Aeric's SL Argon Chariot: Crappy used Argon Chariot but well loved. It's gone through many makeovers as Aeric can't decide what it should be styled like. It currently looks bitchin', Sidero helped him with that.

Aeric's Coreforge Stryker: Originator Era Forge Stryker. It's really clapped and Aeric is way too ambitious about it.

Marek's SL Argon Chariot: It's built better than Aeric's ship but doesn't look as cool. Marek has weird taste. Marek has plans to restyle it to look like a Radon Superchariot.

In person, Gorath can be enthusiastic, appreciative, and genuinely excited about his ship, the Havoc. He regularly praises the team, thanks them for their work, and expresses excitement about the project’s progress. Yet once he leaves, that optimism can disappear entirely. A few hours later he may be sending angry messages, questioning every decision, criticizing the project, or threatening to pull support altogether. This constant swing between appreciation and frustration leaves much of Star Works exhausted.

The complicated reality is that Gorath has legitimate reasons to be upset. He has invested an enormous amount of credits into the Havoc, and years of delays, setbacks, and changing expectations have eroded his trust in the project. The problem is that Gorath has very little understanding of shipbuilding itself. He often struggles to evaluate technical decisions, articulate exactly what he wants, or distinguish between genuine issues and normal project challenges. This leaves him heavily dependent on the people around him for guidance.

Because of this, Gorath is particularly vulnerable to influence. Aldros often shapes his expectations, while Aeric frequently helps him navigate design decisions and determine what he actually wants from the project. As a result, Gorath has developed a stronger relationship with Aeric than most of Starworks, viewing him as one of the few people willing to listen to his concerns without immediately dismissing them.

At the same time, Gorath’s trust in Starworks remains fragile. Despite his frustrations, he refuses to abandon the project or move it elsewhere. Instead, he appointed MOPAR (an owner of a similar vessel and someone with significantly more technical knowledge) as his personal advisor. While Gorath sees this as a sensible decision, it has become a source of tension within Starworks, as the involvement of an outside advisor complicates an already strained relationship.

Outside of his messages and frustrations about the Havoc, Gorath is generally known as a generous and personable. He has a tendency to make grand gestures of generosity, whether that means sponsoring expensive events, or supporting Star Works in ways that go far beyond what would normally be expected of a client. In those moments, he can be remarkably warm, enthusiastic, and big-hearted.

Easygoing and friendly, he lacks the intensity and investment that most people expect from someone in his position as Marshal of Shellworks. While he means well, he can be unreliable, and when asked to complete something, there is no guarantee it will happen on schedule, or at all.

Unlike others who are deeply invested in Star Works and its projects, Marek often seems detached from the work itself. What genuinely interests him is design. He wants to contribute creatively to Shellworks and help shape projects rather than simply oversee them. However, he finds himself trapped in a frustrating cycle: he is told he has not proven himself enough to take on design responsibilities, yet he is rarely given opportunities to prove that he can.

Marek is openly critical of many of the people running Star Works. He strongly dislikes the Havoc project and has little respect for Aldros, Pavo, or Gorath. His relationship with Cyrus is also strained, though the feeling is often mutual. Despite this, Marek is not particularly confrontational. He is more likely to complain about something than actively fight over it.

Outside of work, Marek's personal life raises more than a few eyebrows. He has a tendency to make questionable decisions, particularly involving drinking and an online girlfriend whom he frequently talks about and sends money to. While Marek insists everything is legitimate, most of his coworkers are considerably less convinced.

TIG is unapologetically himself. He embraces his eccentricities without shame, and the more people learn about his personal life, the more bewildered they tend to become. From bizarre hobbies to deeply questionable online activities, Tig has a habit of revealing information about himself that leaves everyone else wondering if they were better off not knowing.

One of his more infamous side ventures involves operating a remote Hull Works service business while roleplaying online as a clumsy anime girl named Mig. Somehow, against all logic, it works.

