I just fell for a scam and temporarly lost access to my account - then the scammer tried to pull the same thing on a lot of other people from my account. (luckily it's resolved now, thank the stars)

Honestly something that I think is so amazing about Ranczo is that most, if not all the characters just majorly suck. They're stupid, selfish, extremely corrupted, narrow-minded, hypocritical, they all do some pretty messed up stuff sometimes, but from the very beginning you understand that they're not bad people. And maybe it's simply because of how realistic they all are, how inherently Polish, how we've all met people like that in our life, but I can't bring myself to hate any of them. Combined with great humour and character growth, it creates a simply captivating show where you just can't stop watching to see how their lives will turn out
Been a while since I did anything Starbound, but damnit I missed drawing my boi and other Starbound things, so I made a bunch of small sketches! (Warming up my drawing hand after a month of exams)

(The alt colour version exists cause for some reason when I import drawings from my tablet to my phone they end up looking darker, so I have to play with colours to match the phone version to the tablet version (???) but it still looks mostly correct so whichever one is best in your opinion is the canon one)

First one was a quick lil sketch cause I was bored, it took maybe an hour to complete but I really like it, it was from memory but I think I was pretty correct mostly
Then a few days later I got hit with the Once Every So Often Inspiration™ and decided to experiment with some lights and shadows, and just kinda kept going, adding shadows and light sources and moving things around (for a few days it looked kinda wonky but I think it's pretty cool now? I hate some bits but what can you do)

in ur opinion, what are the novakids' beauty standards? we know that Captain Noble is considered quite handsome among novakids(according to other novakid peacekeepers)
my theory is that it either has something to do with their colors(like, lightwaves and all that) or with their passions (seeing how passionate he is about the whole peacekeepers thing and novakids having a firery stars theme going on)
personally i like to think it's both and somewhere out there r chemical supplements for novakids

Never thought about it too deeply but I imagine it's either their actual physical form, how symmetrical their faces are, how tall/strong looking they are and all that (boring answer), or maybe how bright they glow could be important, brighter and shinier being preferable. (Maybe they would get less bright with age?? Or go from less bright to really bright to less bright again? Dunno)
I feel like the colour is more of a personal taste thing and each novakid would consider a different hue to be the best, maybe some of em don't care at all about that (unrelated but I also have a headcanon that maybe some novakids enjoy "dying their flames" by adding different things to their "hair", like for example copper would make their flames have green streaks similar to how irl copper burns with a greenish-blue flame, could be quite cool dunno might give that to an OC some day). Also up to personal taste I think would be their brands. I think they don't get to choose those when they're born and maybe some novakids think simple brands are prettier, others would prefer more complex ones and so on
I love the interpretation that it's their passions/personalities! I think my character finds Noble's passion and sense of justice absolutely fascinating, and I believe Novakids in general would be drawn to those whose personalities "shine" so to speak, dunno if I'm making sense right now lol. They seem like the kind of people who would appreciate that sort of thing greatly

My kind-of inspiration was that I started thinking about the cannon ending of Starbound's storyline, the part where the player character gets exploded and brought back to life by the Cultivator if I remember correctly?? (Stars above it's been ages since I played through the story-)
So yeah, decided to draw ma boi after getting exploded, getting revived by mr. john space himself
I headcanon Novakids as having their own version of blood but it's shiny neon and the opposite colour to whatever their colour is, dunno if that makes sense but I like it that way (not a fan of the "gasbag people" description)

Waaaaay before it was done I was trying to slap some gradients on it to fix it cause it was in a pretty rough state, the results were pretty interesting so I thought I'd also include em
In one of the two "canon" finished versions - the very colourful one - I layered these two and the green one and erased parts to get the colours, it looks quite cool that way in my opinion ^^
IT'S MY GUY!! Look at him go... Azure my beloved space cowboy from Starbound.
I finally managed to make a decent reference for his design, and I'm very much in love with the shading, looks so cool in my opinion 😅
I worked on learning anatomy this year, at least a bit, and I can now draw humanoid looking things without using references! Now I just need to learn how to draw different poses.. heh ^^

While not perfect - I think it turned out pretty well, two people even recognized the character.

