Ellen switched to her portable communicator; “that is a good point. Alright, I’ll collect some things on the way down. I will be there shortly”
Daniel quickly unpacked the crates, laying out the different parts and components in an organised grid, cataloging each part as he removed it.
"All present and correct" he said to himself as he heard the turbolift desending behind him.

"There may be a bit of scarring on you arms, which took the worst of the blast, but the burns on your face and chest should heal just fine," Alenis replied as she began to clean up the remains of the hasty surgery. "The entry point from the metal should heal nicely as well."
"Fantastic, thankyou Alenis" he replied. "Anything I can do in return?"
"Just get some rest for now," Alenis replied with a smile. "I’ll think of a way for you to pay me back later," she added teasingly.
"Oh no..." he said jokingly. "Thanks again, I should probably let you get on now".

Alenis raised an eyebrow at him as she fished the metal piece out of the tub of antiseptic liquid. “Well, I guess. Though why you’d want to keep a foot long piece of metal that’s been pulled out of your leg is beyond me.” She wiped off the object and placed it by his bed. “There you go.”
"Why thankyou" he said, laying his head back again. "Is there any permenant burn damage or has the starfleet medical wizards concocted something? I personally wouldn't mind, theres no better conversation starter than an old injury".

There was a hiss as the machine powered down and the piece of metal dropped into a vat of sterilising chemicals. “Now for the burns I guess” he murmered through half closed eyes.
Alenis nodded in response, then picked up a hypo. “Here, this will help with the pain.” She pressed it up against his neck. “Removing the metal was the worst part. It will all be easier from here.”
"Can I keep it?" he asked, opening his eyes fully and looking up at her. "The metal bar? Pwease?"

Daniel felt a searing pane in his leg, like someone was pulling a string of barbed wire across his nerves, but he concentrated his mind a way. Instead focusing on a patch of rust on an overhead beam.
Alenis watch as Daniel stiffened, trying to muscle his way through the pain. His jaw was clenched and his face was white.
"Breath, Daniel," she said. "It’s almost over."

Alenis knelt down beside him. “Stay focused on me,” she said calmly. “Keep singing if you think that will help.” Then she flipped open her com. “I need assistance at the sick bay lift, stat.”
He took a deep breath, focusing on the handrail of the lift “Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town, waiting for someone or something to show you the way” He rocked back and forth, clutching at his leg.
The doors of the lift swished open and two nurses rushed in. They picked up Daniel and quickly brought him over to a biobed. Alenis followed them and after Daniel had been laid down, she sent them off to get supplies.
"Alright, we need to get stuff on these burns and we need to get the metal out of his leg," She said to a nurse that was helping her. Then Alenis turned to Daniel. "Would you rather me tell you this isn’t going to hurt, or tell you the truth?"
"Just do it when I least expect it" he said through gritted teeth.

"Could you sing more of it for me?" Alenis asked as they finally reached the lift. "Sick bay," she commanded the lift.
He gulped "...fritter and waste the hours In an off-hand way" He slowly slumped to the floor of the lift as it began it's journey upwards.

Alenis saw his eyes go vacant. “Hey, stop, stay with me,” she said, snapping her fingers in front of his face. “Focus on staying awake.” She paused for a second, breathing hard under Daniel’s weight. “Why don’t you tell me about the song you’re singing. It is a song right?”