At Star Works, one of Tig’s favorite pastimes is distracting Ajax Orion. Whether it’s asking endless questions, interrupting him with conversations, or simply testing the limits of his patience, Tig seems to derive entertainment from bothering someone who just wants to focus on their work.

OEM is one of the strangest individuals at Star Works. Highly intelligent and exceptionally talented, he possesses extensive knowledge of both Hull Works and Propulsion Works, yet his greatest weakness is consistency. He rarely arrives on time, works at bizarre hours, and often shows up when Starworks is technically closed. At times, it seems as though he operates according to an entirely different schedule than everyone else.

This drives Cyrus and Jaxo (his manager) absolutely crazy. While they value reliability and structure, OEM seems incapable of following either. Yet despite his unconventional habits, the work he promises to complete almost always gets done. This has led Aeric and Azen to defend him, arguing that while his methods are frustrating, his results speak for themselves.

Part of OEM’s eccentricity comes from the fact that he doesn’t truly live near Star Works. His home is at the Forge, making his decision to commute to Starworks seem both impractical and suspicious. When traveling home feels like too much effort, he will simply remain in orbit around the moon where Starworks is located until he decides to return to work.

Socially, OEM can be difficult to understand. He often misses social cues, says things that others find shocking or inappropriate, and rarely realizes how his words might be interpreted. Most of the time, he means no harm, he simply thinks differently than the people around him.

Ajax Orion is one of the most skilled and respected operators in Star Works. Known for the exceptional quality of his work and his relentless attention to detail, he has earned the admiration of nearly everyone around him.

Although he is the Marshal of Hull Works, it is a role he never wanted. Jaxo would much rather focus on his own projects than supervise others, and much of his frustration comes from being pulled away from the work he actually enjoys. This is especially true when dealing with distractions from coworkers like TIG, whose constant questions and interruptions take up a lot of his time.

Jaxo is meticulous, stubborn, and something of a perfectionist. He has very clear ideas about how things should be done and can be slow to accept alternatives, particularly when he believes his method produces the best result. This often puts him at odds with OEM, whose more inconsistent and improvisational approach clashes directly with Jaxo's need for order and consistency.

Castillo is one of the kindest and most beloved people in Star Works. Hardworking, and positive, he serves as the support system that keeps much of the organization running. Whether it’s moving parts, organizing materials, delivering supplies, or helping different departments get what they need, Castillo handles the countless small but essential tasks that allow everyone else to do their jobs.

Despite the physical demands of his work, Castillo rarely complains. He approaches every task with enthusiasm and responds to others with genuine kindness and respect. His positive attitude makes him easy to work with and deeply appreciated by nearly everyone at Star Works.

Cyrus, his brother, is especially protective of him and cares for him deeply. While many of the people around him are sarcastic, cynical, or prone to crude humor, Castillo remains remarkably innocent. He tends to see the best in others and rarely participates in the teasing or negativity that surrounds him.

Pavo is one of the co-owners of Starworks, a position that confuses nearly everyone who works there.

Business-minded and eager to contribute, Pavo genuinely wants to be useful. The problem is that he often has little understanding of the actual work being done around him. While others are solving complex operational problems, managing customers, or keeping projects on schedule, Pavo frequently finds himself disconnected from the realities of the organization. He wants to help, but rarely knows how.

As a result, Pavo has developed a habit of managing work rather than performing it. When given a responsibility, his first instinct is often to delegate it to someone else. Unfortunately, this delegation is not always strategic. More often than not, it simply shifts the burden onto whoever is unfortunate enough to be nearby.

This is a constant source of frustration for the rest of Starworks.

Ajax, in particular, harbors a deep resentment toward Pavo. Because the two occasionally work together, Ajax frequently finds himself inheriting responsibilities that Pavo was originally supposed to handle. To Ajax, Pavo represents one of the most irritating types of incompetence: the kind that creates work for everyone else while remaining blissfully unaware of the burden it causes.

