iâm reese, they/them. i post mostly dimension 20 + play it by ear, and sometimes drawfee/drawtectives and smosh! occasionally video game content or other general stuff pops up too. also i write a lot. and i talk about writing a lot more than i actually do it.
this is NOT a spoiler free account! i usually tag spoilers for a week or so after an episode initially airs. after that itâs the worldâs problem.

Felt nostalgic and wanted to make a picture of Jack and Annie from "The Magic Tree House" books, when they see the tree house again in their teen years đđ
đŹ â if a movie or show was based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?
probably either you just needed a confidant or masters of the scene, mostly bc i think those two lend themselves to coming of age style movies pretty well. my other copout answer is hit the road and leave it shaking bc thatâs written in a script format already lmao
i donât know actors. so i donât know about this other part admittedly
đ¤ â would you ever want to write something canon if you got the opportunity?
considering i write about improv musicals, ttrpg shows, and block people, i think itâd be really impressive for there to be an opportunity to write for canon at all. if i can be honest. unless writing for canon means i get to be on d20 in which case put me in coach!!!!!

sleeping on a bed of thorns (still you call them roses) â
>> reverse au (oc insert edition)
completed, 1.2k words. closer to 1.3k but whatever
youâre dreaming until youâre not.
(or: liv and lanie and a life that is so, so close to being right)
youâre dreaming again.
you shouldnât be â youâre on the clock, after all, and you canât have your boss getting on your ass again. not after last time.
butâ no, that canât be right, isnât he in jail? you put him there, all of you. he deserved it. you needed the money. you needed him gone. you needed out.
your reflection blurs in the televisions. it always does, greens and reds swirling into a muddy brown that makes you grimace. itâs painful if you look at it for too long.
thereâs something wrong, though, about the reflection. you should know, youâve seen it enough times to nearly recognize it. somethingâs always off, though.
youâve never seen the eyes of the girl looking back at you.
something tells you you know them all too well.
âlanes?â
you blink. youâre not dreaming, thatâs not your job here. youâre restocking the shelves, because your store isnât going out of business, because you have a steady stream of customers and a solid income and livable wages and a boss that doesnât hate you. liv is leaning against the shelf youâre stocking, staring at you with something you might call concern if she knew what that was.
sheâs not wearing her uniform vest. you donât know why your brain tugs at that detail.
something must change in your expression, because she cracks a smile, blurring on the edge of genuine but always, always teasing. âyou good?â she asks.
sheâs younger than you, still in high school, but youâve never felt like you have the upper hand with her. something about the sharp edge of her grin, knife-like and just as deadly; the glint of her eyes, nearly black until they flash, a flare, a warning signal. youâre not sure she actually knows your name.
you have a girlfriend. why are you focusing so much on high school girls?
(she turned eighteen last month. itâs written on the calendar in the break room in a handwriting you donât recognize, bordering on chicken scratch if it werenât for the looping scrawl, the hearts over the iâs. youâve always been a little dramatic.)
âum,â you say eloquently. âyeah. all good. just⌠distracted. college, yâknow?â
liv rolls her eyes. âoh, i know.â
she doesnât elaborate. you donât need her to. youâve heard teachers mutter about the lost potential of liv skyler like itâs the most devastating thing in the world, whispering in the break room like you werenât standing just around the corner. student council duties and all, of course. youâd never use your powers for evil.
youâd never started a rumor, necessarily, but if informationâs changed hands behind you, well. what were you meant to do about it when you couldnât see it?
âmy mom wants me to go to stanford,â she continues without prompting. she says stanford like itâll poison her if it stays in her mouth too long.
you blink again, more surprised than anything. âi mean. stanfordâs not⌠bad?â you offer. and then, because if youâre already talking you might as well jump into the deep end, âdo you⌠want to go to college?â
she stares at you for a moment with an expression you donât know how to read, then down at the ground, scuffing her shoe against the carpet. âi donât know,â she says in a voice smaller than youâve ever heard. âi donât know what i want.â
