Resisting whiteness as the default, as ideal, superior or right. Resisting that we should have to prioritise our white heritage. Resisting that we should assimilate into a monoracial world.  Resistance doesn’t mean denial, mixed race people with white heritage shouldn’t feel bad about our whiteness. But we absolutely should be taken seriously and valued as mixed race, not because we are part white. Implicit in being mixed race with white heritage is the idea that we can pass or we are lucky or we are aesthetically pleasing  because of our whiteness. This idea erases our mixed identities and undermines our non-white cultures and families. Resisting whiteness means taking care of myself in a context where the pressure to assimilate is very strong. It means I’m proud to be a mixed native woman, and it means celebrating that I am a whole person not just the disjointed fragments of my mixed ancestry.  

I do not mind if I have to dedicate my entire tumblr to this cause but here is a HAITIAN man being publicly TORTURED to DEATH in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC! There is not enough sources displaying these crimes against humanity. When we think of crimes against humanity we think of the German holocaust and slavery. And we say to ourselves “if we were there we would of made a difference.” Well this is your chance to at the very least make this as public as possible. If not, you are just as good as those who just stood there and took pictures while they killed this man.