Cyrus and Aeric share many of these frustrations, though they are generally less vocal about them (Aeric finds it to be amusing even). All three recognize a common pattern in Pavo’s behavior: he wants to participate in the operation of Starworks, but rarely contributes in ways that meaningfully move it forward.

Despite this, Pavo is not malicious.

In fact, he is often surprisingly pleasant. He tends to respond warmly to those who treat him with kindness and generally wants positive relationships with the people around him. He is not driven by cruelty, greed, or a desire to harm others. More often, he is simply out of his depth.

One of Pavo’s defining traits is his obsession with details. He can spend enormous amounts of time analyzing, discussing, and refining very specific aspects of a problem. Unfortunately, he often struggles to distinguish between important details and trivial ones. While others are focused on solving major issues, Pavo may become fixated on a procedural nuance, a formatting decision, or a minor organizational concern that has little impact on the broader situation.

This tendency makes working with him difficult. Conversations that should take minutes can become prolonged discussions about matters that ultimately do not affect the outcome (which frustrates Ajax a lot). While Pavo often believes he is improving a process, those around him frequently feel as though he is creating unnecessary work.

Another source of tension is Pavo’s relationship with authority.

Although he is often uncertain about what is happening within Starworks, he strongly desires involvement and influence. He wants to be included in discussions, informed about decisions, and recognized as an important figure within the organization. At times, this manifests as a subtle power struggle, particularly when he feels overlooked or excluded. He occasionally attempts to assert authority, expand his influence, or position himself as a decision-maker, even in areas where he lacks expertise.

These moments can make him frustrating to deal with, especially when his desire for authority exceeds his ability to contribute. What begins as a genuine desire to help can occasionally evolve into a need to feel important.

Cyrus is one of the most dependable and disciplined individuals in Star Works. Serious, hardworking, and deeply committed to his responsibilities, he approaches both his work and his values with a level of conviction that few others can match. While he is capable of being playful, goofy, and relaxed (especially around close friends like Ajax) there is always a sense that he carries the weight of the organization on his shoulders.

Unlike Aeric and Ajax, who view Star Works as just a means to an end, Cyrus takes the mission of Star Works itself seriously. He believes in the work. He believes in responsibility. He believes that if something is worth doing, it should be done properly. As a result, he often expects more from others than they are willing or able to give, which can create tension with people he genuinely cares about.

Part of this dedication stems from his history. Cyrus from Valtruvia, a place marked by hardship and limited opportunity. In many ways, he views Aldros as the person who gave him a future. Whether or not that belief is entirely justified, it has left Cyrus with a profound sense of loyalty and indebtedness. For much of his life, he has felt that he owes Aldros something, and that debt has influenced countless decisions he has made. However, as the story progresses, that loyalty is gradually tested.

The more responsibility Cyrus takes on, the more clearly he begins to see the flaws in the man he once admired. Aldros continues to create problems through poor decisions, unrealistic promises, and reckless leadership, while Cyrus is left to solve the resulting crises. Over time, the gap between the image of Aldros that Cyrus wants to believe in and the reality of who Aldros actually is becomes increasingly difficult to ignore.

Despite his stern exterior, Cyrus is naturally compassionate. He is not someone who speaks about his feelings often, nor does he seek recognition for his kindness, but he consistently takes care of the people around him in small and meaningful ways. If he notices a problem, he quietly tries to solve it. When he realized Aeric was struggling to feed himself, he get food or split his own for Aeric. He does similar things for Ajax, Az, and others without ever expecting gratitude in return. To Cyrus, caring for people is simply part of his responsibility.

While Aldros serves as the public face of Star Works, much of the actual operation rests on Cyrus’s shoulders. He coordinates projects, solves logistical problems, manages crises, and keeps the organization functioning when it should by all rights fall apart. The success of Star Works depends heavily on his competence, yet that competence often leads others to place even more responsibility on him.

