According to my notes, this is the 330th time we've played the word game! It started on discord + the bird site in 2020 & later moved to bluesky + here. It was just a way to keep track of the days in 2020, since our community was pretty disoriented, but I think it's pretty cool we've kept it up. So ty.
the draw of arranged marriage AUs to me is really the way the dubcon of it all binds them together. neither of them have a choice in being here, something else is foisting this upon them whether thatâs their parents or the political situation around them or expectation or something else, but the point is that they donât get that one choice. so they have to make a choice somewhere else, that now that theyâre here, theyâre going to make it work. theyâre each otherâs only allies, in this cage built around them. they may have been coerced into swearing to stand by each other through anything, but they did swear.
itâs not love at first, or second, or third sight. itâs not love in the wedding bed the first time, whether they grit their teeth through it or decide together to forgo that binding step and try to get around it as long as they can. itâs about sharing a bed with a stranger while you learn their nightmares and how they hog the covers. itâs about sharing a name before you even know each otherâs hobbies. the appearances you have to keep up, and the connection you find in both being exhausted by them, laughing together because isnât it ridiculous how you not only have to be married but you have to act like itâs perfect and lovely for everyone else watching. itâs love that creeps up quiet and slow, between shared secrets that make your wedding bands mean something for the first time, and trying to protect each other from the trap youâre both in. and itâs about having the mortifying thought of âoh my god, i have a crush on my wife.â

i agree so much about making your blorbos pathetic but i do fear that many take this to mean 'make them more traditionally feminine/submissive' which genuinely hurts my soul. make your blorbos pathetic in interesting character-oriented ways. understand their neuroses and turn the dials up to eleven. juxtapose the parts of life they handle extremely well with the parts of their lives that make them eat shit. make them angry. make them cold. make them pave their own way to hell while building walls preventing them from seeing any other way. please i'm begging you no more pathetic as an euphemism for bottoming im gonna mclose it.

The sun glinted, casting shadows through the gap in the curtains. They hadnât been opened fully as the two men huddled in the alcove and watched the light dip below the horizon. Sam was somewhere in the shack, probably cooling off with a smoothie and a book to hand.
Castielâs vessel meant that he was cold regardless, unaffected by the higher UV levels but affected by the endless complaints. Dean hadnât stopped, holding cold beers to his forehead, putting damp hand towels in the freezer and stripping down to near nothingness.Â
"I swear Iâve gotten worse with age, no clue how I wore all the flannel during this time of year." Dean huffed, one of the frozen cloths sat around his neck.Â
"You got used to it." Cas answered, giving Dean the other hand fan there was discarded by the cushions.
"Yeah, well, guess Iâm getting unused to it."Â
"Youâll cool down, Dean."Â
"No, itâs the end of the world as we know it." He dramatised, regretting the expression when it made him think back to the actual apocalypse. "Okay, poor choice of words but you get my point."Â
Castiel nodded, scooting towards Dean to try and emit some of his coolness. "My inhabitants of a vessel means that Iâm cold all the time. This may help." He flattened his palm in between Deanâs shoulder blades to emphasise this.Â
"Seriously though, how is Sam not melting?"Â
"He has a cold beverage which is lowering his core temperature. And I donât think the heat bothers him as much anyway."Â
Dean grumbled in response, crossing his arms over his chest and resting on Cas. The angelâs hand had since left his back, wrapped around Dean in a side hug.Â
"Speaking of cold drinks, Iâm gonna get more beer." He cleared his throat, both shying away and leaning towards Castielâs touch, unsure of what exactly to do with himself.Â
Once Dean returned with drinks and passed one to Castiel while putting his to his forehead and then popping it open, the two men sat in a comfortable yet buzzed silence. They eventually adjusted positions in the bay window, laid on each other with the few pillows abandoned on the hardwood floor.
"Tell me if youâre still too warm, Dean. There should be another towel or two left in the freezer."Â
"Mhm, Iâm okay for now. Your skin is really cold." He had his ear on Casâ chest, taking note of how slow the angelâs heartbeat was.
