hello hello! this is my not-so-secret sideblog for selfship and other assorted brainrot lovingly focused on Springtrap and William Afton; life hasn’t been the easiest to manage lately, and this is a place to indulge in something embarrassingly comforting (even if that “thing” is a shambling mechanical fursuit filled with corpse parts and mould).

I’m an adult (mid-20s), barely a writer (although I do try!), and atrociously awkward at reaching out to people I think are cool. you can find my silly headcanon posts with the [✒️] tag.

what kind of music do you guys think william would have liked in his lifetime? i enjoy a lot of music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s but im shy to consider what he might like... cus i might just project my own tastes onto him. what do you guys think...

i imagine music was sparse post-springlock failure... lol. although it is funny to imagine him either hating or adoring some weird tune he heard after being unearthed.

im gonna project actually. i cannot deny that i associate him with depeche mode. it's definitely me being biased, but i dont feel like this is unrealistic.

(i can predict when im going to get into a FNAF mood based on how much depeche mode ive been listening to lately, tbh...)

i think he would like Music for the Masses and Violator the most...

(personally) I absolutely associate Afton with new wave, Oingo Boingo and Talking Heads especially... we are allowed to be terribly self-indulgent and project those tastes onto him, I think. that 70s to 80s strange, eccentric, manic era of new wave feels so perfect for William Afton—Depeche Mode fits brilliantly well too. definitely will be updating my playlist...

'Once In A Lifetime' is a song I can sincerely imagine Afton listening to. it's very stuck in my head associated with him (and. the obvious song. I don't need to link it). don't get me started on Oingo Boingo songs I associate heavily with William Afton it's an extensive list.

we're on the same wavelength !!! i definitely had talking heads and oingo boingo in mind (i dont listen to a lot of oingo boingo myself, but i have heard enough to say i definitely agree with you).

if you have the time, id love to know what oingo boingo songs you associate him with ♡ more food for my playlists...

speaking of, i have a playlist with all my own picks for him, if youre interested ^_^ although depeche mode makes up the main body of it lol

(before I forget, brief thoughts on Springtrap and music.) I had this silly thought I was originally going to write into a fic that music 'overrides' the suit's programming to follow audio cues. the suits/animatronics would have been programmed to perform with backing music, of course. so after suffering to the suit's whims and being jerked around forced to follow audio cues (the result of his own programming, salt in the wound), flooding the scare attraction with music through the building's sound system allows him to reign back a little more control. drowns out the abrupt noises that he would have otherwise been forced to approach, or struggle to suppress the suit's programming (the big silly metal ears perking up like a rabbit's, head snapping robotically towards the source of the sound). imagining him standing, sitting quietly as Springtrap, the animatronic suit's jaw resting against the chest. peacefully listening to one of those old show tunes that used to play in the diner, nostalgic, reminiscing. ears flopped idly, sleepily forward.

#strongly hc that he is able to overcome the suit's programming with his own Willpower much of the time but still #the canonical programming of the suit very amusing to me. fun to play with.

what you have to understand about my william afton / depeche mode agenda is that the best selfshipping art ive ever done, and my most risque piece ive posted publicly, was a comic set to the lyrics of strangelove. i still feel like it's some of my best work of all time. the gold standard of my selfshipping.

and strangelove is such a good song for william/springtrap selfshipping... in my opinion...
