KIRSH
-It would be a lie to say that any corporation, especially Prodigy, wouldn't dare overwork their employees to a point of utter exhaustion and (sometimes) insanity multiple times within a year.
-After numerous deadlines for last minute projects generated by Boy Kavalier, you and your team had reached the insane tipping point months ago, and yet - you're all powering through still. Why?
-Well, for once, Prodigy is actually throwing an employee appreciation party in your sector. Thanks to you sacrificing sleep, the East wing of the facility had finally made (the impossible) quota of the first quarter. Mr.Kavalier was so pleased that he decided you get to leave three hours earlier from your shift to join the company party. So generous.
-Normally you weren't one to party, or even want to partake in company socializing like this, but after such harsh bonding with your coworkers and surviving the first quarter, why not enjoy it right?
-Bottomless drinks along with overworked, nervous, antisocial employees are not such a great combo. Which is why most of the drunks are manageable, but you become a bit too wasted in the spirit of "letting loose".
-You start to enjoy the party after a few drinks - maybe a little too much.
-Becoming a loud mouth, leaning onto your coworkers and continuously slurring your words. A small group of technicians gathered around you, egging you on to continue your behavior for their entertainment.
-You were about to say some colorful words about Kavalier until Kirsh, the company's most revered android and your part-time supervisor grabs you by the arm, securing you in a firm and slightly sobering manner.
"I think that's enough for tonight."
-It was like having a dagger of ice pierce you. You weren't expecting him to be here, let alone scolding you for being a little tipsy.
-You mouth was agape, desperately trying to find the appropriate corporate response to let you go rather than cussing him out.
"Kir-"
"Enough. Let's go."
-Everyone got to witness the mortifying scene of Kirsh calmy but forcibly escorting you back to your room with your mumbles of disagreement.
-He does this for two reasons. One being that he did not appreciate how many of your male colleagues were approaching you when you were this plastered. He would intervene if they had the gall to follow through, but who was to say if you would drunkenly "consent" to their advances without knowing any better?
-Second reason was that Kirsh required your attendance for a meeting tomorrow morning, and having you any more plastered would result in him doing double the work and presentation.
-In his reasoning of letting you even attend in the first place, he considers you hard-working and deserving to at least enjoy your efforts once in a while.
-But now he somewhat regrets this kind gesture as you loop him through the living apartment halls. None of the apartments are marked by number, so to a very incapacitated mind like yours right now, it was insanely difficult to decipher or even accurately remember where you resided.
-After the fifth confident "I think this is it!" from you, he pauses in step; settling a practiced inhale at his thinning patience, then sharply turns to hold his hand out to you.
-Your eyes slightly blur in switching your gaze from his hand to him multiple times, not understanding what he's doing. Maybe he wants a high five?
"Give me your keycard."
"Bu-Why? It doesn't have a room number on it."
-He just regards you with a piercing silent stare until you nimbly search your bag and hand it to him. Although you may not remember or even mean to do it, but the lingering brush of your hand on his fingers is noticed and stored away for review later.
"Thank you. Now, let's finally bring this journey to an end."
-His shirt sleeve is lifted just barely above the elbow, revealing a mini outlet of buttons, USB-ports and plug-ins alike. Your keycard is promptly inserted halfway into a thin slot on his arm, only taking in the keycard chip.
-It takes everything in you to not audibly gasp at the sight, feeling a bit special that he's letting you see this much of him. The more “Android” side. Unfortunately your gaze lingers a bit too long for his liking, as if he were a Victorian woman showing her ankle for the first time.
"Don't be rude. It's just a utility control pad."
-Normally you would be embarrassed that he caught you staring, but the alcohol running through your veins is giving enough newfound confidence and courage to save face and change the subject effectively.
"Sorry - I just honestly didn't expect you to have such muscular arms.."
-Now that makes him a bit stumped for any retaliation. What does he say to that? It would be unlike him to accept the compliment, but he's also too proud to deny it - ultimately settling for no answer.
-There's a beeping sound that interrupts his thought process, the internal mapping grid behind his eye lenses shines two dots blinking. One showed where you both were, and the other is your apartment location.
-He winces at the realization that it was around that one corner, the one where you "swore" it couldn't be down, several halls ago.
-Once he hands you back your keycard, he begins the walk again, this time as the leader.
"Let's go."
-And you gleefully follow behind for a short while, but only until your stumbling steps make you bump into his back, causing you to latch onto Kirsh's arm for balance.
-The artificial muscle flexes perfectly to hold you up and let you grip onto it. Supremely solid to that of a machine but in the shape of a humans arm, a strange thing to consider or think about while intoxicated really.