The helmet is made out of cardboard

1. - this is my tiny prototype helmet, just to see if it could happen, decided to just go for it
2. - A bigger cardboard version with some elements still made out of paper - so I could move them around easily until they were symmetrical.
Then I made what I could out of cardboard to add depth (most importantly to the side bits). The front stayed paper because the cardboard version didn't quite want to stay together.
3. - Cardboard and tape admittedly don't look the best, not to mention how easily they could come apart. As such, I covered it in a few layers of paper and wood glue until it was hard as a rock.
After that I used sand paper to smooth it out as much as I could, but I don't have any pictures of that 😅
4. - Acrilic paint. I tried to colour match screenshots of feldspar to the best of my abilities, and I think I did pretty well. Added some rust and dirt as a personal touch. For the visor window I used a sheet of thin plastic and anty-solar window foil, couldn't find a gold one but this is something I can easily change in the future.
The crack is just a couple triangle pieces glued to the front, I personally think it turned out looking pretty awesome <(:‿:)>
I am going to improve the entire cosplay in the future so it's more accurate to the source material. I especially want to add the oxygen tubes to the helmet.

All in all, I had a lot of fun and I'll definitely be doing this again.

But I'm also not sure if I have too many actual headcanons 😭
But here we go anyway hehehe
I really love him as a character to the point where I started shipping my player character with him, but it's more a case of my guy has a one-sided crush on him and Noble is too laser-focused on the peacekeeping work to even notice that
I feel like work is his whole life basically, imagine he'd be very charismatic when recruiting, leading the peacekeepers and doing anything job-related, and off-duty he'd suddenly be more reserved, mayhaps a but tired even, and he has a hidden thinker side that shows then, just the vibe I got (extravert at work, introvert outside, dunno why but that's my read of him as a character).
Also I feel like he'd probably have some guilt over not being able to save people when Earth got destroyed, maybe that's why he wants the peacekeeping thing to work out so much. And I'm so there for it, my player character kind of has the same issue, except he is not healthy or constructive about it.
I also kind of read his voice without any sort of country accent, I imagine he spent so much time outside of Novakid communities working as a peacekeeper before the events of the game that he started adapting to how others speak, again, dunno how to explain it, that's just how I read his dialog lines
(My attachment to this character is definitely not healthy, but I'm having so much fun I don't even care at this point)

I did a slightly different take on my main SB character (as in I couldn't get his clothes quite right, so I just gave him a brand new outfit - and I like it, even if it's not "canon")

(If you ask him "why is your name like that? Isn't azure a shade of blue? You're not blue" he will look at you funny and give a different reason each time. In reality, I just let the random name generator decide and I liked how this sounded)

I'm back to playing Starbound, it's been on my mind for weeks now this is how I get emotional release

(I'm in love with the colours, not so sure about the patterns though - based loosely on koi fish)
Been practicin' anatomy except I need to do that with things that don't exist, because I have anxiety and you can't go wrong when all the rules are made up anyway I say (I think I "cooked" - yes, I am aware of my mistakes just let me have this one XD pretty good considering I wasn't looking at any reference pictures, tis all from my head)
Although I might want to make them a bit fishier, this is too humanoid, just not sure how to do that at the moment lmao

Chocolate calico solid with a lot of white, I know the ginger spots look like they don't have any stripes but that's because it's a ticked agouti pattern. She also has some recessive cinnamon and dilute genes, so that could be fun when I eventually "simulate" a litter. I skipped over colour point genes because I forgot to make that generator... Sorry girlie pop. The eyes wouldn't normally be this vibrant green, but I don't actually have a good argument for this, just a style choice heh

So here's a sneak peak behind the white
The calico pattern is incorrect here, because without white the patches of colour would be way smaller, she would in fact be a tortoiseshell not a calico.
I always start with the agouti pattern (in other words the stripes) and finish by drawing white on top.

For the curious the alleles generated in this very simplified simulation were
b-b1 (chocolate with recessive cinnamon)
D-d (recessive dilute)
dm-dm (which was irrelevant, because the dilute modifier only shows up for cats that are, well, dilute. She could have been a lilac based caramel calico)
XO-Xo (female, calico)
Ws-Ws (a TON of white - over 50% but not completely white)
a-a (Solid cat, no striping except for where her fur is ginger, because the agouti pattern is always visible on ginger fur)
Like I said, I completely forgot to do colour point, which I usually do, even for the extremely simplified version of this exercise (I ignore the silver/smoke inhibitor genes, albinos, I'm still learning about wide band and rosette patterns, and for the agouti patterns I just choose randomly from 8 patterns, I deal with those genes only when I decide to randomly generate the cats offspring)