Cyrus rarely complains. In fact, part of him enjoys the work. He enjoys solving problems, carrying responsibility, and being someone others can rely upon. Yet over time, the demands placed on him become overwhelming. Aldros increasingly treats him as both a manager and a scapegoat, expecting him to absorb every failure, solve every problem, and carry every burden without question. Again and again, Cyrus is pushed to his limits, but he never truly breaks.

He bends under pressure, suffers under expectations, and endures frustrations that would drive many others away, but he continues moving forward. There is a quiet resilience to him that borders on stubbornness. When others would walk away, Cyrus stays. When others would collapse, Cyrus endures.

This resilience earns him deep admiration from those who know him personally. Aeric respects him tremendously. Ajax considers him one of his closest friends. The people closest to Cyrus understand that beneath his stern demeanor is an exceptionally caring and loyal individual.

However, most employees never see that side of him. To much of Star Works, Cyrus appears distant, authoritative, and deeply aligned with management. He is often viewed less as a coworker and more as a supervisor, a representative of the system rather than a participant within it. Because he is the one enforcing schedules, managing projects, and delivering difficult decisions, many workers unconsciously associate him with Aldros himself.

Aeric serves as the lens through which much of Star Works is experienced. While other characters are driven by ambition, duty, pride, or ideology, Aeric is primarily motivated by his relationships with the people around him. He cares far more about the individuals at Star Works than he does about the business itself, and it is those personal connections that keep him invested even as he becomes increasingly disillusioned with the organization.

At his core, Aeric is kind-hearted, patient, and understanding. He possesses a quiet ability to make others feel comfortable, often encouraging people to reveal parts of themselves they would normally keep hidden. Much of this comes from his non-threatening nature. He rarely judges, rarely demands attention, and approaches others with genuine curiosity and empathy. As a result, people often find themselves opening up to him without quite realizing why.

Unlike many of the stronger personalities at Starworks, Aeric is not someone who seeks the spotlight. In fact, he actively avoids it. He prefers to remain on the sidelines, observing rather than leading. When attention is directed toward him, he often becomes uncomfortable and instinctively minimizes his own role, accomplishments, or needs. He tends to make himself smaller so that others can take up space.

This tendency is closely tied to one of his greatest struggles: Aeric has difficulty believing that other people genuinely care about him. While he freely offers compassion and understanding to those around him, he often struggles to recognize his own value in return. Acts of kindness affect him deeply because they challenge a belief he quietly carries, that he is easier to overlook than he is to love.

Because of this, Aeric forms powerful emotional attachments to those who demonstrate care, loyalty, or support. He remembers kindnesses long after others have forgotten them and often feels profound gratitude toward the people who make him feel seen. These relationships become incredibly important to him, sometimes more important than he is willing to admit.

At the same time, Aeric’s emotional world is not defined solely by affection. While he is generally forgiving and patient, he can develop deep resentment toward those who repeatedly hurt, manipulate, or betray others. Nowhere is this more evident than in his feelings toward Aldros. Unlike many characters who fear, tolerate, or attempt to appease Aldros, Aeric harbors a genuine hatred for him. To Aeric, Aldros represents many of the qualities he despises most: dishonesty, exploitation, and a willingness to sacrifice people for personal gain.

Az is one of the most expressive, energetic, and emotionally driven individuals in Starworks. Quick-witted, charismatic, and funny, he has a natural ability to draw people in. His larger-than-life personality often makes him the center of a room, and despite his flaws, he is deeply loved by those around him.

Beneath that humor and enthusiasm, however, lies a someone who immensely emotionally unstable.

Az holds both himself and others to exceptionally high standards. Much of this stems from his own past, where he was often expected to perform at the highest level and rarely afforded the luxury of failure. As a result, he can become frustrated when others fail to meet what he perceives as their potential. He is easily stressed and, unfortunately, does not always carry that stress gracefully. His intensity can overwhelm those around him, and his expectations can sometimes feel impossible to satisfy.

