What is Rohit Shetty's 'Dilwale' starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol about?
Rohit Shetty is all set to go on floors with his next film- titled Dilwale. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in leading roles, the film will also have veterans like Kabir Bedi and Vinod Khanna. The film which is scheduled to release this Christmas was rumoured to be a remake of an old Hindi film.
While names like Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi and Hum were floating around, Rohit clarified that his film is not a remake at all. "I am the same person who's doing the Ram Lakhan remake and I have announced it that way itself. Dilwale is not a remake at all. It's an original script. If it was a remake, why would I hide it when I didn't hide the same about Ram Lakhan?", the director shot back.
Even Shah Rukh Khan, in an interview with dna exclusively revealed that the film has an original script. "Sajid Farhad came to me with the script during Chennai Express itself. They had already planned this film and were also writing a sequel to Chennai Express. I asked them to choose. I told them, 'You guys decide which one you want to do first' because both the films are really funny films", SRK had said.
Now, we have details of who's playing what in the Rohit Shetty directorial venture. Well here's the inside scoop.
Shah Rukh and Kajol will be paired together after five long years! The last time SRK and Kajol were paired opposite each other was in Karan Johar's My Name is Khan. Kajol will play SRK's love interest whereas Kriti will be seen romancing Varun in the film. Varun will play the younger brother while SRK will play the doting elder brother.
Vinod Khanna, who's played dad to Salman Khan in the Dabangg series will be seen playing Shah Rukh and Varun's father in the film. Kabir Bedi on the other hand will be seen essaying the role of Kajol's dad. And according to our sources, the film will have some heavy duty emotional sequences between SRK and Bedi.
Like all other Shetty films, Dilwale too will have an interesting mix of action, drama and comedy. While SRK and Varun will be seen acing the action sequences, it will be Johnny Lever and Fukrey star Varun Sharma who will bring in the fun factor in the film.
The film, which goes on floors this March end will be wrapped around August-September. SRK and Kajol will join the team in June whereas Varun and Kriti will start shooting right away. A big budgeted Christmas release, Dilwale is definitely one of the biggest films to look forward to in 2015! And the way it's raising the barometric levels even before its shoot starts, this is possibly another winner in Rohit-SRK's hands!
