Haunting

She gives a lopsided grin. “I was just passing through. I didn’t hear anyone, and part of me thought this might be abandoned. So, uh, hi.”

She laughs softly, walking behind her desk to tidy up some loose papers on the surface. “It might as well be. It’s just me today… like most days. Hello to you too, by the way.” She gazes up curiously, with a teasing glint in her eye. “What then, is it a hobby of your’s, lurking through buildings you believe to be abandoned?”

“I guess you could call it a hobby,” she says, grin widening. “Either way, you get to find cool stuff. And cool people.” She makes a motion with her head towards the librarian. “Case in point.”

She rolls her eyes, but continues to smile. “Flattery will get you no where, my dear, though,” she pauses, “if you deign to classify centuries’ worth of knowledge under the sophisticated category of ‘cool stuff,’ I suppose I could show you around.”

She tilts her head slightly to the side, grinning much in the same way a person would after telling a particularly bad joke. "I'd love to be show around. But, uh, you never mentioned your name. I don't know you as anything other than 'cool person.'"