âoh,â you say. you donât know what else to. âthatâs⌠yeah. i donât, uh. i donât think you have to have your entire life figured out right now, though. youâre eighteen.â
liv looks back up at you, somewhere between irritation and confusion. âyou have your entire life figured out.â
you feel like youâre going insane half the time when you walk into work. you donât know if you know yourself anymore. you think you might be hallucinating on a regular basis.
ânot all of it.â youâve abandoned any pretense of working. liv raises an eyebrow, clearly disbelieving, and you shrug. âshit happens, yâknow? nothingâs solid. i donât know if iâll even be able to do anything with my degree. i donât know if i even want my degree, sometimes. i donât know why iâm here, or why sometimes when i look at you or wendell or usha everything goes all fuzzy for a second, or why thereâs someone in the televisions. yâknow?â
distantly, logically, you realize youâre spiraling. that youâre word vomiting, incomprehensible statements to anyone but yourself. cleanup on aisle three. livâs looking at you like youâre going insane. you think you might be, actually.
âthereâs someone in the televisions,â she says flatly.
âthatâs notââ you sigh, drag a hand down your face. âhave you, uh. talked to wendell, recently?â
itâs not really an answer. youâre expecting her to call you on it, but instead she freezes, cheeks turning the softest shade of pink. cute, you think, there and then gone so fast you think someone might have just said it out loud, but youâre the only two in the store, so maybe you are just going insane.
âi donâtâ not recently?â liv says, her voice strained. âor. uh. usually. in general. i donât think he likes me all that much.â
this, for some reason, sets off blaring alarm bells in your mind, flashing red and screaming loud enough you canât ignore them.
âokay,â you say instead. âwell. i donât⌠thatâs not my business. i just know that, like, he knows something, and i sort of know things, andââ you sigh. reset. âi mean, i donât really know anything. but thereâs⌠thereâs weird shit going on, is the point.â
âthereâs always weird shit going on,â liv retorts. âi got, like, possessed last week. i think our storeâs haunted.â
you freeze, all too familiar with the creeping, ghostly feeling the store carries, fingers grasping like tendrils around you, around your mind, strangling you until youâre purple and bruised. it feels like someoneâs dumped ice water down your back.
âright,â you say lamely. âyeah. uh. what did it⌠feel like?â
liv raises an eyebrow. âbad? painful? hot? i donâtâ or, no,â she clarifies at your look, âhang on, like burning hot, not like. iâm not into being possessed.â
âcongrats,â says wendell, who has apparently learned how to fucking teleport in the last two hours since you last saw him.
you jolt, but just roll your eyes when he rests his elbow on your head. liv blinks at him, face slowly turning redder and redder, and as you glance back and forth between her and wendell, the pieces fall into place.
apparently, this is where your brain draws the line, because a white hot pain erupts behind your eyes, and you double over. someone rests a hand on your shoulder, but you canât tell who because you canât see a single thing, because everything is just light and color and you are the earth and you are the air and you are the world.
flashes. a forest. a nightclub. a hotel. a race. a mcdonaldâs, for some reason. a fight. a prison. a lounge. a boat. a rainforest. the actual goddamn white house. a party.
you are lanie woodward but you havenât always been lanie woodward, have you?
âthat,â liv says, her voice miles away and yet right inside your skull. âit was like that.â
a car. a game. a fight. a kiss.
you donât see the moments so much as you become them. you are free and bright and electric and you are alive, alive, alive.
âlanie,â wendell says, concern bleeding into fear, âyour eyes are turning green? i donât think thatâs, like, supposed toââ
âyâknow what?â your voice echoes throughout the world. âi think we should talk.â

btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
you know those studies showing that cursing helps with pain tolerance or whatever. thatâs how i feel about making my weird little noises to get through my basic daily activities. sometimes you just have to go hggblaaaah for a minute so you can find the strength within yourself to get up or wash the dishes or send an email. mmmnneh. urgh. the torments are unending but you can always make some little sounds about it.
and thatâs whirred up! @starstruckodysseys - Tumblr Blog | Tumlook
