i think there is unfortunately a knee jerk reaction people have to abuse like this, esp when it's mother/son, where it's just "gross", "weird", or "sick", as louis says. where the child is not taken to be a victim, somehow. i think the show is very honest in having this be louis' initial reaction, until he sees lestat's panic, until he properly thinks it through for a second. and then he gets it, and he feels horrible about what he said. again, it's just all very realistic and bittersweet. everyone involved did an incredible job with this storyline imo.

I am in no position to speak on the language Claudia used towards louis, but I thought that it was pretty clear that she was obviously enraged and wanted to say anything to get louis and lestat to stop using her so that they can soothe their own guilt. That’s just how I interpreted it, but I do understand how people would be upset because of the all white writers crew this season. But I do hope that Jacob and Delainey stood their ground about what they thought their characters would and would not say. I honestly wasn’t expecting louis to say ‘well what about what you should be thanking me for?’ But it does really show that he wanted Claudia to be the nicer version of her that existed in his mind. And the way the next scene was basically just them finding closure??? After being faced with their dead and anguished daughter saying that she hates them and that she’s all alone without her lover??? They get to say ‘oh well that was something, but at least now we can move forward and work on our own issues’…are you serious???? Literally all of the emotional weight from the previous scene disappeared, and I was very disappointed about that choice. But ig it does track with real life of the men who caused all the pain getting off scot free while the woman has to deal with the consequences. I just…am really disappointed with how this episode turned out, but I’m hoping that now that Claudia has spoken, she is finally allowed the rest she was denied for so long.