"I donât require a heartbeat, Dean. The rhythm is simply to maintain some normality so as to not unsettle you."Â
"Didnât say you could read my mind, angel. But thanks, I guess."Â
"My bad, it is simply because I am focused on you so my telepathy takes effect unintentionally."Â
"Alright, man. Whatever you say." Dean snorted softly into Castielâs sternum. "Might wanna speed it up though."Â
"Alright." Cas agreed, leaving to retrieve the frozen towels and sliding underneath the man again afterwards.Â
Flies circulated the house, bumping into the windows and buzzing around the curtains; Samâs humming from afar matching the sound. Castiel shooed them away whenever they got in front of the view where the sun had already lowered the majority of the way. They werenât disturbed and Deanâs complaints had died down into the rare murmur. The sky was perfect, as was their situation.Â

In the hot seat this month is @kazsrm67! Kaz got into SPN about 6 years ago and has made some new friends and grown a ton personally because of it. She probably writes âfix-it ficsâ the most; anyone whoâs followed for a while can tell that she wasnât a huge fan of the finale. She loves a good slow-burn fic that may or may not end up with a steamy moment or two. A good song fic or dad Dean fic is always something she likes to write. She's been a Manta Ray here at the Pond for a while, and loves encouraging readers to comment through her comment bingo event each month!

Q: How did you get into SPN?
A: It's quite funny actually. One day about 6 years ago, I was at my little sisterâs, and she told me I should watch Supernatural. I asked if she meant the show Jared was on after Gilmore Girls, and she said yes. I laughed her off at first because I said it would give me nightmares. She told me it wasn't that bad and I should watch it. A few days later, when I was leaving her house, she said, "Go watch Supernatural. You are the Dean to my Sam." I asked what that meant, and she only told me, "Go watch it, you'll understand." What she didn't expect was that I would go home, start watching it two weeks later, and get so enthralled that I watched every episode from the pilot to season 15 ep 17. I watched 15 years of TV in 2.5 months. I actually had to slow down because Iâd caught up to the new episodes, but didnât have cable, so I couldnât watch it live. Also, she has never finished season 15 to this day.
Q: What inspired you to become a writer?
A: Ooh, well, I actually wrote in middle/highschool and into my 20s (I had no clue about the word fanfic, as we didn't have internet then. I started with writing Backstreet Boys stories. Then I got into NCIS for a bit, but I quit writing because I was super busy (College classes while working full-time) and got made fun of. I immediately began writing again in March of 2021 after finally watching the finale.
Q: What sort of stuff do you write typically?
A: I think the thing I write the most is just fix-it fics. I yearn for Dean to have a happy ending.
Q: What are you doing when you're not writing?
A: I am a supervisor for a non-profit that provides parenting education and support programs for families from prenatal to the child's 5th birthday. Part of that job includes writing for grants. I have a pre-teen daughter, so I do mom stuff and play/watch her play Minecraft. I do some abstract painting as well, although I haven't actually painted in almost years now.
Q: Are you currently in any other fandoms, and do you write for them as well?
A: I say I'm in the Stargate fandom, but mostly that means I occasionally watch my DVD set. (I do have the entire series and the movies.) I love MCU pre-Endgame, but I don't really read or write for either of those anymore. Oh, but I do have a Buffy/ SPN thing in mind, so I might write for Buffy. I have told myself I must finish my rewrite first, though.
Q: Besides work, do you do any other writing?
A: A few years ago, I started a book, but I kinda got tired of it and walked away. I honestly don't know if that will ever see the light of day.
Q: What are your favorite types of fanfic to read? Do you have a favorite writer or writers?
A: I bounce around so much with fics. I read all kinds of stuff... @impala-dreamer is one of my top faves. I'm currently reading a fic called Glitch by @waynes-multiverse.