-After letting out a few chuckles in your fall, Kirsh is frozen for half a second. Passing it off as maintaining stillness for you to let go, but you don't, and he doesn't know what to do.
-If you were literally anyone else he would take his arm back appropriately. But since it's you...there's a delay in action until you speak.
"C'mon, lead the way!"
-Your lean into his bicep more, further making him tense up at the contact, but he remains upright and seemingly unaffected by your actions for the remainder of the escort.
-Finally arriving at your doorstep, he makes sure you open and make it inside without struggle before announcing his leave.
-You're a bit tired from the excessive partying and the trek back home, but ultimately grateful Kirsh had guided you back. Heavens knows where you could have ended up if you ventured alone.
-Kirsh feels almost...relieved to return back to his main function. The strange feeling in his throat and chest had vanished the moment you unlatched from his arm. An aberration definitely worth looking into on the recalibration report for his next charging session.
-Even so, he has manners enough to wish you a good night once you're past the threshold.
"Have a good night, I'll see-"
-Your arms come to wrap around him suddenly, interrupting his farewell and cutting him off from speaking at the extreme intimate touch.
-The way your hands envelop around him, then casually reaching to give him a pat on his back as if he was some close friend. It stuns him into silence.
-There is no script or infographic programmed into Kirsh for things like this, so he just awkwardly stands there as you hold him.
"Thanks for the fancy escort back Kirsh, truly appreciate it!"
-Your voice voice seems to snap him out of whatever glitch your had him in. His hands suddenly reach up to grasp your arms to release and delicately put a space between you both before resuming his statement.
"-I'll see you tomorrow. We have an early meeting to accommodate your schedule, remember?"
-That seems to kill the mood instantly as your arms drop, groaning as you think about having to punch in for your next shift in a couple hours.
"Gee thanks, you ruined my buzz. Yeah-Yeah I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night, ughh..."
-Seems your mind was already sobering up as the pending headache finally sets in. Your hand rests upon your head, letting out a yawn as you close the door for the night.
-And from there, Kirsh was finally relieved of the one duty he assigned himself that night and walks back to the main labs. As he awaits the elevators, there is a brief moment where his hand slithers up to the spot where your head had rested only minutes ago. But it resumed position at his side when the doors open.
-The most vivid memory you have of the night is chatting with your coworkers, dancing to records and then skipping to Kirsh leaving you at your apartment doorstep, everything else was lost in the haze. For Kirsh though, all of it was logged, kept in the archives for unknown use and occasional review.
BISHOP
-After an eventful rescue mission, the Suleco ship was vibrating with relief at the success of going back home.
-Soldiers, scientists, and regular staff were in the main cafeteria area, sharing bottes of wine or taking little shots of the stored whiskey, excited that everyone is making to journey back.
-Normally you weren't one to drink amongst peers so heavily, usually within your own private company or alongside a close friend, but the occasion seemed appropriate - you had survived the horrors of a space expedition, and somehow returning home in one piece.
-After almost falling to your death a few times, it was more than enough reason to participate in the celebration like everyone else.
-But unlike everyone's survival story, you were mostly saved by Bishop in every instance of your life being threatened. It was as if he knew where you were all the time, arriving at the perfect instance to swoop you up or off your feet. You're truly grateful for your team's synthetic, not knowing how you could even repay him if he has no measure for these kinds of things.
-Regardless, the cafeteria vibrates with relief and celebration of life and the return to Earth. All of your comrades thankful for no casualties or loss while on this rotation.
-And of course, the night wouldn't be complete unless you fell once more into your favorite android’s arms.
-Whilst making your stumbling way back to your private quarters, you unexpectedly cross paths with Bishop, doing his rounds of making sure the ship’s condition is stable.
-The drunken stupor made you feel like this was fate yet again bringing you two together, giving you another chance to be with him.
-But given how you're leaning against the wall for support, even while drunk you felt this was not the best time to engage with Bishop. Especially while he's working no less. So you giggle to yourself at the silly thoughts and continue forward.
"Scuse' me, Bishop."
"Oh, of course."
-Like the gentleman he is programmed to be, he leans against the wall and makes room for you to pass.
-The cramped corridor left little space for you to smoothly pass by, leaving you to trip over your own two feet trying to avoid him. His quick catch lands you in-between his thighs, braced against his chest as he steadies you both against one side of the tiny hallway.
"Are you alright?"
-His voice is concerned since you seemed to have gone jelly in his hold. But a moment later, you look up and steady yourself to lean off him, just enough to stare up close at him. You couldn't believe this was actually happening, but your drunk mind wasn't complaining, it was screaming with joy.
“Bishop how come they made you so pretty?? You really have big eyes, you know that?”
