“Girls are cruelest to themselves. Someone like Emily Brontë, who remained a girl all her life despite her body as a woman, had cruelty drifted up in all the cracks of her like spring snow.”

🏙 INTRODUCING ISSUE II ⛪️ SUBURBAN SPRINGTIME: DUELING SUNS
urban spaces & rural places
for issue ii of suburban springtime, we’re taking a step outside of suburbia in each direction to explore both urban and rural themes. from one side, the zine will explore urban themes: housing, public space, abandonment, divine lorraine-era cults. but flip the zine over, and we’ll explore rural themes — think little white churches, old farm houses, open space and loneliness. stay tuned for a full-page visual spread in the middle of the zine that will explore how urban and rural themes interact with each other. this time, we’re stepping out to explore our differences and our similarities.
like issue i, this experiment will culminate in a print zine as well ask a release party/reading series in late march. I encourage local philadelphia artists to contribute!!
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: saturday, february 23