Q: Do you wanna talk a little more in depth about the process of writing your rewrite? I'm always curious about it
A: Ooh, that one started in a funny way.... It started because I saw a gif of Dean's hand shooting out of the ground in 4X1, and I thought what it would be like if you saw that happen. I decided the reader would follow him because she needed to know more about this man who crawled from the ground. I decided she was drawn to follow him because they were soulmates.
As far as the process of actually writing it, I just started re-watching the show from season 4 on. I also use scripts off the spnwiki and try to decide where I can fit the reader in. Are there lines that I'd like the reader to say ... and smatter in things that might fill in the gaps
Q: What's your favorite season?
A: Oh, that's a hard question! I have fav episodes from many, if not all, seasons. But I think I have to go with season 1. The boys were so young and somewhat clueless about what was actually there. I love the early seasons' monster-of-the-week themes too.
Q: Do you agree w your sister? Are you her Dean to her Sam?
A: Yeah, it fit. This might sound nuts, but it literally made me see parts of our life differently. It also made me realize that she's an adult and can handle shit on her own. I still worry when her immune disorders put her in the hospital, but I've learned not to have such panic attacks
Q: Is there any kind of fic you want to write but you're afraid to?
A: I have a couple that have been bobbling around in my head. One is a fic where Dean is a vigilante who takes out people who hurt kids. I think my ofc will be the agent or officer trying to catch him. Part of what holds me back is that it's going to be another big commitment, and I'm not finished with the last big commitment.
Q: Do you make room in your life for writing, or do you make room in your writing for life?
A: um ⊠yes⊠some months I literally schedule work around being able to write (Because I get to create my own schedule as long as I make over 30 hours a week) I sometimes have these days where I have to get an idea out of my head and nothing else matters
Q: Is there a kind of fic you like to read but feel like you could never write? Or a kind you like to write but don't care to read?
A: @impala-dreamer writes great horror fics... I don't. I love to read her stuff but could never write those types of fics.
Q: Whoâs your favorite character that you donât write?
A: Ooh, um, I write Bobby into a lot of my fics, but I've never done one that's Bobby-centric. Or Jody maybe
Q: What's the best writing advice you've ever been given?
A: Two things that have helped me when stuck or feeling frustrated. 1 is to take a break from writing and do something else that's creative - go doodle, paint, make a moodboard, or even just coloring are all helpful for me. The other is to change fonts when typing.
Q: Whatâs one side character or one episode character that you would have wanted to have seen more of?
A: Gwen Campbell would be a good one. Another is that kid Jesse. ⊠What was his life like after he "moved" away?
Q: Do you have an alpha reader?
A: Yes. I read for her, and she reads for me. We tend to like much of the same types of fics, so it works. But I do occasionally look for extra help if it's a big fic, or like when I did the Storytellers contest last year.
Q: Do you delete and forget, or move to a maybe I will use this someday document?
A: I have like 95 WIPs in my Ellipsus, and only like 20 have seen the light of day so far. Sometimes I just get out of the fic and never touch it again, but sometimes I have written myself into a corner, and I just walk away thinking I'll come back later (some of those are like 4 years old now, though). I have been using the description feature on Ellipsus more because then I don't forget what the fic is supposed to be about.
Q: Whatâs your fav fic you have posted?
A: I have a few I love, but right now I'd have to say The Ghost. It was different from anything I ever wrote.
Q: Do you have any weird writing habits?
A: Yes! I do not plan - no outlines for me. I get an idea, hopefully remember to write it down, and then I just write and see what happens. The characters carry me away often!

I tried resetting my password, but it didn't work. Help?
The most likely reasons the password reset didn't work are:
You are entering the wrong email address for your AO3 account. Refer to the above instructions on how to check what your account's email address is.
Your email provider is blocking emails from AO3 or sending them to spam/social folders. Search for an email titled â[AO3] Reset your passwordâ.
Your email account doesn't have enough storage and can't receive new emails. You'll need to delete old emails, photos, or videos to empty your storage before requesting a password reset.
You requested multiple password resets in a short time period, resulting in either a âRetry laterâ page or the link in the first password reset email becoming invalid. Please wait at least one hour before trying again, only submit the form once, and make sure you are using the link in the most recent password reset email.
