Western governments (particularly Australia, the UK, and a handful of US states) have spent the last however many years whining about the Great Firewall, a rational decision enacted primarily to encourage development of indigenous Chinese internet infrastructure, only to turn around and ban half the internet anyway because children might be having too much fun on roblox after they made sure to make public life completely inaccessible to children and miserable anyway, and we can't allow for children having fun or god forbid not being 100% suicidal in our sacred freedom land. God bless the king, someone quickly annihilate that child for trying to have a normal conversation with someone over the internet

The motivation for the closure of the western Internet is clearly censorship, “protecting kids” is just a fig leaf. There is absolutely nothing well intentioned about it.

If I could clone/parallelise myself, I would get my copy to work on a systematic study of pre-Christian moral systems. Not enough attention is given to this topic I think. It would also be a good way to attack all this moral realist nonsense you see in philosophy departments.

Nietzsche being a philologist would always emphasise the moral differences between the Ancient Greeks and the later Christians. But his arguments are always kind of fragmentary, not a systematic study. I would also be especially interested in analysing the values of non-Grecoroman pagans like the Norse. It seems like the Norse, like the Greeks, also had this very “worldly” kind of religion. They believed in all sorts of supernatural stuff (though maybe this is anachronistic since they had no natural/supernatural distinction) but they emphasised worldly deed and worldly fame as the valuable thing and didn’t place any emphasis at all on the next life. Also at Ragnarok everything, including all spirits of the dead, is destroyed, so there isn’t even an eternal afterlife.
