One thing I’ve observed reading shadowhunters recently is like the general rule seems to be “you cannot kill downworlders unless they break the accords”

It sounds fair in theory, but in practice? Shadowhunters could absolutely twist that to their advantage. Obviously we know our mc’s wouldn’t do that, but like the institute in Buenos Aires thar was run by corrupt leadership before Alec got there? They probably DID that at some point to get as many were wolf woman as they did.

It shouldn’t matter that they’re downworlders, just that they broke a law. So that wording is really interesting to me. I know this probably isn’t how you’re supposed to look at it but if it was intentional then I think that’s pretty smart. Shows how much the shadowhunters need to improve when it comes to that. We knew that already but just another layer.

The accords probably haven’t been updated since the 1860’s (minus the cold peace laws after the dark war, and ending the cold peace after exile) so i guess it makes sense.