The new password you chose was insecure, so you can't use it to log back in. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I don't know my password/my password is insecure, and I don't know or have access to my account's email address.
You will need to submit a Support ticket containing the following information:
your username
your accountâs current email address (if you know it)
an email address that you can access and would like to update your account's email to (enter this email into the Email field so we can contact you)
Support will begin the account recovery process with you, which will ask you for further proof of account ownership. Please be patient, as there are many AO3 users who are also submitting account recovery tickets right now.
We have temporarily lifted the block preventing users from logging in to AO3 with an insecure password. If you have been receiving this message recently, please immediately do the following:
Log in to your account using your compromised password.
Verify that the email on your account is one that you have access to and that it is up to date.
âa. To do this, go to your Preferences page and select "Change Email" at the top of the page. Your email address will be listed on that page, next to "Current email".

I don't know my current password/my password is insecure, but I know and have access to my account's email address.
In a private/incognito browser, go to the Reset Password page: https://archiveofourown.org/users/password/new (also available by clicking the âForgot Password?â link on the login form)
Enter the email address associated with your AO3 account
Check your email for the password reset email
Click the âuse this link to choose a new passwordâ link in the email
Enter a new, secure password
You will be automatically logged in on this device, and automatically logged out on all other devices.
If you continue to receive the message that your password is insecure, then the new password you chose was also insecure. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I tried resetting my password, but it didn't work. Help?
The most likely reasons the password reset didn't work are:
You are entering the wrong email address for your AO3 account. Refer to the above instructions on how to check what your account's email address is.
Your email provider is blocking emails from AO3 or sending them to spam/social folders. Search for an email titled â[AO3] Reset your passwordâ.
Your email account doesn't have enough storage and can't receive new emails. You'll need to delete old emails, photos, or videos to empty your storage before requesting a password reset.
You requested multiple password resets in a short time period, resulting in either a âRetry laterâ page or the link in the first password reset email becoming invalid. Please wait at least one hour before trying again, only submit the form once, and make sure you are using the link in the most recent password reset email.
The new password you chose was insecure, so you can't use it to log back in. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I don't know my password/my password is insecure, and I don't know or have access to my account's email address.
You will need to submit a Support ticket containing the following information:
your username
your accountâs current email address (if you know it)
an email address that you can access and would like to update your account's email to (enter this email into the Email field so we can contact you)
Support will begin the account recovery process with you, which will ask you for further proof of account ownership. Please be patient, as there are many AO3 users who are also submitting account recovery tickets right now.
We have temporarily lifted the block preventing users from logging in to AO3 with an insecure password. If you have been receiving this message recently, please immediately do the following:
Log in to your account using your compromised password.
Verify that the email on your account is one that you have access to and that it is up to date.
âa. To do this, go to your Preferences page and select "Change Email" at the top of the page. Your email address will be listed on that page, next to "Current email".
âb. If you don't have access to this email account, update your email before you change your password. You don't need access to your old email address to change it to a new one, as long as you also know your current password.
âc. If you do have access to this email account, copy-paste the email address so that you can correctly enter it into the password reset form. If you do not enter your email address exactly as it is listed here, you will not receive the password reset email.
Change your password to a unique, strong password by following the steps in our Archive FAQ: How do I change my password?
âa. We strongly recommend that you use a password generator to select a new password. Most browsers and devices have a built-in password generator, or you can use this one: 1Password's Password Generator.
âb. Use a password manager to set and remember your passwords for you. If you don't want to install third-party software, you can use the password manager provided by your browser or device.
If you are still unable to access your account, you will need to work with Support to complete the account recovery process described in the previous post. Please provide them with your username and the name of the email account you have lost access to. You must wait at least a week so that Support can check that the original email address is truly inactive, and provide multiple forms of evidence that the account is truly yours. The account recovery process will not proceed if you are unable to provide sufficient proof that you are the owner of the account.
