I’m Sooooo keen for Easter break that starts Friday! I’m going home woot hoot!

Hey lovely! Woo hoo a new year is exciting! 

1. My first huge tip would be to make a little timetable for yourself, write down any extracurricular activities you have (dance, sports, instrument lessons, etc.) and then write down in the blocks of time that you’re going to work on each subject. So for example, you finish school at 3:30 and it takes you an hour to get home, maybe schedule in a break until 5 and then work for an hour or two until 6/7/dinner. Then write in another block of time for another subject, etc. 

I like to do up a timetable like this for each week because my different commitments and lecture times change from week to week but if yours is pretty much the same every week then just do up one that you’ll still to every week.

2. Get your desk/study space organised and clean - make sure you have everything you need with you when you’re studying (textbook, notebook, pens, rules, staplers, colour pencils, literally everything) that way you don’t have to keep getting up and getting things.

3. Work out how long you can concentrate before you need a break. I like to do an hour/an hour and a half and then a little break, check my phone, watch some netflix for a little bit but some people can keep going for 3 hours at a time. Find out what works best for you and don’t keep pushing yourself unless you’re really behind on notes and study.

In terms of reviewing and revising, obviously it depends what subjects you’re taking and how well structured your teacher/lecturer’s notes are as to how to revise. 

I write out my own notes when I get home and then go through sample questions (I’m lucky this year with lecturers who give me example questions at the end of every class). If you don’t have a bunch of questions to answer, maybe make some up and test yourself under exam conditions.

I like to read through any set textbook readings before I write out my class notes because I find this helps me consolidate the information better, but that’s my personal preference.

I’m still learning how to effectively revise/write notes/do uni but this is what’s working for me so far!

[26.02.16] big BIG day today!

It’s not even 10am and I’ve already finished making my laundry bag to take to college (its sooooo cute! I love it), gone for my walk with the pup, cooked some eggs, done the dishes, written my list for the day and started packing.

Also, you are now looking at the new merchandise convenor for our speech path student association and I’m so nervous but excited and I need to learn photoshop asap!

I had a very important meeting today to be a part of the speech path student association at uni this year! Naturally, I really hope I get it.

Don’t apologise! I think the notebook could be suitable for a bullet journal (you might want to get it in A5 size so it’s a bit bigger).

What do you mean by they’re throwing you off?

Bullet journals are great for you to customise to suit your own needs/space requirements, etc. however, you do need some level of creativity imo. They could be a good solution if a planner doesn’t have what you need.

I personally have a FiloFax (personal size), which I write down  appointments, classes + times, meetings, due pieces of assessment, etc. I like my planner becauseI can slot in loose pieces of paper, prescription scripts and other documents (copy of my resume) and can keep it them with the corresponding week to stay super organised. This system works well for me, though it is a bit heavy some days.

I also have the notebook we’ve been talking about to keep track of daily to-do items that won’t fit in my planner or will distract me from the important tasks/meetings/etc in my planner. I write virtually everything I have to do in this to-do list (make bed, walk dog, assignment due, class @ 8:30, buy milk, paint nails, etc.)

I haven’t tried bullet journaling but I don’t think it will suit me because I’ll get too hung up on the layout (I’d be likely to rip out pages and pages because I don’t think they belong together). Plus I have zero creativity and don’t really like using other people’s ideas/layouts too much if I can avoid it. 

My system is simple but it works for me.