Azen also has an unwavering belief that people should be treated good and fairly. More than anyone else in Starworks, Az is willing to sacrifice himself for others. He routinely gives away his time, energy, sleep, and personal well-being if it means helping someone else. If he witnesses someone being mistreated, ignored, or unfairly blamed, he cannot remain silent. Whether it is confronting Aldros over an unjust criticism or defending a someone who cannot defend themselves, Az instinctively places himself between others and harm.

Az frequently chooses the morally right path even when it is the most difficult, expensive, or professionally dangerous option available. He rarely calculates whether standing up for someone will benefit him. If he believes something is wrong, he acts. While his methods are not always tactful or strategic, his intentions are almost always rooted in compassion and a desire to protect others.

Ironically, this tendency makes him one of the people who suffers most within Starworks. He absorbs problems that do not belong to him, takes responsibility for situations he did not create, and repeatedly places himself in difficult positions for the sake of others. Time and time again, he bears consequences that more pragmatic individuals would simply avoid.

Despite his frustrations with others, Az is not a vindictive person. He may become angry, disappointed, or critical when people fail to live up to his ideals, but he rarely gives up on them. He believes people can be better, and even when they let him down, he continues to care about them.

This is why so many people are drawn to him. Cyrus respects him deeply. Aeric is obsessed with Az more than he wants to admit. OEM and much of Propulsion Works view him with a mixture of admiration, affection, and exasperation. They recognize that while Az can be an exhausting commander/marshal, an overwhelming coworker, and an emotional whirlwind, he is also one of the funnest people on the floor and will stand up for them always.

At his core, Az is driven by love. He wants people to succeed. He wants them to be treated with dignity. He wants them to become the best versions of themselves. His greatest strength and greatest flaw are one and the same: he cares so much that he cannot look away when others are hurting, even when helping them hurts himself in return.

ADDITIONALLY,

Another factor that shapes Az’s behavior is his history. Az carries significant emotional scars from past experiences that have left him constantly on guard. As a result, he often interprets ambiguous situations as more hostile than they actually are. A careless comment, an offhand joke, or a poorly worded criticism may be perceived as a personal attack when no harm was intended. When this happens, Az can become difficult to work with, as he reacts to the threat he believes is present rather than the reality of the situation.

Ajax is a fun-loving, easygoing individual who is trapped in a life that was never meant for him. While those around him are deeply invested in their work, Ajax often appears disengaged, distracted, or careless. He makes mistakes frequently, and those mistakes often spill into the responsibilities of people like Aeric, Cyrus, and Az, making them feel frustrated with him. To them, it seems as though Ajax simply does not care as much as they do.

Ajax’s position at Star Works places him on the front lines of problems he did not create. His father, Aldros, routinely overpromises to clients, mismanages expectations, and refuses to admit fault when things go wrong. When angry customers come looking for answers, it is Ajax who is forced to face them. He becomes the shield between Aldros and the consequences of Aldros’s decisions.

Worse still, Ajax is expected to uphold policies and practices he does not personally agree with. Whether it is overcharging customers, obscuring the truth, or defending decisions he knows are wrong, Ajax often finds himself acting against his own moral instincts in order to protect the company and his father. As a result, many people view him as dishonest, lazy, or complicit. Few understand the position he has been placed in.

This contradiction is what makes Ajax a complicated character to judge. He is neither innocent nor malicious. He participates in harmful behavior, but often out of obligation rather than conviction. He bears responsibility for his actions, yet he is also trapped within a system he did not create and lacks the courage to escape.

What's also sad is that Ajax's heart lies elsewhere. He possesses a deep passion for military history, weapons development, and the machinery of war. When discussing these subjects, he becomes focused, knowledgeable, and genuinely alive in a way that he never does at work. It is clear that this is where his true interests and talents reside.

