I can't Feel

“AAAH!”

“ITAMI!!! WHAT THE HELL!!! WHY’D YOU DO THAT!!!”

Claude skittered over to Itami, freaking out, trying to gauge whether he was alright. 

“Didn’t that hurt!? You’re bleeding!! Are you okay!? I’m… I’m gonna get Kimi to come take you home, because obviously something isn’t right!! You just ran into a wall!”

“HAHA!! No It did not Hurt”

Itami replies, her voice a mix of cheery but still deadpan in a way. He does wipe the blood from his face but seems rather...ok.

I suffer from a phsyical condition in which I cannot feel anything

“Huh? Oh, um, well…”

Arata wasn’t entirely sure at first how to respond to that question. How to sound confident? It felt like something that shouldn’t need to be explained, one of those instinctive emotions you just sort of know what it is.

“Well, you had the small of a confident person but, not really the right tone of voice. No offense but, it kinda sounded like you were talking in your sleep..”

“Usually people sound more, y’know, a bit louder, not really commanding but, in control of what’s going on around you. Something like..”

“I’m Arata Souma, and I’m have a great time!”, he said with as much confidence he could muster, maybe a touch too loud though in trying to prove his point.

As Arata was speaking, Itami was actually listening to him very very careful, making a good mental note of everything the smaller teenager was telling him. He liked when people were helpful to him in this way and would be sure to show how he felt...er felt like he felt? Listen it’s hard to explain so...ANYWAYS.

“Oh...Oh I see I see”

“So like this. I am Itami Kanjou and I’m having Great Time”

Arata was just on his way out from the game room and heading somewhere else, when he happens to pass by one of the other guests and stopped dead in his tracks. He stared at him for half a second, the timing of all of this on top of his slightly robotic voice made Arata almost confuse him for one of those motion activated Halloween decorations.

“Um.. are you sure about that? You didn’t really sound all that confident about it.”

Itami twisted his body to look down at Arata and twisted his face into a frown.

Huh? How do I sound...Confident?

Yeezy was very much reluctant to stab Itami with a dart despite his requests. and even if it wouldn’t ‘do anything’ to him, Yeezy still wasn’t up for driving a small metal projectile into another person’s skin. ‘i have been stabbed with a lot’ really raises a lot of questions from Yeezy, like, yikes. not to mention shady. Yeezy knew circuses were pretty bad but not THIS bad. unbelievable, He can only imagine what kind of abuse this guy’s been through. Look at him! he’s all scarred and he’s even got bandages on from what Yeezy can only assume are fresh wounds. good god, Yeezy has trouble processing this. “I said what I said and I ain’t gonna be stabbing people at this party, okay?” He retorted, still protesting against the idea. Yeezy was caught off guard once Itami began jabbing him in the arm. What, is he trying to pick a fight now? is this guy some sort of masochist? Unbelievable, the first person he meets at the party and it’s this kinda guy. “What the hell? are you trying to pick a fight with me now? that deadass wasn’t a poke.”

Itami halted in place as the tone of Yeezy shifted to what even Itami could tell was rather aggressive and unhappy. In response, Itami quickly stopped and forced his face to mimic a frown.

Oh, I am sorry, I was not aware that would be painful to you.

Claude has taken a little off guard by the sudden YELLING!!! It was weird to them how Itami suddenly shifted into this odd, boisterous introduction, and then changed back to his unreadable self he had been moments before. As easy as shifting gears. 

 A little caught up in the sudden energy, Claude replied.

 "CIRCUS PERFORMER! 

THAT’S SO COOL!! That’s the best talent ever! I’ve never been to a circus but I think they look amazing! I’d love to be a clown, myself… What kinda stuff do you do there?“ 

 "It just be a lot of dangerous stunts and stuff, ‘cause you look pretty banged up! Like, wow!”

What a rude thing to say. 

 "Oh, by the way, I’m Claude Santos. I don’t really have a talent… I’m a reserve course student.”

Seeing and hearing that same sort of happy yelling tone come from Claude made Itami feel as if the way he acted was indeed the right one and made a little mental check mark in his head for it. Wanting to keep doing good, he went back to trying to mimic the same sort of happy tone Claude had.

You want to see what I do Claude~ OKAY!!

Itami stated before turning away from the other teen and booking it towards the nearest wall. He drew dangerously close to slamming right into it....and then he did with a very loud thud. The force was clearly enough to bounce Itami back but he seemed rather unfazed, turning to face Claude with a smile.

“Shit dude, just cause ya don’t feel shit doesn’t mean it won’t do, like, actual damage. Yikes, I can only imagine the shit they do to you in the circus.” He said in disbelief, Just because you can’t feel doesn’t mean it won’t fuck you up quality quote worthy of @ justguythings Yeezy looked at the darts in his hand and gripped it tightly, he wasn’t gonna throw a dart at another person, that would be like, assault, which is an actual crime. very illegal. no bueno. and Yeezy wasn’t up for going to prison for something stupid like throwing a dart at another person, even with consent or not. Yeezy looked at the other, dumbfounded and repulsed at the idea. “wh– i- no fuckin’ way Itami, I’m not gonna do that! L-like I said dude, just cause you don’t feel it don’t mean you’re superman or some shit unless you got some sort of healing abilities.” It was clear that Yeezy was 100% against the idea and that no dart throwing at people shall take place today.

Hhmm but these darts would barely puncture my skin, I have been stabbed with a lot and these would barely do anything to me, like poke.

Itami replied before reaching out and jabbing Yeezy in the arm harder then he clearly meant to.

“Have I…. Have I been using the word "cool” wrong all of this time, then?“ Brief concern flashed across Claude’s face. "I think that it’s the right word… I mean, I hope so…?”

That was a worry for later. 

“Yea, yea! I didn’t really think of this place as a party kind of location. At least, none of the parties I’ve gone to before. I didn’t really expect to wind up in a mansion.”

“Oh, ahh, speaking of. If you’re here, you must be some kind of Hopes Peak student, right…?”

Hearing the other teen speak up and ask Itami’s name, the pale teen quickly straightened up (more then he already was) and stuck a gleeful looking pose.

HAHA, I’M ITAMI KANJOU, SHSL CIRCUS PERFORMER...

When the theatrics ended and people began to mill around at their leisure, Claude wandered, humming a rhythm-less melody, around the main hall. The building was impressively styled, and although it could use a little dusting in some corners, it certainly didn’t take from the je ne sais quoi of the place. The building had a quiet grandness and dignity to it. It gave Claude the feeling that they were somehow too unworthy to be allowed to be here, at such a party in such a location with such people.

Claude wasn’t exactly as important as anyone else here… so maybe the “unworthy” part was true. But that wasn’t going to hinder them if they could help it! They came here to socialize with these people, and just because they were all talented and Claude wasn’t, didn’t mean they’d be deterred!

(Unless nobody wanted to talk…)

“🎵 Hey-you! 🎵 How’re you doing!” With a musical lilt, Claude greeted the first classmate they came across that wasn’t overly busy looking. “Cool place, right? Don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere like this before. Makes me feel like I’m not even allowed to be here, it’s so… so, uhh…”

Cool? Is that the word to use here? I have only heard cool used for things like when the elephant trainer at the circus does her act or when someone is wearing sunglasses.

Itami had only wandered into the Game Room by chance because honestly he hadn’t even looked at the chalk map yet. The tall albino teen was just going with the flow, like a jellyfish and now here he was...looking at Yeezy.

Rigged? I have heard people call the games at the circus that...

Itami mutters to himself, recalling many a angry person after they lost something like ring toss.
