Josef Frank (Swedish, born Austria, 1885–1967), textile design Tulpaner, 1940s.
Helga’s cowches are lush and furry life-size soft sculpture floor pillows. Each cowch is handmade, signed and numbered. Each cowch is made in the likeness of a real cow that was or is a resident of Helga’s sanctuary! Helga does not use any real cow parts in her artwork.
Each cowch can be made in three sizes: newborn (3 feet), yearling (5 feet) and adult (8 feet). Prices range from $300 to $800 (the purchase of a cowch is not a tax-deductible expense). Cowches can also be customized for any special purpose. Since each of Helga’s creations is custom-designed, it is best for you to call Helga at 856-455-6637 and describe your request to her. You may also send an e-mail to Helga at her e-mail address:[email protected]. Helga can also be reached by mail at: P. O. Box 227, Shiloh, NJ 08353, U.S.A.
And, WAIT! Helga now also makes rats! Lots of different kinds of rats! And she sells them for $10 each! Best of all, each cowch comes with a free rat! See the gallery below for a selection of cowches and rats!
Helga Tacreiter uses the money made from the sale of ‘cowches’ and ‘possums huts’ to fund her 77 acre cow sanctuary in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Visit her website to learn more.

Meet the Artist Behind Those Amazing, Hand-Knitted Playgrounds
Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam is known for her massive, colorful architectural sculptures/playgrounds. The most famous example of her work is the expansive net-structure inside the “Woods of Net” Pavilion at the Hakone Open Air Museum in Japan - which Horiuchi MacAdam knitted, entirely by hand, over the span of a year.
Witty Street Art
Sydney-based street artist Michael Pederson’s creates quirky street art that is so subtle that it’s easy to walk past it without even knowing it’s there. He encourages people to take a closer look at their streets and neighbourhoods, and second guess some signs. “I think we travel through urban space without really seeing it most of the time,” Pederson told CityLab. “I like the idea of interfering with the overly familiar background blur … Ideally with something a passerby might see out of the corner of an eye.”

Born to be wild
The lady on the scooter was an artist named Szabó Éva (sadly she passed away 4 years ago). She decorated the scooter herself, and as far as I know she could have embroidered the dress herself too, as she was absolutely skilled at the craft and often gave away tapestries to churches.
She worked on cars too (as well as easter eggs, besides teaching folk dance):
She learned the art of Kalocsa patterns from her mother and she believed in keeping the folk motifs alive so passionately that she reportedly told she’d paint an entire house or airplane kalocsai if anyone asked her.
