I feel like I’m one of the people who prefers the 1995 BBC version over the 2005 version. Matthew MacFayden did a solid job, but imo, he did not get the pride aspect of Mr Darcy right like Colin Firth did. Mr. Darcy isn’t just shy, he’s flawed because he’s rude, and doesn’t take the time to “behave in a more gentlemanlike manner”. Elizabeth calls him out on this and he actually works on himself to fix this. I adore the way Colin Firth portrays Mr Darcy’s subtle change in each meeting with Elizabeth. Book-wise, the 1995 version is the more faithful adaptation. Give it a watch if you haven’t already!
