makes me uncomfortable.

stefan & damon were born on the planet tatooine but due to their father stealing from jabba the hutt, the salvatores had to flee so he wouldn’t get caught. they ended up on the planet naboo, in the human capital, theed. once they arrived, giuseppe immediately sold what he stole, gaining enough money for them to live in a decently sized home. their mother became a seamstress to make money while their father continued to be in illegal “ business exchanges. ”

when stefan was nine, there was word going around that giuseppe was being hunted by a bounty hunter who jabba hired. with this news, the salvatoraes once again had to flee, leaving their comfortable life behind.

this time they ended up on the isolated desert planet known as jakku. giuseppe had assured his family that they’d be safe here for good, considering it’s a planet that’s isolated from most. just two weeks past stefan’s tenth birthday, the bounty hunter who was looking for his father found them on the desert planet. this was only a couple months after they arrived. without any warning, giuseppe was put in handcuffs & dragged away from their new home. however, since so much time had passed, jabba thought taking his father wouldn’t be enough of a punishment. this resulted in stefan’s mother being killed in front of him & his brother, fortunately the boys were spared.

the boys had no other family, so they ended up having to fend for themselves. damon had to sell most of their parents things so the two could keep their home. & then he got a job so they could continue living in their home. when stefan was old enough, he started to scavenge as much as he could help damon out with food & everything else they needed. the boys continued to live like this for several years.

five years before the force awakens ( stefan is nineteen at this time ) stefan meets general leia organa. she was quick to see that stefan & damon were orphans & only had each other without much else. she offered them both a place in the resistance & they accepted. she became like a mentor for stefan along with vice admiral holdo, who becomes like a second mother to him.

stefan ended up being trained by poe dameron to become a pilot for the resistance. because he was trained by poe, he is one of the top pilots.

unfortunately, damon dies during the last jedi when the first order starts shooting down the evacuation transports. it devastates stefan as he officially has no biological family left.

after graduating high school for the millionth time and finding out that the love of his life had chosen to be with his brother, stefan needed to get away from mystic falls. it was the summer before college started for most recent graduates and the vampire had found himself driving across the country for a new start. he packed up some of his clothes, blood bags, and his journals and drove to a new town in a new state in his little red sports car.

what stefan didn’t know, was that this new town he entered was werewolf territory. not to mention these werewolves are different from the ones he’s seen, and the ones he knows. stefan being who is, quickly made friends with scott and his pack. and now, he helps the pack whenever he can.

in 1996, stefan is an assistant coach to the girl's soccer team, the yellowjackets.

when they get on the plane to regionals, he's on board & gets stranded with the team.

after they're rescued, stefan tries to go to college & live a normal life, though past trauma keeps creeping up on him.

he would go on to attend harvard university and he'd study creative writing. honestly, he'd probably end up writing a novel based off of the plane crash or something of the sort. but, he'd never write an autobiography or anything that would give too much away.

stefan's a witch who attends the academy of unseen arts with nick, the weird sisters & sabrina. he's been going to the academy since he was thirteen.

his father, guiseppe helped father blackwood plan & kill his mother when stefan was fourteen.

three years after their mothers death, stefan & damon find out what their father did & are now constructing a plan to kill him as an act of revenge. they both don't want to be in a world where their father is existing but their mother is not.

stefan studies herbalism, sacred scripture & ritual magic at the academy. sacred scripture is his speciality !

this verse takes place between the entirety of the show & after.
