PAJAMA FRIDAY ERRY DAMN DAY, YO!

     koriand’r could hear the loud whines of a crying child nearby, and she flew there as quickly as she could. assuming to find the small human hurt or stuck — she was a bit shocked to find him held by who appeared to be another hero. possibly a villain ( or somewhere in between ) but right now that did not matter. landing, stepping forward —– “ hello small one, are you alright ? ” she leaned down, hands on her knees as she spoke to the crying child. his hands grabbed for her as she stood opening her arms to take him, “ hand him to me. ” she stated, and her voice is not truly stern but it is not questioning.

❝ don’t have to tell me TWICE. ❞ gwen wasted no time in questioning her authority, shifting to allow the mysterious hero ( or at least, she really hoped this lady was a hero. otherwise, she was SCREWED ) to take the child. as soon as the little boy was safely situated in the other’s arms, the blonde nearly breathed a sigh of a relief. try as she might, children were NOT her thing, and gwen assumed her MASK didn’t make matters much better. ❝ so uh - please tell me you aren’t a supervillain here to brainwash this child because i REALLY can’t have that on my conscience. ❞

SOMETHING ABOUT THAT VOICE. it manages to make it’s way to mary jane and call her attention because, believe it or not, mj KNOWS that voice. but, it’s different  ―  there’s a different tone that she’s never paired with that voice before. like two paintings with the same subjects, only they’re in different poses.

she manages to find the source of the call out  ―  a woman in a red, white, and black suit. the kid in her arms is moving around uncomfortably and mj finds herself gravitating towards the scene. she puts on a WARM SMILE, first to the girl i in the woman’s arms and then to ( where she IMAGINES is ) the hero’s eyes. she’s a couple steps closer, but to be COMPLETELY HONEST, she’s not that great with kids either. ❛ hey, uh, you need some help with her ? ❜ she motions to the girl that’s moving in her arms.

SHE’S BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE. and REALLY, it shouldn’t be a shock to her anymore. before this whole doomsday DISASTER, she had met nearly every spidey-hero incarnation in the multiverse ( at least nine different versions of peter parker, which HURT more than she’d like to admit ). and yet, gwen still can’t help but freeze at the familiar face. she’s ALONE in gotham —  not a single soul from her own universe, so for a moment, gwen allows herself to HOPE. but the second she speaks, gwen knows this mj isn’t from her universe. she’s KINDER, warmer, the snippish, infuriating attitude of her mj all but ABSENT.

gwen — no, spider-woman — recovers quickly, hoping her momentary lapse of composure had been OVERSHADOWED by the squirming child in her arms. ❝ yes, please. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, child care wasn’t exactly covered in superhero 101, and to be frank, i have no idea what i’m doing. ❞

having come across the scene, diana pushed down the feelings of complete PANIC & TERROR, that she honestly felt and that she knew others were feeling as well and attempted to locate really anyone she could. it was a crying child that soon caught her attention, followed by a woman’s voice who diana actually didn’t recognize. and – it appeared the child was still reeling from the quake’s sudden shake. she had closed the distance between them, kneeling down beside the crying child and placing a hand on their face. “we are here to help, you are in safe hands. i am wonder woman, and this is– uh–” she glanced to the woman blankly.

❛ COME ON, a girl travels a dozen different multiverses and you’re telling me I haven’t been to yours? ❜ in a normal situation, she would have TOTALLY voiced these thoughts ( and many more ), but a child’s life, and not to mention countless other civilians, was at stake here. CONTRARY to popular belief, gwen did have SOME SORT of filter. granted, it was rarely used, but it certainly existed.

she stepped aside, allowing the other hero to tend to the child, trying not to let it hurt her ego TOO MUCH that the child seemed to calm down considerably with the introduction of the woman. ❝ i’m SPIDER-WOMAN  —  well, one of ‘em anyway. i imagine there’s about three versions of us running around this WAR ZONE of a city. ❞

but, of course, in true gwen  ❛ my-life-is-fucked  ❜ stacy fashion, something had to go wrong. and that is precisely how she found herself standing in the aftermath of a giant eight-point-effin'-nine mag earthquake, crouching between several piles of rubble, clad in stained spandex, attempting to calm a crying child.  ❝ LISTEN, i know i’m really not the best with kids but if you could just work with me here. i’m just trying to save your life, GODDAM  — gosh darnit.  ❞
