Like babe you went to the bad person store. I love plenty of bad person characters but I'm not gonna act like they're not bad people, that's what I'm there for. If I get one more I fill out my stamp card. My collection is nearly complete. Sometimes a cruel person is just cruel for no good reason and that's what makes them so delicious.

There probably is, on account of how clearly labeled the character was as a bitch. Why do they call her a bitch idk probably on account of the high levels of bitch she has. There’s an episode of Sesame Street (on Netflix! you can watch it easily!) where Elmo attends a toy-swap, where you offer up old toys you don’t play with anymore and receive someone else’s toys that are new to you. Cute!

But Elmo, after cheerfully surrendering his old toys, sees that the children who swapped toys with him are playing with his toys “wrong”! They’re imagining entirely different make believe scenarios! They’re pretending the football is a dinosaur egg instead of a rocket ship! Aaahhhhh!!!! And this is so distressing to poor Elmo that he does the unthinkable: He does swapsies-backsies and takes all his toys back!

This being Sesame Street, he learns that you can’t control how other people play pretend, but you can join in if you want to! And if you don’t want to, that’s ok, you can just play pretend your own way by yourself or with someone else who wants to play that way too. You can still be friends with people who play pretend differently than you (and aren’t being mean/harmful/etc, do not bad-faith-read this 🤨).

I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person

BUT

a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."

Really weird feeling to spend years reading a webcomic only to get frog-boiled as the story starts to go downhill but you can't break the reflexive habit of reading checking the website until one day you realize that now you're hate-reading it, which sucks!!! Hate-reading is bad for you!! Don't do it! Bah!!!

Little bite-sized snippets of regularly-scheduled stories are great nourishment for the media gnomes that live in your brain, but hate-reading is toxic to them!! And it's very important to take good care of the media gnomes!! If your media gnomes get sick you might end up doing things like posting water-filter screenshots of blogs that you've blocked or getting mad at TV showrunners like they're your dad or doing kiwifarms stuff

There is a very delicate line between being a Hater (mirthful, no personal stakes, titillating to the gnomes) and being a Hater (resentful, jilted, bad for the gnomes).
