The Morningstars but as an Incredibles style superhero family where Lilith and Lucifer start dating Alastor and they all have to hide their identities but they just suck really bad at hiding their powers
I was thinking that Lucifer could have the power to shapeshift and in the safety of his own home he likes to turn into different animals and curl up and fall asleep in random places
So Alastor will come over and there will just be some type of animal on the couch and Lilith and Charlie have to say that Lucifer is their pet
Alastor: I haven't seen any kind of cage or enclosure or cage for your snake and bird...
Lilith: They're free range
Alastor: I haven't seen a litter box for the cat either
Charlie: We trained him to use the toilet
Alastor: I haven't seen any pet food anywhere
Lucifer: They eat dinner at the table with us
Alastor: I don't see any toys for them don't pets need enrichment?
Lilith: You're so right we're terrible pet owners we'll give them all away
Alastor wonders how long this type of thing will go on until they finally break and tell him the truth
I think all their superhero friends (I assume the Sins are their friends and fellow heroes) know that Alastor knows, and have a bet going on as to how obvious Alastor can be about knowing before the Morningstars figure it out. The problem is everyone is betting that he could tell Lucifer to his face that Al knows he's a shape shifter and Lucifer would panic and think Al was referencing some mundane non powered thing
The Mornigstars introduce the sins to Alastor and they're all shocked that they told their fairly new boyfriend about their powers. So after Alastor leaves they sit Lucifer and Lilith down because Alastor knowing that they have powers is extremely dangerous why the hell would they do that
Lucifer and Lilith just kind of stare at them like ??? We didn't tell him ??? He doesn't know ??? What are you talking about ???
And the sins just look at each other and the second Lucifer and Lilith are out of sight they start the betting pools
What is gonna have to happen for Lucilith to realize that Alastor knows? Cuz I feel like they are so deep in denial right now that he could go up to their superhero personas, unmask them, call them by both their superhero and real names in the same sentence, and at least Lucifer is able to justify it away? Also, does Alastor have powers in the verse? Or maybe no powers but he uses magic and just never elaborates that it isn't superpowers?
Lucifer and Lilith are going to PANIC when they find out.
In this universe superheroes have become illegal. A lot of them were arrested when this law passed but most of them (including Lucifer and Lilith) went into hiding. If anyone finds out about their powers they could be arrested or worse.
They're mostly worried about Charlie who was born after the law had passed and has powers that she can never use even though she so badly wants to be a superhero like her parents used to be.
They love Alastor but this is their daughter's life they're talking about and they do not like that Alastor's holding it in his hands.
I do think at one point they're going to have to address it even if they don't want to out of fear. Either Alastor finally brings it up or he's standing RIGHT there as they're using their powers. Lucifer will try to play it off but Lilith will finally let herself admit that they're not as safe as she'd thought they'd been.
Alastor has to reassure them that he won't say anything but it takes them a long time to fully believe that.
And nope! Alastor doesn't have powers. I was thinking that his mother might though and she was one of the first superheroes that was arrested. This gives him a connection to superheroes, a personal hatred for the law, and a reason to have hidden the fact that he knew about their powers so long (he doesn't want to endanger them and watch them be ripped away from him and each other)
Ooo that's interesting I hadn't thought about the whole them not really trusting Alastor cuz of Charlie. On one hand, I think Canon Alastor would at least pretend to be if not actually be pleased with the lack of trust, but in this verse where he is dating them and trusts them even tho he is not usually interested in all the frivolous romantic nonsense (I like him as somewhere on the spectrum of AroAce no matter the universe), do you think he'd be hurt? Like, no way he'd show it, but I imagine that these people he has opened his heart to when he so rarely does that thinking he'd hurt Charlie who he also cares for...that would hurt. I wonder if he's made references to his mother's identity, like he thinks he's being super transparent about it, but Lucilith don't realize (too busy trying to divorce the idea of superpowers and Alastor in any context). Cuz if so, I could see him leaving, at least for a while. And since the Sins see Alastor as somewhat trustworthy, given that they are taking bets on when Lucilith will realize he knows and not like telling them super explicitly, I imagine at least Ozzie and Bee will scold them.
I get why they'd take a while to fully trust him, it is a huge secret and dangerous, but I think that this could seriously cause Alastor to pull back from them. Like, he's known this entire time, your former team knows he knew, and he doesn't even get a little bit of trust? And if he's been more explicit about his mom at this point, I think he would actually be offended. Actually, great idea, Charlie knew Alastor knew all this time (she was a HUGE fan of Alastor's mom and immediately got all the references he made and OMG her idol's son is dating her parents???? Jackpot!!! Fav superhero can be her new grandma!!!!), but the Morningstar obliviousness didn't pass her by, no, she somehow thought that her parents knew Alastor knew, and that all the little ways they tried to "hide" the secret were these weird inside jokes. In this case, I think Charlie would be offended on Alastor's behalf! If Alastor moves out for a bit cuz of the lack of trust, I could see at least one time Charlie getting into a catastrophic argument with her parents (it doesn't have to be about Alastor), and she goes running out to her Nini's house. Cue Lucilith panicking, and only realizing a lot later where she might have gone. Fearing the worst because it had been a while and they'd never been out of contact with Charlie this long ever, they burst in to Alastor's house to find him showing Charlie his mom's old hero stuff.
They then have to reassess and admit that they were wrong, Alastor can be trusted.
Can you tell I like to hurt Alastor? I don't know why, he's my fav, but I think since he tries to come off as unaffected by stuff, I make him suffer in my headcanons lmao
Alastor IS hurt even though a part of him actually understands the distrust but he's also not going to be in a relationship where they don't trust him. Alastor does break up with them but Lucifer and Lilith don't actually want to let him out of their sight because they're scared he'll reveal their secret. This only makes Alastor angrier because yes he broke up with them but he wouldn't try to hurt them or Charlie like this.
The sins and Charlie are actually very angry about this. The sins scold them because Alastor has known for months and he's never said anything. Alastor very clearly cares for them and they know that Lucifer and Lilith care for him too even if they're letting fear get in the way of that. Charlie really misses Alastor and while she also didn't know that Alastor knew about the powers she doesn't understand why her parents are so scared like it's ALASTOR he cares for them and they love him too.
Also about Alastor’s mom being Charlie’s favorite superhero I actually think Lucifer would try and keep superheroe stories far away from Charlie. He knows that Charlie wants to be a superhero just like her parents were but she legally cannot do that and even if there wasn't that law he wouldn't want there to be any chance of her getting hurt. He doesn't even tell her stories about his own years as a hero even though Charlie begs him to.
I can see Charlie running away to see Alastor though. She doesn't care about her parents rules and she's confident Alastor would never say anything to put them in danger. Alastor of course has to call Lilith and Lucifer when she shows up at his door even though he's glad to see her but this actually gives them a chance to talk.
Lilith and Lucifer have been getting yelled at by the sins and Charlie ever since the breakup and now seeing him with Charlie and the way she cries and clings to him while he comforts her while trying to say goodbye... yeah they can't let him go they just can't.
So finally they talk and Alastor finally tells them about him mother because he hadn't told them that before. It was painful and he didn't like to think about it much less share it with other people. And Lilith and Lucifer finally realize that the law hurt him just as much as it hurt them and that he really would never tell anyone out of his own fear of losing anyone else.
