A long time ago there was a celestial war. The dark void, Roo, thought that she deserved to be the sole ruler. She creates and army of darkness and attacks. She manages to defeat everyone until only the sun and moon were standing.
The king and queen used the last of their powers to trap Roo. They knew they wouldn't survive this so at their final moments they each sent a tiny drop of their essence to earth with the hope that eventually a new king and queen would rise.
They sent Alastor, the north star and their most trusted advisor, to earth along with the last pieces of them. He would be their guide and would train them to become the sun and moon.
The essence of the sun king landed in a prince, Lucifer Mornigstar.
The essence of the moon queen landed in a baby girl just left on the steps of an orphanage, Lilith Magne.
Lucifer grew up surrounded by golden walls. He wanted nothing more than to leave the kingdom and family he felt trapped in.
Lilith was raised in an orphanage and kicked out the day she turned eighteen. She's been on her own ever since, she took jobs when she could and when she didn’t have a way to make money she stole. All she wanted was to save up to leave the kingdom that she despised.
Neither of them knew of the power they held until the day that they did.
Something inside them unlocked and their powers went wild. They were terrified and didn't understand what was happening. Then a strange man showed up.
He calmed them down and told them that they were infused with celestial power. He offered to teach them how to control their gifts and they agreed.
Neither Lilith or Lucifer knew about the other yet. He didn't tell them the whole story. He didn't tell them about the past war or that there were still agents of Roo out to take their power and free her. Right now he focused on training them to use their powers.
Alastor posed as Lucifer’s manservant so his family wouldn't question why he was around during the day and at night he would go to Lilith.
During the months of training Alastor was starting to get close to them in ways he wasn't expecting. He was just supposed to be their guiding star but he was starting to care about them. It didn’t matter though because Lucifer and Lilith were destined to be together, it was always the sun and the moon. There was no throne for the north star.
Eventually Alastor had to introduce them. He snuck Lucifer out of the palace one of the nights to go see Lilith.
Lilith didn't like the prince. She despised the entire royal family that sat on their thrones and let people like her suffer. She was powerless and these new powers meant so much to her. She didn't think it was fair that someone who's already so powerful gets this too.
Lucifer was so excited to meet Lilith. He'd barely stepped foot out of the palace and hadn't met many of his people. He couldn't wait to talk to her and learn more about life outside his gilded cage.
Then they saw the care the other held for Alastor. Lucifer’s excitement soured to jealousy. Lilith despised this man.
Alastor had hoped their first meeting would go better then it did but wasn't very surprised when it didn't but it didn’t matter how the two felt now because he knew thir feelings would change. He just hoped his would too.
They started training together though Lucifer and Lilith had seemed to compete more then actually work together. It was frustrating for Alastor who needed this to go well.
Then they were attacked. Three agents of Roo found them. Alastor had spent the years before Lucifer and Lilith unlocked their powers fighting them and trying to lead them as far away from the power of the sun and moon as possible. He knew they would find them eventually he just wished it hadn't been so soon.
Alastor, Lilith, and Lucifer have no choice but to run. Lilith and Lucifer didn't have enough control of their powers and they refused to work together. Alastor knew they wouldn't win this fight.
Neither Lilith or Lucifer mind leaving the kingdom even if they're going on the run because they've always wanted to leave anyway.
So they take the training on the road. Eventually Lilith and Lucifer learn how to work together and their jealousy eases as they start to fall for each other though their love for Alastor never diminishes.
