But I don’t see enough people talking about the panels after it, where Samus says this:

so my gf has been living with us for a few months now after her parents found out she was trans, and that would be bad enough if my father wasn't getting progressively more abusive (broke my nose on my birthday, banned my mom's family from visiting).

now we have a hard limit to move out. we need money to rent another house by SEPTEMBER 15TH, or we'll have to live on the streets again.

we are doing all we can, but rent in São Paulo is expensive and we are going to need at least 3000 reais (600 dollars) to move by September, and that's not even counting medical expenses and hrt. we REALLY need help, now more than ever.

i fucking hate to do this, but we are desperate and on a really tight deadline right now. any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

For example, I play with coordinates on because I get lost fairly easily. Each number moved up or down on these coordinates is one block. One block is one meter cubed.

So Minecraft is one of the few games where you can see exactly how fast you’re walking and exactly how big your personal sphere of influence on the game world is.

The player walks at about 4.3 meters per second for example. Which is really fast actually. Most humans walk around like maybe 1.2-1.6 meters per second?

At the same time though in one full 20 minute day night cycle Steve Minecraft can walk 5.1 km. An athletic person trained to walk long distances could maybe walk around 30 km in a day.

So is Minecraft in fast forward or in slow motion? Both, really.

5000 blocks feels like a long way. You will likely come across multiple biomes in that time. An old growth oak forest, a desert, a mountain range, a swamp, and plains all being within 5 km of each other is fairly unusual in the real world.

Obviously it’s not meant to be representative of the real world. But by bringing meters or miles or any other real world measurement into a video game you can feel reality creeping in a little bit. I can walk 5 km no problem irl, as long as it’s not dangerously hot out. In the game though, it feels like an eternity away. A full day’s journey.
