This will be my 9th year in a row participating!! Crazy, right?! This year I've decided to join Team Mystery, although, I will admit, that it was a tough choice! In the end, I went with Mystery because I have a lot of fond memories playing or watching detective games and shows/movies with my dad growing up. So it's a genre I have loved for ages!
This is the first year I've actually donated enough to get CSS, though. So that has been a tough learning curb, but overall, I'm decently happy with how it's turned out. I'll continue to tweak it until the event, though.

Today they commissioned me to draw the main six from G4 in the art style of the G1 special, Rescue at Midnight Castle. This era of MLP was so short lived, and it's a tragedy. The Midnight Castle art style is probably one of my favorites in the entire franchise. I understand why they decided to simplify the style for the G1 show, N' Friends, but still... I love this style so much!

Fankid Lore Pt1

Alright, alright! You've twisted my arm! (I did not need much convincing). Here's the first page to a simple comic thingy regarding my fan-kids' (Daisy and Atommi's) origin story/lore. I'm gonna try and keep these simple so I don't get overwhelmed.
I've had the general story in my head for a while but was hesitant to post anything because the show isn't complete yet. However, at the end of the day, this is an AU. So I'm gonna try and not stress about things changing in the future and just focus on what we got.

YEEEE I'm all done my Art Fight profile! This is my first year working with the CSS coding, and although it took me a second to get a hang of, the Art Fight Discord was able to help me with everything I needed!
I inspired my profile after the Nancy Drew computer game, The Final Scene. I figured that the theater themes presented this year, as well as choosing Team Mystery, made it a perfect choice!
Now, I'm a little concerned if my profile only looks good on my own PC, and not on others. So if anyone wants to check it out and gives me feedback, feel free to do so! Otherwise...

This page and the next few may piss off a few people but I'm okay with that. Jax isn't a great person. I may love him as a character, but having him magically be "fixed" after a fanbaby comes along just doesn't make much sense to me for his character. This is gonna be a long and ugly process for him, and some people may get hurt along the way. Although, this incident in particular, is a total accident. Will Jax apologize or deflect?? I think you all know the answer.
Side note: in case some people are confused atm, my fankid's names are currently still "Atom" and "Eva." These names Caine gave them. Their names are later changed to Atommi and Daisy by the cast, but we aren't there yet.
Rant regarding Jax and how the community views him and mental illness as a whole...
I think it's okay to "hate the sin, love the sinner," as they say.
Jax did a lot of inexcusable things, but nothing that was deserving of suicide. Which, even he did not agree with, because he felt undeserving of love because of what he did/has done. Despite knowing his wrongdoings, he was unable to get himself out of the vicious cycle. The "abused to abuser" pipeline is very real and not uncommon. Especially when the inital abuse comes from a parent.
That's not to say people abused by parents are destined to become abusers. Ragatha is a great example of this. Although she also deals with her traumatic history in destructive ways. She is just better at internalizing it instead of lashing out. (Side bar: I love the parallels between Jax and Ragatha! I could go on a whole other analysis regarding that!)
Parent abuse is one of the most traumatic things a person can go through, and it will affect you through the entirety of your life. Whether you even realize it or not. No ifs, ands, or buts.
Jax in the real world is a great example that he wasn't beyond redeeming and just needed a stable environment to get on his feet. Unfortunately, the circus was not the place for stability. To make matters worse, it's canon(?) that Jax came to the circus as a minor. Which none of the other cast, that we know of, did. Image never being able to experience the real world after the ripe age of 16. Jax, in the circus, potentially never had a job, a relationship, nor even finished high school. All these things are very important for social development. Taking into account that he doesn't even know what a healthy relationship is does not help.
There's a lot to unpack for him as a character, and I think it's totally okay to dislike him. Especially if you have experienced abuse from someone similar to him. However, please be mindful that, at least his back story, is going to be very familiar to some people. To the point where many may relate to him. At least on a surface level. Someone yelled, "I'm glad he killed himself!" In my theater after he already did so. I didn't expect it to affect me as much as it ended up doing so. Nevertheless, it really did punch me in the gut. Mental illness is not pretty and not to be romanticized. I personally feel like TADC did a great job showing off the uglier sides of mental health in a decently realistic way. Again, it's okay to dislike a character. However, yelling something in support of suicide in a room filled with *strangers,* all of whom we can assume probably sufferes from some form of mental illness... it's not only disgusting to do that, but just downright shameful. (They also yelled other things as well, but I feel this is the most important thing of note)
I hope that if the person who did so is reading this, just know you retriggered some suicidal tendencies that I have not had in a long time. Let's just be thankful my husband was there for me and helped talk me through it.
Jax wasn't a good person, but please don't ever wish suicide onto a person. Especially in front of a bunch of people you don't fucking know.

I'm back with another fankid lore comic page! After seeing the final, I originally was gonna draw something super depressing. However, my mental health has already been at an all-time-low. So I decided to do something happy instead! Get back to my fanbabies!!
Luckily, the finally doesn't mess up too much of the lore for my fankids that I have written down. It especially doesn't mess up these early stages when they are babies. So I'm feel to continue as normal. Although, again, please be mindful this is an AU and not going to follow canon completely! (obviously)
Yall. If you’re gonna go and see TADC at the cinema. Please shut the fuck up. I get you’re excited. We all are. But I’d LOOOOOOVE to hear the movie, not you screaming every time your ship was on screen and shouting ‘MY BABY!’ at every character.
This was, unfortunately, my experience, too. I had some opposite people, too, that would boo who they didn't like! I am not joking! 0/10 theater experience, like I love the series too, but how can some people just revert into feral animals?
