And I like that it does say that. People who are desperate to be loved are easily taken advantage of. that love is a tool that can be honed both for and against you. even once you escape you can be brought right back in against your will because those patterns of exploitation are planted in your head and can be used by others in the future. that anxiety is a weakness not because it makes you a coward but because it leaves you open to being assuaged with false promises of power and love and safety and belonging. Mr L is such a fascinating character bc like he represents so much of that. Luigi is afraid and that makes him the most important figure in the prophecy. the others are fearless, strong, heroes who know how to stand on their own. And Luigi wants to feel important even though his fear keeps him from standing on his own

AND it also says those that refuse to let love move them are the ones that don't have your best interests at heart. but that their power can feel overwhelming even when you have everyone by their side and that they'll leave behind destruction even when they're gone not because they care about anythingbut because the world is just a means to an end. people who do not love this world and those in it cannot ever seek to truly fix it because their "fixing" IS so dependent on draining life dry for their own gain...

also I think dimentio is envious. I think he's so jealous. Of the love others have. he is moved by love but not touched by it so he uses everyone around him to gain control and adoration to create this facsimile of love that he will never be able to feel. because he doesn't care about anyone but himelf and love is inherently reciprocal and requires vulnerability and truthfulness that he doesn't have. the mask, the Jester's appearance, his green dimension. making himself more powerful... Also making the player more powerful. like that's what love does to people. but dimentio only exploits that for the whole game. he uses others to make himself stronger, and even when he helps make others stronger, it's always a roundabout way of benefitting himself. He's surprised that love is basically unlimited resource. He can't wrap his head around that