Thalen Rook (aka Big Boss): Threxian, Captain of the Sentinel AX-11.

Nerys: Vaelor, Thalen's wife, Co-captain of the Sentinel.

Elara: Half Threxian-Vaelor, Daughter of Rook and Nerys, Signal Operator for the Sentinel.

Arcturus: Leporian, Hull & Propulsion Operator for the Sentinel.

EXTRA STARSHIPS:

Starward Lance Corporation: Previous name for Starlance, from the Convergence Age.

SLC Sentinel AX-11: Attack Craft-11, labeled the "Sentinel" for its bulk, one of the attack crafts produced by Starward Lance Corp during the Great Convergence War. It is quite large and versatile for an attacker, its large is enough to fit several smaller attacker vessels within it.

Thalen's SLC Sentinel AX-11: One of the few surviving Sentinel AX-11s in the universe. Greatly well kept, it's one of Thalen's greatest prides. Thalen and his crew travel around the universe in it, they hold a small Convergence War ship repair shop inside of it. They also sometimes take it to historic military parades.

RACES:

Humans

Threxian: Four arms, muscular, gray toned complexion.

Vaelor: Similar to humans but with pointed ears and elongated life span, like elves.

The Forged: Robot race, some of them can transform into various forms to serve different purposes.

Leporian: Long drooping ears, furry paws, kind of like an anthropomorphic rabbit.

Drakkan: Horned with scaly skin, short tempered, at war with the Vulkari.

Vulkari: Bug-like, also short tempered, at war with the Drakkan. Their planet is named Vulkarion.

Nerathi: Like humans and vaelor but with striped patterns on their skin.

Velunai: Blue and silver skinned people with gills, aquatic/amphibious.

Helion: Their bodies emit light and flames, they are a diasporadic population.

Valtruvian: Like humans but with fluffy, brown fur and claws.

CREATURES:

[name]: Cute fuzzy harmless creature, local to the Star Works area. They sometimes stick to the walls to sleep.

[name]: Monster thing that Ajax has as a pet. It starts off as cute and grows super fast. It still kinda looks cute big, but they are pretty belligerent.

TIMELINE:

Pre Convergence Age:

Most galactic societies/civilizations are entirely separate, tensions rise as technology improves travel between these societies until a galaxy wide war breaks out. 'Originator' era for the Forge.

Convergence Age:

Coreforge Syndicate invents warp drive.

Starward Lance Corp is created, competes with Coreforge.

The Great Convergence War, Astra Vanguard is created during the war. Many new advancements made to star ships during wartime.

Many of the races mix societies (hence Convergence), and Neutrality Laws are enacted across the races after the war.

Fleet Age:

Starward Lance Corp is renamed to Starlance after the war.

Starship manufacturers shift focus from militarized vessels to commuters and luxury ships. There is a short period of legendary "golden age" starships that were made early in the Fleet Age.

This morning I walked through Shellworks.

Half the crew was working on the Horizon.

Cyrus:

We had extra staffing yesterday, so we assigned some people there.

The Havoc wasn’t generating contract credits anymore, and the instruction was to keep people on profitable deployments.

Aldros:

The Havoc is top priority.

Aeric:

I thought we were told not to put manpower on unprofitable operations--

Aldros:

Don’t quote policy to me.

The Havoc is what matters right now.

Cyrus:

Then there must’ve been a misunderstanding.

The supervisors were operating off the direction we’d been given.

Aldros:

No, the misunderstanding is that nobody seems to know what’s important around here.

Aeric:

We just got here this morning.

We haven’t even had a chance to walk the floor yet!

Aldros:

I shouldn’t have to tell you what’s happening on your own station.

I saw it with my own eyes.

Cyrus:

If the priority changed, we’ll correct it.

Aldros:

It shouldn’t need correcting. Everyone should already be on the Havoc.

Aeric:

I'll go down to Station Two after this meeting and move the crew.