-It takes him a moment to process your words, because your dangerous hands were splayed out over his lean chest when he caught you - your fingertips moving with a mind of their own, tracing over the seams and his name tag.
"...I guess Weyland Yutani wanted synthetic employees to blend in with employees while also - uhm - having a few stand-out features..I appreciate your compliment."
-His hands carefully grasp yours, removing them from his chest. The embrace alone made a few errors and malfunctions within his programming. Never being so intimately touched like this before made him almost feel somewhat shy, and by the evil cat-like grin on your face - you were eating up every second of it.
"Mmm, you're welcome ~ Betcha' get that a lot, huh??"
"That I have blue eyes?"
"That you're so pretty!"
"...I think you should retire for the night. You seem to be a bit - brash."
DAVID 8
“David I asshure' you, I’m perfectly fine and ob' scene mind.”
“It's 'of sound mind', L/N. And while I normally account your assurances to the highest degree, I'm afraid I don't have confidence in them now. You're a bit...drunk, plainly speaking."
-There was no arguing there. You almost managed to outdrink Charlie if Elizabeth and David hadn't shown up. Party poopers..
-Your body felt warm under his concerned gaze. David was definitely easy on the eyes, but while drunk? He was as pretty as a cold glass of water.
-Wincing from the fantasy, you try to wave off your thoughts by attempting to speak again, but it comes out a bit slurred and sarcastic.
"Yeah, yeah - whateverr, I'll go back to my room like the good girl I a-"
-The ships artificial gravity did its wonderous job, weighing you down as you began to rise from the table - easily underestimating it as you stand from sitting for the entirety of this drinking session.
-Once you made impact with the floor, the giggles and uncontrollable laughter could not be contained. Yes your elbow and hip sting, but that seems to spur you on. It was the kind of laugh that sprung from how much you stupidly hurt yourself.
-You'll worry about the soreness later, but you wish there was a more hyped audience besides David that could've witnessed it, at least enough to laugh with you.
"Oh shit - Hahahaha! David, 'help I've fallen and I can't get up' - Pffhahaha!!"
-He just tilts his head, completely confused at your statement. Were you actually asking for his help or was this one of those inside human jokes?
-It doesn't matter since it looks like you actually need help up - after the fourth try in attempting to stand, you kept falling back down.
-As you grab the table as leverage once more, David's outstretched hand enters your line of sight. Your playful eyes trace from his palm resting at the back of one of the chairs, trailing up his wrist and forearm, finally reaching his eyes - looking directly up at him from your seat and uttering a few more exhausted giggles.
"Fifth times' the charm right??"
-His system had a brief non-descript alert at the held eye contact. It was the longest you've ever held and initiated with him.
-He contemplates his next move, normally reserving this action if a crew member is greatly injured or unconscious...but you're just intoxicated. Would it be appropriate?
-But your expression with the flush on your cheeks tempt him, overriding certain codes for action check authorizations.
"Here. Allow me."
-His approach is swift, bending down to your level in a squat. You thought he was going to hoist you up as anyone would have, but air hitches in your throat as he snakes an arm around your back and under your legs, lifting up effortlessly as if you weighed nothing. The sound that escaped you left much to be desired for sounding startled.
-The sudden handling has embarrassment and excitement bubble up in your chest. A faint glow of red spreads across your cheeks, amplified by the alcoholic flush from earlier.
-You weren't expecting him to do the most extra move to help you up by completely getting you off the ground. All of that liquid courage is gone as your arms are bent awkwardly, unsure of where they should be placed.
-But then he began to walk, forcing your left arm to grab hold behind his back, while the other was cradled at your front. Suddenly nothing was funny anymore.
-Unbeknownst to David, not ten minutes before him and Elizabeth entered earlier, Charlie was giving you hell for having such an obvious thing for David. You sounded like such a pure romantic as you told him of your encounters and brief moments with the android. And look at you now, in the arms of your metal beloved.
-Being so close to him like this made you freeze. It was like getting too much attention from your crush and you don't know what to do or say. Additionally, the fun buzz was quickly dying down, making you more aware of the arms holding you with every hall and entryway David passed through.
"Uh - David? I-I think you can put me down now...I can walk, I just had trouble standing..."
-Looking to his side profile, you see a harmless grin appear with the small vibrations of a chuckle.
"Somehow I doubt that. Based on your wonderful display earlier, I thought it was best to escort you back like this. Plus, you will need all the rest you can get. We have a busy day tomorrow, remember?"
-He finds the scrunch of your face endearing, the cringe of realization at the early call of tomorrow. Tasting the hangover already makes you groan, leaning into the crook of David's neck. Despite your overindulgence and clear regret , David did not play about attendance.
