A smile played on Josie’s lips as she licked the sugar from her fingers. Maywood Historical Day was by far Josie’s favorite. The girl had a tradition of saving all of her change in an old water jug from an office water cooler that she kept in the back of her closet, and more recently on an app that was linked to her bank account. And during founders day week, she’d use part of the money for food and clothes from local thrift and second hand shops to dress up for the different events. But, mostly food. “I know people love the parade and the ball,” The brunette said to the person that’d been in line behind her, “But I don’t think there is anything better than eating one dollar junk food all day.”
Stefan wasn’t a huge fan of the junk food that was being served but that wasn’t the case with his daughter who was enjoying the day far too much. “Clearly someone agrees.” Stefan said and smiled, looking down at Flo who had forced him to get in line for more cotton candy. “I feel like I am spoiling her today, but how can I say no to that face. Look at her!” He shook his head and laughed watching her make puppy eyes at both him and Josie. “I swear she knows exactly how to get me to do things for her.”

Natalia had managed to find her way to the casino during the Founder’s Ball. She had probably spent too much time there already but it was better than to embarrass herself on the dancefloor. Sure, she had watched Beyonce. No one would skip Beyonce. So after she had made her way over to the bar for a drink, she found her way to the casino. “I’ve been having such bad luck so far. Do you have any tips on how to do any of this better?”
Stefan wasn’t much of a gambler. Taking chances with anything had never been his thing and even less so in the past couple of years. He was after all, a bit of a control freak which meant game of chances was the opposite of his happy place. He was there with his friends however, but when the brunette asked for his advice, he didn’t have anything good to offer. “Make out with the guy who’s dealing?” he suggested anyway with a smirk playing on his lips.
Although Oliver had lived in Maywood for years now, Founders Week was something that felt new every year. He looked forward to it like a child looked forward to Christmas. “So,” he began, looking at the person beside him. “What are you most looking forward to this week?”
“I don’t know, everything I guess” he mused. Having had grown up in Maywood, Stefan was well aware how the Founder’s week worked but he had moved out of town for college years ago, and it was now ages since he had actually been to one. As the first born and only son of Alejandro & Leticia Navarro, both of whom were respected doctors with quite some power at the Maywood Medical Center and a place in society which they valued about everything else, Stefan was born with a silver spoon in his mouth – but with that also came expectations and responsibilities weighing him down since a very young age. He was expected to be perfect and nothing less, with his grades, the way he behaved and even with the friends he made. To his parents’ delight, as he grew up, Stefan turned out to be exactly as they had expected – the perfect son they could brag about to anyone and everyone. He worked hard to maintain the straight As because he knew far too well his parents would not accept anything lesser from him. Despite having found out early in life how to balance work and fun, how to make friends and how to follow his dreams all while keeping his parents satisfied, he was cared for and loved very little. He barely saw his parents at all, both busy doctors who had no time for him. He was mostly left under the care of nannies and babysitters when he had been young, and when older, mostly alone.
His life really began only when he left Maywood and went to college, away from the small town with all the rules he had live by because of how perfect he had to be for his parents’ sake. It was then that he really began to experience life the way he wanted. And once he got a taste of how life could be without someone orchestrating his every step, he began to crave it, the freedom, beginning to travel far and wide whenever he could and experience life to the fullest. Every weekend was a new trip with new people, and with time passing, he wished to return back home lesser and lesser. He refused his parents insisting him to go to Med School and instead simply trained to be a paramedic, which was something he wanted to do before anyway when he didn’t have his parents breathing down his neck.
His parents were disappointed in him but he was happy, and he began to build a life for himself soon enough – a career and soon even love. He married the woman he loved and had a kid with her, and everything seemed perfect. It was a fairy tale life, except happily ever afters didn’t really exist. His wife died in a car accident two years ago and Stefan spiraled. He loved his family more than anything, keeping them safe and happy had been his biggest priority – and something snapped inside him when Mara died. And had it not been for his daughter he would have completely lost his course. Having been unable to live in a place with all of Mara’s memories, he moved back to his hometown two years ago in the hopes of getting better and while it seemed like daughter was settling down, for Stefan it wasn’t really that easy. Only recently has he come to accept the loss of his wife and has begun to move on.

“Makes sense.” he said with a shrug of his shoulders. “But I honestly don’t think any other prefect or professor wandering about would appreciate that excuse, you should go back to your common room. I’ll escort you down there now. But I see you wandering about again, it will be points from your house. Deal?”
Ivy had been sitting next to Mattias, trying to figure out her own homework. “I can’t think of anything worse to do right now than tackle this pile of homework. Couldn’t we just procrastinate and still get an O?”
“I need a break.” he muttered, throwing his quill aside and leaning back on his chair. “Agreed.” he sighed. “I think not, unless the ‘O’ you are taking about is zero.”
She smiles slightly, looking up from her own work, “That’s a
little bit morbid.” Izabela chuckles softly, “At least you’re in
your last year, I’ve still got this year and next year to go. You’re
not exactly instilling me with confidence.”
“I am sorry.” he laughed lightly at her words. “Would it be preferable for you if I lie and tell you that NEWT year is the easiest year there is?” he asked teasingly.
‘‘I wasn’t being loud!’‘ he said, loudly. His face heated up and he immediately lowered his voice into a grumble. ‘‘You started it.’‘
“I know you weren’t but the librarian has super human senses and makes a fuss all the time.” he said before rolling his eyes a little, though he was mostly amused, not exasperated with the boy. “I did not.” he insisted with a smirk on his lips.
