Scribbles and Doodles

I don’t know who got her that shirt, but they probably got put on latrine duty for a year. 

It was my birthday, so I doodled a Minami. not 100% sold on teh shading but I like the rest of it \o/

Upon the surface of this multi-aspected crystal are carved the myriad deeds of paladins from eras past.

Messy doodle idea that was drawn with insomnia -- decided to slap some colors on it with just my pencil sketches and not real lineart. Kinda like it. 

Finished the MSQ for Stormblood so I decided to whip up a super fast and kinda sloppy doodle of my main. 

“Say, what happens when you stick the artist in a world building chat and you get on the topic of how any wildlife in Nohr thrives if it’s a tundra/largely subterranean?”

While her human form reference is still under construction, here is the simple ref for Terra’s dragon form. This here is her base/true colors, and her promotion based colors are here. Noteworthy things 

-she still has her second row of teeth 

-the antlers grow by year and are sharpened with whetstones. 

- While her armor is sporadic (she’s -defense), where she does have it is very hard to pierce. Her weakest spot is her gills. 

-The spines in her tail frill are poisonous.

-As her species is native to the deep ocean, functional eyes aren’t needed. In this form she instead sees in a sort of infared vision for magic, along with the electronic pulses that sharks utilize. 

-Her hind feet are webbed.

-the “wings” are less proper wings and more akin to fins on a shark or whale, but can be used to fly if needed. 

Insomnia decided to visit, so I figured I’d sneak out a little preview thing. 

Working on revamping both Terra’s humanoid form and her dragon form, and the biggest thing that saddened me [apart from how utterly irrelevant the dragon form is outside of two chapters] was that the colors for it didn’t change based on what promotion you picked, which felt fitting. 

Let’s have some more sketchbook sampler shit, shall we? Some fo this stuff’s a bit older, but I still really like a lotta this stuff 

1 - First off is a take on Hana’s oft mentioned but sadly deceased father. His name is Sanjo and he was very doting on his tiny daughter. The man with the nue on his shoulder is called “Sho”, yokai hunter and part time professional snark master.  They actually got along very well.

2- using @reshufflethedeck‘s custom MU to be meme trash. 

3 - SOME of Terra’s MANY redesigns. these aren’t even all of them, and none of these were the original OR the final

4- Gen 0 stuff for awakening, featuring Emmeryn, Chrom and LIssa’s parents first and then a couple of Chon’sin based ocs after them. Fun fact - Chrom’s dad was ORIGINALLY Named Xander, but then we got the dub names for fates so I quickly changed it to Xavier. 

5- Teenage Sumeragi and Garon, guest starring Bahamut the duskwyrm.

Here we go, have some Sketchbook Samplers from what i doodle while I’m on campus, featuring plotting ideas for a younger/not corrupted Garon. the blue and fainter sketches are how he’d be at the start of the Fates Plot, because I will have to be one of those people and say that the story would have been BOATLOADS more enjoyable if the game wasn’t super biased to hoshido if we had had morally grey rulers on both sides. 

Instead of y’know Saint Mom-in-the-Fridge and King Slime Monster.

Me: Corrin’s canon dragon form design is so awkward and unyieldy. The armor plating is nonsensical and well, it wouldn’t allow for any sort of flight with the wing membrane unattached to the body. 

Sorry for the sudden radio silence, but well ... 

I got back into school and got a job that gives me on average about 30 hours a week, if not more because right now a LOT of the other people are in finals for school. Also I got pulled into Final Fantasy XIV, but I’ve hit a drought beyond working on my anima until Stormblood drops in mid-june. 

Thankfully my hours will be back down to saner this week (32) and will hopefully stay within the 25-30 hours a week I requested. 

I am also saving up to get this lovely beast right here, since my laptop is starting to die. I should be able to get this by month’s end, and that’ll really help with the art because it won’t KEEL OVER and stutter if I save something reasonably sized. 

@loyal-to-the-end, @daughterofhecate, and @soleil-is-the-bae, I DO still have your commissions and will finish them when I have the time and energy to work on them. I am SO SORRY for the long wait for this art.

Just throwing this out here real quick because this is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit of a recurring thing I’ve seen in a lot of Fates fanart that’s quite likely LARGELY to due with the mirrored portraits, but uh, 

right-over-left kimono folding was exclusively for corpses.

It’s an easy mistake to make, especially in the west where that sort of folding in coats and whatnot is gender based (left over right for men, right over left for women). 

But going off of Hoshido’s apparent influences of the Nara and Heian eras (stable government and prosperity with a minor military police force- the Heian period is actually the longest in JPN history at 400~ years!), this was around the time where a couple of clothing regulation rules were passed: the taiho code of 701, which dictated what was appropriate for high ceremony, uniforms, and mourning; and the Youro Clothing Code of 718 which dictated clothing must be folded left over right in accordance with the Chinese style of dress at the time. 

Class notation was done by patternwork/colors of the kimono, along with how many layers. Noblewomen of the Heian court in particular wore robes called junihoute, which could be up to twelve layers of silk! Colors and patterns were dictated by seasons and standing, like modern fashion trends seen today. 

Probably not something super major in regards to art, but it’s a thing I’ve seen around and I wanted to inform people of~ 

I love how when I say ‘I’ll post something soon’ it ends up being like four months.(Although, to be fair to myself in this instance, I got back into school/now have a job that’s giving me 25-30 hours a week. This is also why my commissions have been so slow ;;;)

Anyway, I said I’d get a full body shot of Ikona up, and here it is \o/. it was a shading experiment that I’m only partially happy with, but eh. You can still see her design well enough. 

(also some portraits because I remembered I had them sitting around.)

Birthday is actually Feb 14th, hence why I got her up today.

Marriage to Sumeragi was arranged, but they got along well enough. Very much enjoyed being a mother.

Did a lot of political meetings with the Flame Tribe. It also means she can drink like one of them, so ... just don’t try and get her drunk. 

the naginata she’s using is a personal creation called ‘Yandi’, and is basically the Hoshidan answer to Camilla’s Tyr axe. Hinoka inherited it after her mother’s death. 

Said death came from a fight over the Bottomless Canyon - she was knocked off of her mount by an Excalibur spell. All that her squadron was able to bring home was Yandi. her mount survived by sheer luck and returned to Shirasagi some years later with a mate. (Also her death gave ryoma a massive phobia of flying and he will not go higher in the air than is safe for him to jump down from)
