Through All These Years

So I missed out on Fanartfrenzy this year because ~*Life*~, but I finally got around to making some fanart for @spacevixen2024 's cute 'Pretty Woman' AU. I have never seen Pretty Woman (I am a bad millennial...), so I looked up the movie and ever since I started reading this fic I wanted to recreate the movie poster. “Tell me what you want,” Kaidan pleaded quietly. 

Her chest heaved; all the emotion swirling inside her felt violent when he said that. She couldn’t bear to tell him what she really wanted, what was truly inside her heart. Kaidan still held her other wrist and could feel her pulse flapping against his fingers like a bird trying to escape the prison of its cage. 

Lifting her head so she could meet his eyes, Shepard’s voice was so quiet he missed it. “Everything.”

Kaidan leaned in a little more with confusion. “What was that?” he asked.

With his fingers inside her, the other hand keeping her restrained, Shepard had never felt so alive as she did when she was with him. She knew she had nothing to lose by confessing, and that she had everything to gain. 

Any bravado she had left with her next breath, and her lips twisted into a shaky smile. “I want you to make love to me,” she whispered.

Her request was spoken softly, and Kaidan matched her smile as he let go of her wrist and cupped her cheek once more, dragging his fingers away from her. “I can do that,” he promised.

Kaidan knelt between her legs, the firm mattress dipping beneath his weight. Instead of immediately mounting her as he would have done a few days ago, he decided to take his time and leaned in to trace her jaw with his fingertips. Her head was braced back against a pillow, dark hair spilling over it like molten chocolate.

“Sleep it off, Major.”

Playing a vanguard in the first game basically amounts to being the loud, shotgun-wielding tank of the group. This means that husks, thorian creepers, and other such mobs pretty much exist solely to waste my time.

Inevitably, one or two of them will get past my beefy ass and latch onto Kaidan while I’m distracted, at which point the fight becomes a race against the clock to chew through the horde before that lone husk gets through my dear lieutenant’s shields.
