So today i finally finished my art project, which had the concept of “body image” as it’s theme. And it was a class decision to hang it up by the cafeteria where we all pass by. But as i was walking to and from the cafeteria, all i could hear were people saying how “it was just an excuse to have naked girls hanging in the school” or other comments on those lines. How do you expect woman to feel confident with their bodies if every single time we show a little skin we’re judged for it. This piece of art is not to be sexualized it is to show everyone that it is ok to be accepting of your own skin. And how is it any different than posting a revealing bikini picture online? Most bras cover more than bikinis anyways! I asked these three beautiful girls to model for me because i wanted to show that our weight and our bodies do not define us and i hoped to inspire others, but instead all i heard were negative comments about what they are wearing. Would people still be saying this if i had chosen to get 3 guys shirtless? I honestly doubt it. Now i want to clarify something. The models i chose all have very good bodies, but i did that for a reason. I wanted to show that even people who have amazing bodies feel insecure and don’t want to expose them. Our own insecurities are exactly that, our own. It takes a lot of courage to stand in your underwear and pose for a camera and i think these girls did it amazingly so please, if you have a problem with the art piece, talk to me directly or keep your negative comments to yourself
